I live in India but consider myself a world citizen and today there is no society that needs more support that Syria. Hence my temporary allegiance. Its also to piss off warabs and amrikhan monkeys who fund wars across the world.

Well one of these days it was bound to happen.
A country with 1+ billion or so cannot be in treated this way.
May be Indian masses (I may not know) are now much better off than 60s, and thus demanding a stronger stance in the world.

Its not a question of 1.2 billion people. Its about having faith that your country can do anything and being proud of it.

For generations till the late 80's, Indians looked to other people as superior. Being colonized repeatedly, you lose confidence. Even after colonization, you are in a hell hole of poverty and West is heaven. Thus 'The white man knows best' syndrome was prevalent heavily.

Indians always said they were proud of India even before 90's, but no one could say why they are proud of India. There were no substantial reasons except that they were born India. All Indians could do was point at ancient ages as consolation.

Today, folks have more faith on themselves. Our economic growth - when India was growing faster than the other countries - coupled with Indians becoming global leaders - from Pepsi to Citibank etc has made folks feel we are as good if not better than any in the globe.

Indians when they leave Delhi and reach New York are no longer as awed as they used to be. This is getting reflected across every sphere of Indian lives. Are no longer as less educated as they used to be.

I don't think anyone should fear from the resurgent India that stands up for fairness and equality among nations.

This is not a question of equality for all. We just want equality for India and Indians. We are and will be like any power in the world - looking for our own people's interests, not humanity in general.

By the way what do you mean when you said

Read up on the Italian case and how Italian Govt had to run rings around Indian judicial system. That was when we cleared to those folks that Indian judicial system is more important than Italian concerns.

How French offered aid to Indian Govt after tsunami hit India and India rejected the aid and said we can take care of our own. French govt was angry, there were editorials upon articles on how India is growing 'arrogant' in French papers.

How Indian Navy Ships were among the first to reach foreign countries to help out their people.

How when Rafale was chosen, UK papers asked Govt to cut off aid to India, and Indian officials said that we have already asked Britain to stop aid to India.
Look at how they start on poverty **** every time India launches a Space mission.

To now US - who took India for granted. They wont be doing that again.

All this has happened in 1 decade.

Actually the issue was identified 5 years back and GOI choose to ignore the warnings.

1. The US government accountability office (GAO) published a report which identified 42 instances of diplomats in the US accused of abusing foreign employees they had brought to the country between 2000 and 2008. Also in 2008, the William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorisation Act strengthened protections offered to employees of diplomats and consular officials and made it possible to censure employers.
Under this law, domestic workers must be made aware of their rights in this country directly by consular officers and, most relevant to the Khobragade case, diplomats are required to have a contract with a domestic worker containing conditions of employment.

2. Then few diplomats were prosecuted and was asked to pay retribution which included couple of Indian diplomats who had full immunity - Neena Malhotra(who ran away to India without paying) and Prabhu Dayal(who settled for an undisclosed money with the maid) - Did these IFS community think of this as a warning? No. They though they can still flout the laws.

3. Then a warning came when the US DOS informed the Indian embassy of the case against Devyani in September. And again IFS/MEA everyone thought it is an empty threat.

And US acted as per the law of the land. The GOI sat on it all the while ignoring all the signs and now these people whip up a frenzy and will blame everyone for the turn of events and think that anyone including the diaspora who disagree with their opinion insult India.

But at the end of the day, these self-appointed patriotic certificate issuers(not that one cares much about these folks) does not know it is the Diaspora and the NRIs who is paying for these people's gold and oil imports by offsetting the negative balance of payments by their record deposits and remittances(together it came to about $126 billion last year while remittance alone was around $69 billion).

And in Aug this year, when the rupee value was dipping, GOI turned not to these self-appointed patriots to rescue the rupee but to the diaspora to buy the bonds and arrest the sliding of the rupee.

And foreign policy especially relationships with countries with which India does not share a border is not a major item on the election agenda.

So you see these are empty shouts worth nothing while it is business as usual on the other side.

This does not mean that Americans must peep into the cavities.

Will you tolerate if this happened to your mom, daughter, or sis in India. Won't you complain of molestation by lady cops. I honestly want an answer from you for this hypothetical scenario.

WHY DID YOU PEOPLE FORGET YOUR CULTURAL HISTORY and just spit yourself by lying on your back, is it because you felt you gain more benefits by forgetting your culture.

You don't know anything about me and how long I have been visiting this forum, etc. etc.

Shoot the message not the messenger.

My question is not intended towards you but across NRI in general but I don't have reach to ask them all. You are free to ignore me because you need not take the burden of representing the NRIs.
