According to fiqh, there are some things classified as najis (napak or filth). If you get something najis on your person/clothes, you have to wash it off before you can pray.

Najis things include human excrement/ urine, pigs or pig products, and alcoholic beverages.

Note that alcohol in itself is not najis. But anything containing alcohol that is meant for consumption/ ingestion is najis.

nice gesture.we need to respect each other,s beliefs for peace and prosperity of humanity.

This simple and nice gesture has various elements.
It shows the respectful attitude inherent among majority of English speaking westerners, other westerners are a mixed bunch.

It can be argued that alcohol is only prohibited for drinking, otherwise ok, but it can have a strong smell so it is understandable that people not used to alcohol would want to avoid it altogether. Plus, to them it is viewed as dirty, even touching it becomes problematic.

Previously, cigarettes were extremely common, but now to smoke is to become almost like an outcaste, and I can see a similar movement building up against alcohol, although it is less likely to succeed.

There was a part of me that felt uncomfortable, asking why they should have to adopt to meet his needs, but once you evaluate properly, there is nothing wrong with this accommodation, on the contrary, it is indeed rather beautiful.

sir Australian team has no obligation to stop theit celebration and include Usman Khawaja to the celebration! thats a good step and should be applauded!
