Asraf Ghani is a bright individual with a bright academic record, however he has spent most of the 80's and 90s overseas. In other words he simply is incapable of seeing Afghanistan in its historical context. AA was a fighter and knows all major players.In my opinion he would have had a better chance at reconciliation.

Regardless of who wins, Pakistan is willing to work with the new got in Kabul.

Ashraf Ghani already got the support of many Taliban groups, in fact the Afghan Taliban actually helped to keep the polls safe in Wardak province (Ghani Stronghold), and the Afghan Taliban was caught rigging in Paktika (Another Ghani Stronghold).
