Indeed, there are some major changes in design between 1st prototype in 2014 with 3rd prototype in 2020

This is the 1st prototype in 2014

This is the 3rd Prototype in 2020

And the J-35 5th Gen Stealth Fighter (Based on this FC/J-31) for Chinese Aircraft Carrier Fleet soon will be revealed in next week (2021)

J-20, J/FC-31, and J-35.

J-35 itself is a Naval Variant of J/FC-31 intended to fill the role of 5th Gen Stealth Fighter for growing Chinese Aircraft Carriers Fleet.

Pakistan Next Generation Stealth Fighter Project (PF-X) or known to be PROJECT AZM rumoured to be based on this J/FC-31 also. But need further info to clarify
