That's not a good comparison.

The army in those countries generally stays out of politics, whereas as in Pakistan they can at most rule the country through a coup or even as a minimum play the role of a 'kingmaker' and have widespread political infuence.

You can probably abuse the australian army chief openly even as a normal guy in australia 24/7 and nothing will happen to you. Do that in Pakistan and something bad will probably happen to you.

I don't think the pakistani army chief actually does that every 10 years but even then so what if he did? It's his job to protect the country from threats. He literally gets paid to do it.

Other militaries do the same thing and protect their countries.

Fair enough, if you say that. Maybe I've heard or read wrong things.

But I still don't think my original point about that being a bad comparison was wrong though. The Pakistanis army does tend to get involved in politics a lot. Whereas most western armies stay out of it because they are true democracies.

I'm not saying I support democracies, I definitely don't. But I don't agree with this implication that people are wrong to say that the army doesn't get involved in politics way more than it should (in a supposed democracy). Criticising them the army for that seems like a pretty valid criticism.
