According to a convincing report from Turkish defense and geopolics analyst Çınar Çakmak, Turkey’s military electronics giant Aselsan is preparing to unveil a new series of radar platforms in the upcoming IDEF defense expo at the international TUYAP convention and congress center in Istanbul, scheduled to take place between 10 – 13 May, 2011.

The social circles that deal in Turkey’s military and defence mention that these radars include a number of advanced stand-alone systems designed for naval, land and aerial surveillance, target detection, identification and tracking missions. Among them, there is a promising new generation phased array radar built on the proven architecture of Aselsan’s Air Defence Radar (ADR) that was designed specifically for engaging multiple missile-like fast moving threats in short to middle-ranges. ADR currently plays a central role in the SKYWATCHER Air Defense Early Warning and Command Control System of Turkish Armed Forces, and is reported to be extremely successful at this task. Aselsan’s new air defence radar, however, is designed for executing the same mission in a middle to long-range battle environment while providing extra features that are not available with the existing ADR in service.

This new radar is currently nameless as its existence has not yet officially been made public, but it is referred to among Turkish defense circles as the new “Aselsan 3D radar”.

TRDEFENCE has learned that the new radar will operate in the X-band of the electromagnetic spectrum with a much higher number of transmitters than the ADR for increased target resolution and sensitivity. Radar wave beam from individual transmitters can be manipulated in different shapes and phases, or concentrated on individual targets for making a variety of military application possible. It exceeds NATO quality standards and features a fully digital interface that provides optimum support for connectivity and Network Centric Operations. Integrated IFF, 360-degree surveillance coverage, automatic target classification, anti-jamming ECCM, fast deployment, easier maintenance and an increased maximum range of 120 km are also among the new 3D radar’s ipmroved capabilities.

Most probably, The Non-rotating Sea version of this radar would be integrated on TF-2000 as main tower radar under the name of CAFRAD...

is it like an asea radar btw any chance of us getting them??

It is not AESA but an APAR radar (Active Phased Array radar) development work. APAR's are mostly used as Land/Sea surveillance and Fire control radars.
