ASEAN Defense Industries, Comparison among countries

Each country develop system that the other still struggling to learn it, considering that there is still blind spot in indonesian airspace, will be good if we can learn radar to vietnam, we need more radar.
Do indonesia restrict weapons export? like restrict not all kind weapon can be exported and not all country can buy it? @madokafc

we dont have any restriction in export of our weapon system, actually we are taking pride on that. If only we got a better finance system we can offer them with loans.

Indonesian made Landing Ship Tank, currently Indonesia is in the process to acquire 4 of them each will have more than 1800 GWT and can hold up to 4000 to 5000 ton carriages.

Indonesia would be the first SE Asia country to have submarine-building capability. Ultimately the facility won't be able to build more than 2000 tons submarine, but it'll be enough to build and developing further the improved Chang Bogo-class (DSME 209/1400) locally

North Sea Boats / PT. Lundin Industry Invest

North Sea Boats is an international boat building company specialized in building craft for military, law enforcement, SAR, commercial, and high performance applications. The company has presence in Sweden, Singapore and Indonesia, with its headquarters located at Banyuwangi East Java Indonesia. X-18 Antasena (Tank Boat) has been mentioned before so here's other products from this shipbuilding company:

X3X / Klewang-class fast missile boat built for Indonesian Navy. The progress was halted after the first vessel caught fire before being commissioned to the navy in 2012, but currently it has been continued again and the first vessel is scheduled to be delivered late next year

X2K RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat) used mainly by Indonesian Kopassus and Kopaska as Special Boat Unit. On the specs it says X2K Special Forces RIB is able to reach 50-60 knots top speed. With weight of 2.3 tons this boat can load up to 14 people (including crews), and equipped with radar, radio VHF, GPS, and AIS. 12.7mm heavy machine gun or 7.62mm machine gun can be placed on the front. This product has been exported to some countries with the latest costumer being Russia

Republic of Singapore

The Bionix (BX) is a family of tracked Singaporean armoured fighting vehicles developed by Singapore Technologies Kinetics (formerly Singapore Technologies Automotive, which is now known as Singapore Technologies Engineering). Intended to augment the Singapore Army's aging M113 armoured personnel carriers, it is the first indigenous armoured vehicle to be developed in Southeast Asia.[2][3] The Bionix has been operational with the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) since 1999 in a wide variety of adaptations including the Bionix II, Bionix 25 and Bionix 40/50 variants.

Aside from domestic use, ST Kinetics has been marketing the Bionix to countries that wish to retire their old M113s from front-line service.

So does vietnam develop this system and the radar indigenously? or get some TOT from other country? or buy it and reverse engineer it?
a mix of old and new. some are imported, some are domestic made. such as this one: Vietnam made radar guided 37 mm anti aircraft artillery. all control units (radar, communications system, target finder, night vision gear) are packed in a special truck.

all software are coded by Vietnamese programmer. integrated Vietnam made radar can defect targets at a 40 km distance.

Pindad develop APR-1V into Personnel Transport Medium (APS) 1, then APS-2. In 2006, Pindad and BPPT managed to make APS-3 which later became known as Anoa.

PINDAD then made five Anoa variants, namely: Remote Control Weapon System (RCWS), Armored Personnel Carrier (APC), Logistics, Recovery, and Ambulance. The UN has ordered dozens Anoa 6X6 to transport troops in various peace missions in Lebanon and Sudan.

Strictly speaking about the VQ1-M.

Initially, we intended to buy them from a foreign partner, possibly Israel. We offered $100m but they refused.

So Vietnam decided to develop our own system. Took us 20 months to develop and manufacture an indigenous system, during that time, the partner kept lowering the price. When we have an operational system, their offer stood at $20m, but it was too late.

So yes, it was an indigenous system without any foreign assistance.That's basically what the article I linked was about.

The surveillance radar systems are different. We have full technology transfer and support from Belarus and possibly Russia.
