This may be slightly off topic but did Vietnam lose some territories during sicko-pykes agreement. The land borders seem unnatural and longish. Could it perhaps be that some previous Vietnam lands are with Laos and Cambodia by accident or vice-versa?

Vietnam did not loss anything in the Pykes.

The Kinh people are low land people. The mountain ridges demarcate Lao and Vietnam. The other side of mountain is the Thai people (Thai Lao same).

The land with Cambodia is a result of Vietnam taking Cambodian land in the 1700-1800s.

Prior everyone there Khmer.

By the time when French came, the Khmer already converted to Kinh, and dont want be Khmer again. The French prepare quite a fair demarcation base on ethnic.

But then there is no longer much Kinh in Vietnam, all converted.

There are Kinhs in Cambodia. Khmer cant assimilate them.

No,we didn't lose any territories, we even got more villages after helping Cambodia to wipe out Pol Pot's army who got support from CN to massacred 3 million Cambodian

Sykes–Picot Agreement.. Was the agreement that has created modern day border example if you look at the world map and look at Africa the border is not organic it looks like some people play drawn the borders.

That is how today's territorial borders came thru Sykes–Picot Agreement..

If there is no territorial mistakes in vietnam and Cambodia it means that the Kinh use to live of the ocean and settled or preferred to settle close to the ocean coast explaining why Vietnam has a longish landscape.
