This whole incident in my opinion is related to the elections. I just wish that a day will come in Pakistan when we can have peaceful elections.

Athenian style democracy as advocated by the west won't cut in Pakistan until feudal politics ends.

Iagree that in the short term we will have problems. But the process should be allowed to continue as this would be the only way of weeding out dross like Zardari and the Chaudaries of Gujrat and the sharifs. .The army should bash a few heads around but let the game continue till its logical end. Marshal Laws in Pakistan in many ways have been more harmful than the politicians. Mind you Iam not saying that our politicians have not brought this on themselves! They do this entirely because of their inability to manage a situation, and consequently military intervention gives them the breathing space for them to come back and pillage the country again.

I donot agree with you!

Pakistan is not meant for Democracy!... The people in key Political positions are corrupt and they can not change! Only death can replace the faces on the front stage of Politics in Pakistan.

PtbP, just think about what you are saying....

People in key political positions have a very high chance of being/becoming corrupt, hence the cliche "power corrupts".

Democracy is a way to keep corruption in check, and not the other way around.

How exactly do you think that an absolute leader will be better? Don't you think he will go overboard with corruption? Most despots make a truckload of money, and get far richer than any democratic leader. The thing is, that people just never come to know about it!

Having faith in the democratic process is not the same thing as having faith in the democratic leaders.
Infact, it is your duty to be eternally suspicious of your leaders, but ensure the functioning of the judiciary and other checks & balances.
