How did people, who wanted IK to take a stand on this issue as well, think this was going to play out? Did anyone think that there would be some inspirational speech on the national tv and everyone would suddenly 'see the light'?

The fact of the matter is that a lot of people are counting on IK to make any such mistake so they can use it as an excuse to protest.

Khadim Hussain Rizvi and the like only have relevance because of these issues. They would've loved for there to be such an issue to exploit so they can cash on it.

I doubt Imran Khan cared about his religious beliefs one way or another.

The fact of the matter is that this government intends to take on so many powerful interest at the same time that it already seems nearly unachievable. Why add something so politically dangerous into the mix.

IMHO, it's not about the issue but about choosing your battles wisely. The issues of corruption and water shortages etc affect the whole nation, whereas this issue doesn't.

So I can understand why IK and his Government chose to leave this issue in favour of focusing on the other issues for which they got the votes.

Problem is that Imran Khan hurrys into things be it deciding to include atif mian and then giving up on this.
Either he is weak or he has planned this through to get sympathy by targeting minority.
In both scenarios, its not good news for Pakistan. Comparing to Qaid e Azam, If qaid e azam would have given up to the pressures (which were far extreme than today), pakistan would not even be a dream.

IK has shown his open mindedness with appointing the people he thought might be helpful in economic revival, now if majority of other team members don't want to work with one particular person on account of his loyalties with IMF, then there is nothing wrong with parting ways with that individual and replacing him with someone more aligned with Pakistani interests.

There is no shortage of talented Pakistanis in any field. Exclusion of one or two persons for one reason or the other does not make any difference. The task at hand is the economic revival, not which individuals are included in the EAC. Again please don't lose focus. Focus is economic revival of the country not any individual.

I specifically was targeted by these pro-Israel lobbies while in university, but they gave up on me. They scour campuses for individuals who may give into pressure and join their cause offering them careers, research opportunities, or connections.

Many of the Pakistani Americans (and other Muslims) and immigrant Pakistanis left not only Islam (religiously, politically, or both,) but became militant Communists, Liberal Gay Rights activists, Conservative Republicans, Proponents of the US military, or personal avowed enemies of Pakistan and Muslims joining Ex-Muslim and anti-Pakistan groups.

Their time in university changed them because propaganda is coming from all sorts of student groups and faculty. To join student government and have affiliations with fraternities, you must be pro-Israel and support the establishment political parties of this country.

I don't know Atif Mian's personal affiliations, but this is common in the US.
