KARACHI: Modern anti-submarine helicopters received from China have been inducted in Pak Navy, Geo News reported Wednesday.

Addressing a ceremony regarding incorporation of anti-submarine copters in Pak Navy, Chief of Naval Staff Noman Bashir said Pakistan does not want arms race; but, it has to keep up its naval forces and capacity up to date.

According to Pak Navy spokesman Salman, these helicopters are specially armed to spot submarines and destroy them.

Noman Bashir said at least 100 ships are patrolling Indian Ocean at a time which indicates unusual security measures in the region.

Pakistan Navy is keeping up its full-fledged force to safeguard its interests in the region, which will ensure the balance of power in the region.

Its great news. Z9C has service range of 1000 kilometers and could be used to protect floating vessels in the sea. But low flying helicopters can itself become an easy target of submarines. What is its effective scanning range? And from what distance Subs are able to track and hit such targets? Need some review by the field specialists please.

Nope... Only German subs will feature self defence weapon which has the advantage of firing while submerged... only few subs can fire SAMs but only on surface and a great great risk of being detected and destroyed.

Did pakistan navy conduct trials on these ? Or they are purchased to maintain the "strategic relationship" ?

Yes, all these were trialled and considered for induction many years ago, and now with finally the Navy induction of the F22 P and other Chinese Naval equipment have been formally inducted.

So it has been an old thing, nothing new or desperate.

Its a mixture of both... both platforms are of same standard.... i mean dont expect a KA-32 to be sitting on F-22P....

why dont i see a ASW radar dome or something like it

................The economic alternative :what:

There are many other good Chinese anti sub warfare systems and suits, why the PN would still go for the Economic alternative is , well, ..... economical, to be modest and conservative.

On a sadder note: you will not be very impressed to hear that of the other countries currently operating this Heli, include, Mauratania and Mali. I mean, we could have done better!!

Hi, Please progress in your country with the help of universities and graduate talent rather than buying toys, like helicopters?

And, what would you say to the fact that:

"in the absence of "TOYS" like these, that your peace loving country will be turned into another GH AZA"

Dude! both are a must. Holding on to one while rejecting the other is just stupidity and childishness.

The real world of the "Realpolitik" is very different than your fabled world of idealistic naivety. I wish it werent, "But it is" :disagree:

Islamabad, Sep 30 (PTI) The Pakistan Navy today inducted two anti-submarine warfare helicopters acquired from China at a ceremony in the southern port city of Karachi.

The Z9EC helicopters belong to the first batch of six helicopters to be procured under a contract signed with the China National Aero Technology Import and Export Corporation.

The copters, fitted with pulse compression radar, low frequency dipping sonar, radar warning receiver and a Doppler navigation system, have been built according to Pakistan's specific requirements and are configured to carry torpedoes.

Naval chief Admiral Noman Bashir, who attended the ceremony, told reporters that Pakistan is not part of any arms race though it is committed to maintain the quality of naval platforms and to enhance its capabilities in consonance with developments in the region.
