Idiot the figure that was quoted for India was GNI not NNI.

Oh really? 111,782 right?

As of 2018 India's per capita income is 111,782 INR

Per Capita Income

18. The per capita net national income during 2017-18 is estimated to be `111,782 showing a rise of 8.3 per cent as compared to `103,219 during 2016-17 with the growth rate of 9.7percent.

Like I said, go do something you are better at, you obviously have a tough time with even basic reading, forget analysis:

So what happened to:

We are talking about per capita income and Bangladesh has higher per capita income then India.

Your basic math (even with the terrible cherrypicking) is atrocious too?

What happens when we take inflation into account again:

Oh right, what a surprise:

Still 8 years behind, keep reaching (or vaulting)!

It is good that you are coming in line by admitting beside Canada there is other part of the world. Have you ever set foot beside slums of bihar?

Vermin talking big, always hillarious:

Why are you taking that slip of tongue so seriously? If any person say 1000 sentences, it is very possible that 1 or 2 sentence will sound like improbable. It happens for every person. It does not mean you have grill them for that.

Nah the so called slip of tongue in this subforum is abundant

He said without calculating, so it can be somewhat distorted. If he said 40 years instead of 25, than it would have been correct. I have said in previous post(you probably did not read the later part) he actually over-estimated South Korea's recent progress, which actually was some years earlier that that. It indicates that he regards Korean with high esteem.

He is free to retract it/correct it too...but of course this idiot has to talk for him and say its slip of the tongue:

If he said 40 years instead of 25,

So...1978 you say?

https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/NY.GDP.PCAP.KD?locations=KR-BD

GDP per capita for South Korea (constant 2010 dollars) = 3600 USD

Still near 4 times higher than BD today.

Energy use per capita was around 930 kg/a/cap....again about 4 times that of BD today.

https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/EG.USE.PCAP.KG.OE?locations=KR-BD

So try again swamp rat.

Seoul in 1980, just two years before this...they were like Bangladesh today

@dy1022 @Desert Fox @django @Major Sam

Such an uncanny resemblance!

Why do you care whether anyone will blame Bangladesh or not!! Don’t feed the Tamil retard troll.

If I am not mistaken isn’t Bangladesh already overtaken India in terms of per capita income? It is 1753 USD for Bangladesh. I believe it is less for India.
Well you need to learn some serious lessons on economy if you wish to discuss it. You even lack knowledge about basic terms like NNI or GNI. Go learn and then compare accordingly. @Nilgiri can be a good guy to teach you some economy lessons.

Otherwise youll just flaunt your ignorance and others can only laugh on that.

Idiot the figure that was quoted for India was GNI not NNI. If you still think that was NNI then quote GNI for India of 2018.

We have figure for NNI both for India and Bangladesh

https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/NY.ADJ.NNTY.PC.CD?locations=IN-BD

Stick to current topics instead of jumping from one thing to another.

It is good that you are coming in line by admitting beside Canada there is other part of the world. Have you ever set foot beside slums of bihar?
Well you posted this article.
https://www.livemint.com/Politics/K...ta-income-growth-may-slow-83-to-Rs111782.html
Now only if you would have thoroughly read it well( especially 2nd para), even a dumb guy would understand that they are talking about ''per capita net national income"....Should I quote it from article now? Or that will be suffice?

.
What kind of chit are you on? Seriously....
This @bilal
If machinery is not super expensive (there is China, Taiwan, Korea even Japan) and if the technology is not prohibited or critical then who the heck cares?? Import. And Import only what you really need and the best globally available.
Import technology? How much money do you have? Even a few trillion dollar will not suffice. Does BD have that kind of money? Very strange theory of yours. You guys talk of a great BD where every house will have a swimming pool, yet you are proposing some idiotic theory that does not fit even a 6th world country. What do you want your 160 million people to do if BD imports every technology?

A massive development requires a very long and painful process by the entire population. All the developed countries went through this painful process. Now, you guys are not willing to do your home works, yet dreaming of a glorious BD. Please understand that no pain no gain.

BD can claim itself developing, if its people are capable to produce almost every thing by themselves. Europe, Japan and Korean people did it and as a result these countries are called developed ones. By the way, who is going to give you a few trillion dollar worth of technology free of cost? Does BD have money for that?

Also, o
nly the obsolete technologies are for sale, and by buying these will not help BD to develop. BD will certainly buy factories/machines, but it will also have to develop most technologies by itself as India is doing. Failing to develop its own technology, BD will remain almost as poor as it is now, a 3rd rate country.

Either that or he is overestimated the current Bd progress.

Well its true, a Nation as big as Bangladesh cant skip the tree of technological and industrial advance and then just promoting smart tech and IT Revolution without being muddled at the dirt of heavy industry (automotive, petrochemical, steel and other metal or mineral smelter, shipyard industries, and other heavy machinary forms).

Garment industries in Bangladesh is good but they would bring you nowhere, as textile and garment industry is not enough to support and sustain your rather large population into the next level of development. 160 million of people is large and if utilized right can be your major capital.

