Riyadh - Asharq Al-Awsat

Saudi Arabia's new foreign minister, Ibrahim al-Assaf, has stressed that the kingdom was not in crisis, saying it was witnessing a transformation.

"The issue of Jamal Khashoggi... really saddened us, all of us," Assaf told Agence France Presse in response to a question on the Saudi journalist’s murder.

"But all in all, we are not going through a crisis, we are going through a transformation," he said at his residence in Riyadh.

In Thursday's cabinet reshuffle, his predecessor Adel Jubeir was appointed minister of state for foreign affairs.

"Adel represented Saudi Arabia and will continue to represent Saudi Arabia... around the world," Assaf said.

"We complement each other," he added.

Meanwhile, Saudi Ambassador to Washington Prince Khalid bin Salman congratulated the new ministers on their posts.

He also extended his congratulations to both Assaf and Jubeir, saying “their respective appointments will help advance Saudi diplomacy.”

Immense change is coming to Saudi..
But Khashoggi case has highlighted a few things..

  1. Strong Saudi resolve to protect its interest from meddling by regional powers especially Muslim Brotherhood supporters.
  2. Out witting Turkey in game of intelligence agencies.
  3. Superior co-ordination and black ops capabilities of Saudi intelligence.

And a lot of changes and reforms in the Saudi intelligence apparatus to thwart any internal command conflict, prevent rogue elements from acting as they wish and all in all improving the intelligence apparatus administration, planning & control and performance by modernising its structure to fit the Saudi Vision 2030..

It highlighted the following. A lying regime who’s story went from blaming Turkey, to “he left the consulate”, “he died in a fist fight” to accepting the crime was done by “rouge” elements. Dont forget all the twitter troll robots who tried to lay the blame on Turkey, Qatar & Iran lol

1 - An oppressive regime ready kill its people and then to bend down to US and let them milk them for money. “Pay up” or “you won’t last 2 weeks” as Trump said.
2 - Saudis got exposed by the Turkish inteligence. It highlighted advances in Turkish intel and forensics. Remember the voice recordings that came about, Saudis even started crying Turkish intelligence is bugging embassies lol.
3 - The most amateur assassination in history it would make amateur killers look like professionals.
