Apache AH-64D Block III vs
Mi-28NE: What is good for India?

India invited bids for 22 modern combat helicopters, now decision for 22 modern attack helicopters is nearing as the trails of the Boeing AH64 D Block III Apache attack helicopter & MiL Mi-28NE attack helicopter have been completed and final evaluation is on.

US offer

Expecting an early decision on the attack helicopter deal, the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) notified the US Congress earlier this year, for a possible sale of 50 T700-GE-701D engines, 12 AN/APG-78 Fire Control Radars, 12 AN/APR-48A Radar Frequency Interferometers, 812 AGM-114L-3 Hellfire Longbow missiles, 542 AGM-114R-3 Hellfire II missiles, 245 Stinger Block I-92H missiles, and 23 Target Acquisition Designation Sight/Pilot Night Vision Sensors. The equipment constitutes the foreign military sales component of the sale while the 22 AH-64D Block III Apache platforms will be sold directly by Boeing to India.

Russian offer

The Mi-28NE uses the Ataka missile racks along with B-13L rocket pods, each able to carry S-13 rockets. Other rocket options include the S-8 rockets. The Atakas have 4 variants for different tasks. The 9M120 Tandem High Explosive Anti-Tank (HEAT) warhead variant is used against tanks fitted with Explosive Reactive Armor (ERA), its penetrative ability is stated at 800 mm Rolled Homogeneous Armour (RHA). The 9M120F Thermobaric variant is used against infantry, buildings, bunkers, and caves. The 9M120O expanding rod warhead variant is used against other helicopters. All the variants have a range of 6 km. The 9M120M improved version has a longer range (8 km) and better penetration (900 mm of RHA).

I don't get it, i mean test were completed last year and still nothing...but i really hope if we go for russian chopper we go for ka-52.

IMO, Apache AH-64D Block III is best choice. We are going to Buy 22 such helicopter in starting. More in later phase. Hopefully, When time of Induction will come around 2013-2014 then We will also start inducting HAL LCH Attack helicopter. Around 200 is on order.

We also buying 15 odd heavy lift CH-47 Chinook or Russian one.

Russia is promoting the new Mi-28NE the new export version of the 'Night Hunter' combat helicopter.

Russian Mi-28NE is competing against the American AH-64D Apache, on the Indian tender for the supply of 22 attack helicopters.

I know that but we can ask for the field test for K-52 also, russians won't mind. My personnel favorite is of course Apache.

I am not sure about this. Officially only IAF has inked a deal with HAL. What we are reading on the web is actually the requirement of IA and they want to purchase 114 atleast but neither MOD or CCS has sanctioned this yet.
The problem is with IAF's objection, IAF wants the control of transport and attack chopper but IA wants them because everyone including In thinks that each service should have choppers of their own because inter-service cooperation is not so easy and in the end operational effectiveness is effected by this.
Bad news is no defence minister wants to get in between the inter-service turf war. This issue is on table for more than 2 decades but no solution and not enough talks to reach any solution simply because MOD don't want to get involved in a place which is actually their job.

Apache AH-64D Block III vs Mi-28NE

My choice is Mi-28NE , It can do all that Apache can do at the price of 12 million against Apache's 18 million USD !

Well Russia is competing with the advanced version of MI-26 Helicopter , which is the only Helicopter in the World to lift Chinook Heavy lift Helicopter
Mil Mi-26 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
India currently operate 4 Mi 26 , India had acquired 6 of these in 1980s , and 2 have crashed since then
IAF had extensively used MI-26 for lifting Bofors Guns to the front-line during the Kargil war

.
with USA strings are attached Russia puts everything down on the deal plus they are cheaper and just as advanced if not better we gave Americans good slice of pie with C-17/C-130J now lets give Russia some of the pie

If you read the specs Apache blk III is almost a generation ahead of any chopper in existence.

Also whats with you ? Why are you comparing Apache with Mi26 and also posting the pic of Mi26 ? First one is heavy attack and second one is heavy lift chopper.