We have already seen 71 years. So, tell us how many more 71 years will be required. Indonesia is developing. It is producing and even exporting railway cars and locomotives. How about BD? Is its Syedpur railway workshop doing anything good?

Bold part: Yes, exactly what you have said. Heavy industries require heavy machines that BD will be unable to produce for many decades. So, these must be imported at least in the beginning. No one really can forecast the future, but, in case of Japan, the Japanese govt. had set goals for the country's modernization and the ministers and all other related people worked hard to materialize the targets. I do not see BD govt people are any visionary. They talk only from imagination, and here in the PDF we are supporting their loose talks.

People in BD do not really understand what is the true meaning of sustained development. I think, BD will lose momentum and stop growing further in the near future because the country is not changing its course of depending upon textiles only. Note that even the sewing machines and needles, which are of heavy demand, are not produced locally. But, people here freely talk about an imagined 2041 when BD will be like Germany.

These things will come in the following decades. I expect car manufacturing to start within the next 3-4 years.Railway workshops are now being renovated, we are setting up a petrochemical plant by investing Taka 100 billion. When our iron and steel consumption will reach a certain point(automotive and ship building industry mature) then I am sure govt. will consider metal and mineral smelting plants. I do not remember anyone here said, Bangladesh do not need those heavy industries to develop. We just simply did not need those item so far, but we will obviously need them in coming decades. It is very much unfortunate that you and @bluesky think, by the year of 2018, the progress of Bangladesh came to a halt. No farther progress is possible for this ''Godforsaken'' country from onward. Our argument is only for that, we reasonably believe Bangladesh will continue to progress in all field including small, medium and heavy industry, IT sector, service sector, agriculture, skilled man power development, human development etc.

:rofl::rofl::rofl::lol:

These overseas Bangla jokes prove that line of Mushtaq Yousufi pretty well, 'There are 3 kinds of lies, a lie, awhite lie and figures & stats.
'Proposing', 'reaching', 'going to make', 'will happen' won't do, itna pyar hai for your sh*thole sell your property overseas bring that money and invest in Bangladesh. AL dalaals make them ch*t*a and they forwardthat BS to these forums thinking the world is dumb. Never trusted these jokes and their figures. Wet dreams and saying BS on forums won't help. Go back and invest.

How many times have you been told BD has only been independent since 1971?
You are polluting this forum with constant garbage.

.
All these are excuses. Back in 1970s, Bangladesh's per capita income was quite higher than that of India. It dipped later on though. Even India faced lots of instabilities in between....from wars to emergency in 70s, rise of terrorism to assasinatioas of our leaders, despite it did good.
@bluesky
Well so you admit that you are talking about last 100 years.
So tell me what was the condition of BD aka east Bengal that time? How many stable years BD part got in this 100 years ?
Sylhet has been the most prosperous area but sylhet was a part of Assam not east Bengal .
This part ( east Bengal) was always prosperous before British start sucking, but that's different story we will not argue here.
Now let's talk about British era . This BD part was always deprived and before 1947 there were not even a single jute Mill was in East Bengal , so all agriculture money was looted by Hindu elites of Calcutta .
If someone will be honest( unlike BAL idiots) then after 1947 the development started .
Then again 1971 and then the worst black regime of BAKSHAL.
Then we all know the stories. Ershad did something good ( elders say) then again fall and the heinous democracy started.
And again 15 February election and again chaos, and then again BAL came to power, and again bnp and BD was almost destroyed specially in electricity sector.
Now the development started since 2009 regime.
And then, 2013 was a mess of Hartal ,vangchur, then 2014 election, and then 3 months strike , vangchur petrol bomb, then again the same in 2015.
So actually the political stability started in 2016 .
So are those 3 years enough to compare with Indian 100 years?
Look previous BNP regime totally destroyed almost every thing, so did not Awami League recover it so fast?
But do we recognize it?
If we recognize it then we are tagged as Awami League agent, if critisize it then we are Razakars.Actually who are we can you explain ? Razakar, bha-da? Or Bangladeshi?

When we start bashing something we do it , as they are devil mean entirely bad, and when we start praising then we try to say that they ( anyone ,any groups) are angles. This isn't balance imo.
And yes Awami ministers are barking that in 2041 BD will be developed nation that's a bad side of BD nation.
And some of us ( you) are trying to compare 100 years of India with more or less than three stable years of BD, that makes no sense.
Before 2016 ( after last petrol bomb incident ) BD became politicaly more stabilized. So was there any option for BD to start development as one party started and another cancelled it?
Critisim is good thing, but exaggeration isn't. Give BD atleast politicaly stable 10 years and then expectation should be so high.
Thanks.

Looks like Bangladesh still has a long way to go. Facts are facts.

Kudos to the spirited effort though.

These are capital intensive industries and our banks are not big enough to fund billions of dollar of investment in single proposal. We are pretty dependant on domestic investment. So it will take time before we build up enough capital so that our business people can invest with foreign investor in equal footing. The process already started, you need to wait and see and have patience.

You have not understanding of economics. You just want your rosy dream to come true over night.

What exactly are your facts?
