Balloon from Pakistan lands in Rajasthan village
A hot air balloon, which purportedly flew in from across the international border, caused a stir in a remote village in Jalore district, about 400 km from here.
The balloon, with the words “Inter University Sports Gala at Pakistan Marine Academy closing ceremony” landed at a farmer’s field in Sarwana village near Sanchore on Friday.
The incident follows at least two other recent instances where hot air balloons, purportedly from Pakistan have been spotted along the border villages of Rajasthan.
We were informed of it by a government school teacher. We have confiscated the balloon and have informed the army and air force,” Jalore SP Kalyanmal Meena told The Indian Express.
“We are investigating the matter but prima facie it seems like a celebratory balloon,” Meena added.
On Republic Day eve last month, the IAF had shot down a similar Helium balloon near Barmer. The “unidentified balloon shaped object” was shot down by the IAF’s Sukhoi-30 aircraft.
Authorities later found that the US made balloon, with the words “Happy Birthday” inscribed on it, was not carrying any dangerous payload.
