In protest against the decision of Ministry of External Affairs to deny visas to #Pakistani academics for attending a seminar in #NewDelhi, nearly 80 scholars from several universities such as Yale, Harvard and Princeton have mooted a resolution to not hold conferences in such countries any more, The Indian Express has reported.

#India had banned the scholars from attending the conference organised by the Association for Asian Studies and Ashoka University in New Delhi. The Association for Asian Studies (AAS), since 2014, has been holding an annual conference called AAS in Asia.

About 80 scholars attended a protest meeting, which raised enough funds to rent a hall at the conference’s venue in New Delhi so that the banned academics could join them digitally.

our FO is still living in 1970s and 80 era diplomacy while every tom herry dick even afghans BD bark us and get away . diplomacy become so bold in recent years no more respect all is BULL SCRAP but Pakistanis living in some other age . Pakistani have to react in past 5 years100 times but we did not . we lose all the respect . ban sikhs - hindus pilgrims for one year or ask them to bring paper signed from Indian prime minister then we will issue a visa . you will see all is settle down ,

The Zardari/Nawaz Shareef league have made Pakistan into an apologetic soft hearted nation. BD AFG have the courage to blame and mock us as they know nothing will be said in return. Pakistanis support the Palestinian cause but gets nothing return in the sense of support for the Kashmir cause. The fault lies with our political elite. We need to stop this open heart policy. I have to agree with the Indian government on this. Nothing trumps security and the world has already seen what pakistanis do in uk, India and other countries . Why take the risk of a terrorist sneaking in ?
The next meet can be held in Pakistan and they can deny visas to the Indians in retaliation.

Fun thing is that if organized in Pakistan, most of the academics won't show up by themselves. For security reasons obviously.
