Anil Kumble has reportedly stepped down as the head coach of the Indian cricket team. Kumble was expected to join the Indian cricket team team in West Indies after an ICC board meet. There is no official confirmation made by the BCCI yet.
His decision comes after the BCCI decided to not renew his one-year contract and invited fresh applications for the post.
During Kumble’s tenure as India’s head coach from last June, the Virat Kohli-led team has conquered all comers both at home and away. They have vanquished the West Indies in the Caribbean and New Zealand, England, Bangladesh and Australia in home Test series en route to consolidating their No 1 position in the ICC Test rankings.
They have not lost any of the limited-overs series either during this period, apart from a 0-1 loss to West Indies in a rain-affected T20 series in the United States. With such an impressive CV in a short time, it was but natural for anyone to expect an extension of Kumble’s one-year contract.

Hours after resigning as India coach, Anil Kumble tweeted "thank you!", and attached a statement to his tweet. The full text of the statement is as follows:

I am honoured by the confidence reposed in my by the CAC, in asking me to continue as Head Coach. The credit for the achievements of the last one year goes to the captain, the entire team, coaching and support staff.

Post this intimation, I was informed for the first time yesterday by the BCCI that the Captain had reservations with my 'style' and about my continuing as the Head Coach. I was surprised since I had always respected the role boundaries between Captain and Coach. Though the BCCI attempted to resolve the misunderstandings between the Captain and me, it was apparent that the partnership was untenable, and I therefore believe it is best for me to move on.

Professionalism, discipline, commitment, honesty, complementary skills and diverse views are the key traits I bring to the table. These need to be valued for the partnership to be effective. I see the Coach's role akin to 'holding a mirror' to drive self-improvement in the team's interest.

In light of these 'reservations', I believe it is best I hand over this responsibility to whomever the CAC and BCCI deem fit.

Let me reiterate that it has been an absolutely privilege to have served as Head Coach for the last one year. I thank the CAC, BCCI, CoA and all concerned.

I also wish to thank the innumerable followers and fans of Indian cricket for their continued support. I will remain a well-wisher of the great cricketing tradition of my country forever.

Frankly, it is not Kumble but Kohli who has to go. Kohli is not a captain material. India should consider making some level head like Pujara as captain.

so who will be next coach of Indian team?
They are playing with WI after few days

No one would like to partner with a hot head like Kohli.

Captain wants to run his own monkey show with no accountability or responsibility. In other places more money brings in more professionalism in India its reverse. Now kohli will ask for some ra..ra guy ravi shastri who likes to sing paeans about him. Official butt kisser appointment will be confirmed very soon.

One thing comes in mind that why not step down sethi... if he takes step down our happiness can be the double one on wining of india and the other on his step down....

Lets see who is selected. To be honest I believe Kumble was doing a fine job...But then there were some rumours circulating before the Champions Trophy about a rift between Kohli and Kumble...But it was dismissed...

Kohli will learn with time and he is getting maturity day by day if we look at how hyper he was during his early days. He is not as cool headed as Dhoni but he was better option after Dhoni resigned .. Pujara cannot even make his place in playing 11 so how could he be appointed as captain of ODI and t20 Team?

People were blaming sethi after first loss against India but they don't give credit to Sethi when team started winning and won champion trophy at the end lol

Well actually kohli should be removed!!! Is is a senseless captain!!! Kumble did an excellent job no doubts at all!!

Agree, he's not mature yet. Captain needs to have a cool head and his feet grounded. Star player overriding professionalism.

Kohli has asked for ravi shastri and every one knows why.
Forgot about kumble even the court appointed administrator of BCCI ran away after finding the BCCI's atrocious standards.

May be but I am not convinced. The other day I saw the reaction on his face when someone dropped the catch and it was not a pleasant sight. I can accept a bowler getting ticked off when a catch is dropped but not the skipper. One could be angry but showing so overtly does not help the team. The person leading the team needs to demonstrate composure. His field placements are also very ordinary. He does not seem to talk to wicket keeper or bowlers on field placement (seems like some ego issue). A captain needs to act as one among the team rather than king of the team.

Pujara has good temperament and talent. His not being in the team is not due to lack of skill but politics.

anyway this credit does not go to the Sethi... The work of Sethi is not that to train the team as coach. He just performs the administrative tasks nothing else.
