What is the opinion on Nasheeds if any brother here has knowledge, I tried searching the web but came short.

I know the Prophet didn't like poets and poetry, but at the same time he allowed the poets in medina to poeticize Islam as a counter towards those who were demonising it through poetry. So I am thinking that Nasheeds are ok, because it praises Islam, but at the same time I am not too sure.

All very much classified in quran. Don't think poetry or poet are haram, but yes certain type is haram ....

As far as I know, poetry that glorify ghir- ullah (away from God) is prohibited. Now it’s open to interpretation.

Hamd, Na'at is perfectly allowed if poetry is derived from Aqaid, Quran and Sunnah.

If you are asking about music thing, then Music is Haram, some people in Pakistan try to make haram a halal which is even bigger sin.

You are asking for a legal Islamic ruling (fatwa) on a defence forum? From random people who you don't even know?

Remember, the ignorant are swift to pass judgements while the knowledgeable are reluctant to do so.

If your concern is music, then know that throughout Islam's history, the majority of scholars have deemed instrumental music as haraam but an 'important' minority of scholars hasn't deemed all instrumental music haraam.

One may listen to nasheeds but if you find that all you listen to is naaheeds and the listening of nasheeds has replaced the recitation and listening of Quran in your life, then you must exercise caution.

الشمائل المحمدية

Jabir ibn Samurah radiyallahu anhu says, I attended the assemblies of Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam more than a hundred times, wherein the Sahaabah radiyallahu anhum recited poetry and related stories of the Jaahiliyyah (pre-Islamic era). Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam silently listened to them (and did not forbid them). At times he smiled with them

Ash-Sharid said, "The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, asked me to recite the poetry of Umayya ibn Abi's-Salt and I recited it. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, began to say, 'Go on, go on!' until I had recited a hundred lines.' The Prophet said, 'If only he had become Muslim.'"

  • Typically in the mosque it is stated to not recite poetry and if poetry takes you away from Islamic values then it is waste

MUSIC
Generally Music is also quite prominent in Muslim Heritage

Narrated Aisha:

That once Abu Bakr came to her on the day of `Id-ul-Fitr or `Id ul Adha while the Prophet (ﷺ) was with her and there were two girl singers with her, singing songs of the Ansar about the day of Buath. Abu Bakr said twice. "Musical instrument of Satan!" But the Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Leave them Abu Bakr, for every nation has an `Id (i.e. festival) and this day is our `EId."

If it has instruments or haram lyrics, it is regarded as haram. Otherwise, it's fine.

So is music is allowed so long as it praises Islam or Allah, for example Sami Yusuf? And poetry that takes you away from Islam is disallowed.

About music there's a difference among scholars...
However about lyrics, there's no difference ..If the lyrics contain haram or shirkiya words or theme then such lyrics are haram.

Why is it harm? Provide proof and text.

All I know is music becomes haram when it cause major changes in your mood. So like depression and ect.

No. Since I am only one Muslim in 1.8 billion Muslims and all of us are equal my view only carries 1 of 1.8 billionth currency.
