Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif visited the Working Boundary in Sialkot on Thursday and met troops as well as local residents.

According to DG Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Asim Saleem Bajwa, the COAS visited the areas most affected by Indian violations and appreciated the efforts of both soldiers and residents with high spirits.

The COAS also said that repeated Indian cross border violations on the Working Boundary are meant as a distraction for Pakistan from the war against terrorism.

He went on to say that there should be no doubt that any provocation along the Working Boundary will be met with a befitting response.

That is what i am saying. if pakistan can break USSR the super power of that time what is India than .. ??? the problem with east pakistan was that it was not linked directly to pakistan otherwise the situation would have been different

There is no Denying that one of the major Cause of Soviet Integration was their Economy but that Economy would have SURVIVED 5-10 more years if they were not facing Afghan Resistance assisted by Pakistan directly. Indian maybe 4rth Largest Power but Pakistan also have Backups that are strong enough to counter India at the time of Need and in the end resort we have Nukes for MAD. So Indians wont be able to compensate their Gains against Pakistan no matter how Big India is.

It clearly mentions that role of Pakistan was only limited to assisting United States & CIA in their efforts to back up Afghan Resistance. Now let's be fair. CIA cannot operate by itself in Afghanistan. For that you need a dedicated Pak support who is well versed with the region . Well if i were to judge i would say that Pak intelligence unit & Establishment was for working for United States ( including CIA). Well one could argue that without Pak assistance CIA's efforts to back up Afghan Resistance would not have see the day of light & thus could have prevented one of the major causes of disintegration of USSR.. And hence could have even prevented it from happening. By so called "Butterfly effect" one can claim it's true .But thats not how we weigh down the cause of such a major event in human history. @levina. Help me in explaining it better.
