Four people, including ANP candidate Haroon Bilour, were killed and at least 20 others wounded in a blast at Awami National Party’s political gathering in Peshawar, SAMAA TV reported Tuesday.
The blast occurred as the ANP leader, Haroon Bilour, arrived at the stage to address supporters in Yaka Toot area.
Bilour was contesting the election from PK-78 Peshawar. He was ANP’s provincial information secretary.
Haroon was son of Bashir Ahmed Bilour, a senior ANP figure who was himself martyred in a suicide blast in Peshawar in 2012.
Reports said Haroon Bilour’s 16-year old son, Daniyal, was also wounded. He is said to be stable.
The bodies and injured were taken to Lady Reading hospital.
Police have not confirmed nature of the blast, but they suspect that it was a suicide attack.
The Bomb Disposal Squad says that it was a suicide bomb, sources said.
