Textron AirLand has released a new photo of its Scorpion aircraft, and this time, it’s fully loaded.

The above picture is the first look at what the plane, billed as an ISR/light attack aircraft, looks like when equipped with a weapons load on its wings.

So what’s on there? According to company spokesman David Sylvestre, the outer spots are taken by Lockheed Martin Hellfires, the middle stations by Textron Defense Systems G-CLAWs and the innermost stations by Raytheon Paveways.

That doesn’t mean the company isn’t looking wider for potential weapons loads. The Scorpion will be on static display at the RIAT and Farnborough air shows starting July 10, and that load will be more mixed, adding in Raytheon’s Griffin Missile and Enhanced Paveway 4; Boeing’s JDAM and SDB; and the Lockheed DAGR.

Textron officials have touted the versatility of the plane, so it’s no surprise the company wants to show off the number of different weapons that can be mounted on the wing. As of now, however, none of the weapons have been tested.

“No flight testing with actual weapons has begun. This is to show range of weapons likely to be used on the plane, and the plane’s weapons load capacity,” Sylvestre wrote in an email. “These are among the weapons we would expect Scorpion to carry, depending on the customer’s mission requirements.”

For it's role and asking price, it's actually not that bad of a buy. The US national guard can use these cheap fighters for minimal air defense, instead of more expensive options, such as for escorting suspicious or risky flights. or even surveillance.

Basically, if you want a comparison, this would be to a police officer, what an F-16 would be to a soldier.

Textron has estimated the Scorpion’s price at under $20 million

But another key number is the cost for an hour of flight time, which Anderson estimates at about $3,000 an hour, compared with $15,000 or more for high-end fighters.

It's a pretty crappy aircraft if one compares it to the JF-17, in terms of price & capability.

Apparently, it's supposed to cost anywhere from 10-15 million a piece, and according to theaviationist, it's hourly operation cost will be $3000 dollars only, well below advanced fighters.

While the F-35s remain grounded, the Scorpion low-cost multi-mission jet has arrived in the UK

Scorpion jet is going to be one of the highlights of the Royal International Air Tattoo and Farnborough International Airshow.

Whilst it is still unclear whether any F-35 Lightning II aircraft will eventually make it to the UK, Textron Scorpion multi-mission jet has just successfully completed its first flight outside the U.S.

Thel ow-cost ISR (intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance) platform/light tactical strike aircraft for “irregular warfare,” border and maritime patrol, intelligence surveillance reconnaissance, counter-narcotics and air defense operations, covered about 4,700 nautical miles from Wichita to RAF Fairford, UK, where it arrived on Jul. 9 to attend the Royal International Air Tattoo from Jul. 11 to 13. After taking part in RIAT, the aircraft will move to Farnborough for FIA 2014 from Jul. 14 to 20.

Sporting the brand new two-tone dark gray over light gray paint scheme, that has replaced the original flat light gray livery, the aircraft will be on display with several weapons models including Raytheon Griffin Missiles, Boeing JDAM and SDBs, Textron Systems Weapon & Sensor Systems G-CLAWs, Raytheon Enhanced Paveway 4, and Lockheed Martin Hellfire and DAGR.

Although it will not accommodate any air-to-air or air-to-surface radar, the Scorpion will be able to carry various infrared air-to-air missiles and wing-mounted gun pods that could be useful, among the others, for SMI (Slow Mover Interception) missions.

Indeed, at 3,000 USD per flight hour and with stall speeds of less than 100 knots, Scorpion jet could really represent a cost-effective solution to enforce Temporary Flight Restrictions and NFZs (No Fly Zones) to protect chunks of the U.S. airspace.

The journey to the UK included stopovers in Montréal (Canada), Keflavik (Iceland), Edinburgh (UK) and Chalgrove (UK).

It can be best used for Anti Terrorist operations or in areas where the enemy don't have Air Force but How much it would be useful when you are developing latest drones is a big question @Aeronaut

Pakistan doesn't need this. TTP is screwed out of NW, we won't let them come back. What we really need is attack helicopters.

When I said Pakistan should buy this I was saying this Plane is best for that role only which ever country uses it Man
