April 30 tentative date for LG polls: CM
Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has said all preparations, including delimitations, have been completed for local government polls and April 30 has been proposed to the Supreme Court for the purpose.
“Now in light of the directives of the apex court, the provincial government is fully prepared for any date fixed by the Election Commission of Pakistan”, he told the delegations of the provincial office-bearers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Insaf Students Federation (ISF).
The delegations called on the chief minister in the Chief Minister’s Secretariat separately, said a handout.The delegation of the PTI provincial office-bearers was led by provincial president Azam Khan Swati while ISF team was led by its provincial president Sohail Afridi.
The chief minister said the local government system would empower people at the grassroots level. He said under the system, besides maximum administrative powers, 30 percent development funds of the provincial government would also be transferred to the local governments.
Terming LG polls very important for the party and people of KP, the chief minister stressed on the PTI office- bearers to strictly adhere to the party discipline. The chief minister said owing to better performance, revolutionary steps and people-friendly policies of the provincial government, we will not only win the local government elections, but will also remain triumphant in the next general elections from the whole country.
Regarding complaints about negative attitude of police and patwaris with the people,
the chief minister said corruption and bribery have been rooted out to a great extent in both police stations and patwar khanas (revenue offices) and now steps are being taken for bringing positive change in their behavior with the people.
