Anyone with experience on how to deal with a parent who is extremely unwell?

@Dubious BTW, this the second case of Parkinson, with same story, ifaik. Spouse children left, and after few years diagnosed with Parkinson. I don't know whether it is reversible or not, but I think I know the route cause.

.
Make her do yoga. I will find sukta of veda. If she hears that, her mental and physical condition will improve rapidly. Give me some time.

This is just a 5 minute stotram. Make her listen this for few time and check what happens. Share your experiences.

There is some sort of saying ' there is a cure for everything, except age'.

If there is 'no cure', what they mean is that there is no cure in Western medicine. There will be a cure in other systems of healing, like Yoga or Chinese medicine.

Yoga control and virtually Heal anything.

In my personel experience, that's pretty much spot on.
Yoga is unfortunately seen an practiced as some postures. Yoga is much more than that . I heard a lady saying that her uncurable illness was cured because of just living for few months in sadguru's Ashram.

Thats interesting...Modern science is still looking for the root cause :)

I was also diagnosed with a disease once, but turned out that it was my job I didn't like. I also have seen a guy, whose hand was paralysed, and in last, it turned out that he didn't like his wife, cus after separation, his hand became functional again. I saw a garden, whose owner died, and just in few days, old trees died, and apearantly, there was no reason. I saw a man got paralyses few days after leaving his job.
Bandon ko judai Mar jati hai, or kbhi kisi ka hona marta hai. So, Jo mujhe nazar aaya, woh main nain keh dia.
The 2 you mentioned are [psychological diseases]...His mom is diagnosed with a neurological one which can be best described as Parkinson's disease affects the nerve cells in the brain that produce dopamine. Parkinson's disease symptoms include muscle rigidity, tremors, and changes in speech and gait.

The rating scale will assess motor symptoms such as movement and tremors, as well as non-motor symptoms such as loss of smell. There are five different stages of Parkinson's disease, starting with mildest and leading up the most severe. There are commonalities in each stage, but the severity of symptoms will differ.

By 'Uncurable' they always mean uncurable by western medicine. My Chinese doctor cured her aunty of Alzheimers, an uncurable disease in the West.

I have heard of people being cured diabetes and cancer in ashrams.

Everybody in the sub-continent, Hindu or Muslim, should be taught the 7 cleansing techniques of Hatha yoga. Rule no.1 of health care is don't fall ill in the first place.

10 Habits for great health in Sanskrit according to Ayurveda!

What is Ayurveda really?
For most of us, Ayurveda is just another way of treating illnesses with medicines that are made up of herbs. Well, Ayurveda is much much more than that and today, on National Ayurveda Day, we are going to explore that.

Ayurveda is the Upaveda (sub or near to veda) of Atharva veda. It’s also called Panchama veda (5th veda). The word Ayurveda is made of two words Ayu and Veda. The word Ayu doesn’t mean just life, instead it means –

शरीरेन्द्रिय सत्वात्मा संयोगो। – चरक संहिता १।४२
śarīrendriya satvātmā saṃyogo।1.42
The union of Shareera (body), Indriya (sense organs), Satva (mind) and Atma (soul).

and Veda means knowledge. Hence, Ayurveda means the knowledge of the union of body, sense organs, mind and soul. So when people bless saying ‘दीर्घायुषी भव।’ (dīrghāyuṣī bhava।) it means let you be in union with all the above factors for a long time!

Long time ago, our sages took a note of the fact that people are becoming greedy, getting diseases and are not happy compared to what they were in the past. Some sages went in search of a remedy to cure diseases, make people remain healthy and happy. When they went to lord Indra, he preached the knowledge of Ayurveda to the sages, who then preached the same to their students and so on so forth. From there on the saga of Ayurveda started, for the sole purpose of betterment of mankind.

Principles that govern Ayurveda
स्वस्थस्य स्वास्थ्य रक्षणं, आतुरस्य विकार प्रशमनं। (चरक संहित सूत्र ३०।२६)
svasthasya svāsthya rakṣaṇaṃ, āturasya vikāra praśamanaṃ। (Caraka Saṃhita Sūtra 30।26)
Ayurveda Shastra aims at keeping a healthy person healthy and managing or curing diseases (mind, body or both) that manifest in a person

It is interesting how initially Western medicine was for the body, now they have evolved into 'mind and body'. When they get to 'mind, body and soul' they will be where the Indians were 3,000 years ago!:sarcastic:

my dad was bed ridden and totally dependent for a year, he had that tube inserted for food and excretion and it was painful even to look at him, we had a full time male nurse (certified) to take care of him.

Health care there would be extremely expensive i presume, time for you and your sister to pay back for all the work and efforts she did for you.

P.S I was the only child of my folks, i never opted to go abroad for higher studies because apart from finances i could not leave my parents alone in their retired life, now both of them are gone and we are now debating immigration but in our 40's soon we will be in their state ... oh the irony of life

There are two types of knowledge. One which you get from the intellect by bisecting and analysis analysing the external things. Other kind of knowledge is something you get from realization and experience when your Chitta is on highest stage of its realisation. You don't need external means to get this knowledge , but it evolve inside yourself at the time of realization. Historically India has always focused on second type of knowledge, and hence is different from the knowledge of first type.

In the West this is called 'insight'; in the Islamic world it's called ( I think) tajulli. Nowadays we all focus on the first type. The second one needs a certain kind of person.

I spoke to my mom regarding my mother going back to Pakistan and getting full time care there. According to him the quality of caregiving help she will receive in Pakistan is poor and the medication that she needs is not available in Pakistan.

I am not convinced on either reason to be honest. I refuse to believe that Parkinson's medication like LovaDopa, Cardiodopa and blood pressure and blood flow increase to the brain medication is not available in Pakistan. Perhaps some doctors over here can shed light on this
