What's new

Asia’s Submarine Race

Write this in your diary, and look back after few month or 1 year. You would see something like :
China ( marketing S300 alike ) ordered as many as S400 SAM from Russia
China ( claiming own AIP subs ) ordered 4 Amur class AIP sub from Russia
China ( claiming ready to mass produce J-31 ) ordered 48 gen 4 Su-35 from Russia
China ( claiming succeed with domestic jet engines ) has been ordering hundreds tp thousand of RD-93, AL-31, D30 engines from Russia, delivery partially until 2018,
And Mi-17 helicopters.
1.the order of S400 and Su35s was not sure.
2.political deals(especially when Russians is at the frontline)
3.Amur project was a cooperative research(Russians have better submarine-use steel,Russians use Fuel Cell while we prefer Stirling Engine)
4.AL-31FN cep3 for J10B mass production.Newly prodeuced SAC flankers all fitted with WS-10A.137kn version of WS-10A has installed(proved in Zhuhai Airshow)
5.Current capacity can not satisfy the need of our Air force(We are now begin to retire Su-27SKs and still 800+ Fishbeds and Finbacks need to be replaced)Also structural problems, too many air superiority fighters in service.

PLA's scale is still big.Every year few battlions of new weapons may be impressive for an army like VPA.But for us,its just like a drop of water in the ocean, very true.

. . .
You forgot Bangladesh in this race, it's making slow but steady progress, it's acquiring 4 new submarines, 2 from China and 2 from Russia, all by 2016.

.
This is not true
Thanks to the trolling tactics of @BoQ77.

Because ChineseTiger start to talk about Su-35, and other start to talk about DF-21.

Yeah, the deal of the Su-35 has been set yet.

Since they didn't set up that deal during the Zhuhai airshow, since our PLAAF is now waiting for our fifth gen aircrafts like J-20/J-31.

Why need to market our engine when we are even running short of domestic engine.

are you telling us about jet engine or stealth fighter ( J-31 ) ?
is it true that you also lack of stealth fighter with good engines and you still marketing the J-31?

.
BTW, China's conventional subs right now are mostly AIP.

AIP technology has some grades, while Amur and Soryu could be state of art AIP technology, others at some unproven grade.
This sub made with AIP technology by an individual in Vietnam too.

Sub is secret weapon, so recently, they reveal that Vietnamese was trained with subs for decades before the 1st Kilo-class actually delivered. See M96 unit. during 1990s.

Unfortunately the sub is not a secret. It's the same kilo636 that PLAN has.

LOL. Sub is secret weapon means if they were discovered they lost their power.

And two version not exactly the same. Vietnam version always more advanced than Chinese version.

See. Su30MK2, improved Kilo class subs.

Russian provided weapons to Chinese with something in mind that they would provide better version to Vietnam.

This is an amateur sub-marine is tested in Vietnam Navy Academy. This is good for suicide attack only.

Wait, wait, so you're telling me that a Vietnamese private citizen made this?

Someone has a lot of free time and extra moolah if you know what I mean...

.
Why are they using such a small sub??
looks tiny and funny...
Can it hold a man inside?

they test the 1st prototype, after fix most of flaws, they'd create that for group of 2 or 3 of naval special force soldier.
they also create a mother sub to bring 4 of those minisub ... with return function.

the manufacturer is a private one with asymetric tactic in mind. He want to create 1000 of that

.
The question is how many people it can carry and how far it can goes?
From the size, I would say it can only hold 1 person for a few hundred meters...

You are correct. And it for test in swimming pool. Final one could bring 3, ... and mother sub would bring 4. Total 12 for 4 mini sub in a mother ship. There're several mother ships.

That's for approaching the enemy ship or base. It's the idea of the designer.

The AIP mini sub could bring more and sailing longer distance and time than that.
