Bangladesh today termed the Indian government’s revoking of Article 370, “an internal issue of India”.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said this in a press release published on its official website fifteen days into the scrapping of the article that provided special status to the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

“Bangladesh maintains that the abrogation of Article 370 by the Indian Government is an internal issue of India,” says the press release.

The statement comes a day after Indian External Affairs Minister of India Dr S Jaishankar held meetings with Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen.

“Bangladesh has always advocated, as a matter of principle, that maintaining regional peace and stability, as well as development should be a priority for all countries,” the release added.

No other countries were involved when we self imposed article 370 temporarily for sake of administration ..It was passed and scrapped in our parliament ..How can it be anything other than internal issue ? Pakistan should be the last country objecting on this because if it advocates for article 370 then it should recognize it first ..

This type of statement is expected from non-party countries in the world including Bangladesh. This is the uncontroversial statement which do not have any risk of spoiling relation with any country. We are just spectators in this faraway dispute where we have no role to play. Then why we should make any divisive comment? Bangladesh and other non-party countries will not dispute about the Pakistan's control of Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, nor it will dispute Indian control of Jammu-Kashmir. This is how diplomacy works. I don't know why some Pakistani expects Bangladesh to take a position on this issue when we can not alter anything nor we have any stake in it. Our 95 percent common people are sympathetic to the plight of Kashmiri people and that should be enough good gesture from us. Government of course will make statement in line with diplomatic norms.
