People often confuse things that are not racist as racist.
For example, I may feel more comfortable being friends with someone who has a similar worldview as mine, and such a person may happen to be of the same race as I am. That is not racist.
I may prefer the habits, traditions, and food that I grew up with. Again, that is not racist.
I may find people who look similar to me more aesthetically appealing. Not racist.
Racism is "a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race" - Merriam-Webster.
