Off to Japan from July 6-8 to attract investments to AP
I will be flying to Japan tonight for three days in order to sign a few MoUs and finalize investments of Japanese firms in our Andhra Pradesh.
This will be my second visit to Japan. As part of this visit, I will have a slew of meetings with executives from Fuji Electric, Mitsubishi Corporation, Mayekawa Manufacturing, Sumitomo Corporation and others.
I will also be meeting with JICA, JBIC, METI, NEDO, MLIT, Bank of Tokyo, Mizuho Bank, Yokohama Port representatives and my dear friend, Masayoshi Son, CEO and Founder of Softbank.
I'm also planning to meet Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and invite him for the foundation stone-laying ceremony of our capital, Amaravati.
This trip, I'm sure, will bring in several investments (resulting in jobs for locals) from Japanese investors from the Land of Rising Sun to the Sunrise State of Andhra Pradesh.

Japan Visit - Day 1 Report
In my second visit to Japan in order to strengthen Andhra Pradesh’s position on the global investment map, we have finalized a slew of investment proposals from Japanese companies/investors in our state.
I started my day by meeting representatives of Fuji Electric. During my earlier visit, Fuji Electric said it would conduct a feasibility report for a smart grid project.
Today's meeting was a follow-up of the team's field studies. Fuji electric has identified a site in Vijayawada for the smart grid project. The project in Vijayawada will be taken up on pilot basis. However, the main project will be concentrated in the state capital.
In order to make Andhra Pradesh’s smart grid project the best in the country, Fuji Electric representatives presented a research report after analyzing weather, wind direction and correlation between weather and power demand.
They suggested two models of developing a smart grid project. The first is to develop a model smart grid project for the state and the second being, partnership of AP with Fuji Electric where they can together offer consultancy services to other states in the country.
In my second meeting with Mitsubishi Corporation, Mr. Yasuhiko Kitagawa, the president of the company, came forward to partner with Andhra Pradesh under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
I'm extremely happy that they are setting up Japan Information and Study Centre at Andhra University. This Centre, under CSR, will promote Japanese language courses and introduce locals to the Japanese culture.

Meanwhile, Mayekawa said that that a technical team will visit the Godavari districts during August to study fish processing units in the state.
Mayekawa also suggested that Andhra Pradesh have a dedicated Japan desk in the country. He told me that this will generate an interest among Japanese investors. I'm positive about this idea.
I also had meeting with representatives from Yokohama Port. They will prepare an action plan for AP’s ports. Another meeting with Sumitomo was on Bhavanapadu port and a 1,000MW power project.
Later, I had meetings with JICA and JBIC heads. They told me they will consider the Capital consultancy bid and participate in power project financing of Chennai Bangalore Industrial Corridor. We also discussed on Metro Rail and Power Projects.
On the whole, it was a hectic day with back-to-back meetings and a few collaborations between AP and Japanese companies. We will also sign MoUs in the coming days.
I'm happy to notice that Japanese investors have a positive sentiment towards Andhra Pradesh and India. This means we can attract good number of investments.

Japan visit – Day 2 & Day 3 report
On Day 2 and day 3 of my Japan visit, we have signed two MoUs. One was with Mizuho Bank and the other one with NEC.
During my interaction with Mr. Tatsufumi Sakai, Managing Executive Officer, of Mizuho Bank, I invited them to set up their Indian headquarters in Amaravati.
Mizuho Bank is the second largest bank in Japan and has one of the largest client bases. Mr. Sakai told me he will encourage their clients to explore investment opportunities in Andhra Pradesh.
Another meeting was with my friend Masayoshi Son, founder and CEO of SoftBank. I'm glad to state that SoftBank has come forward to set up 20GW solar power plant in AP under the ‘Make in India’ initiative.
During our conversations, Mr. Son has always told me that he is interested in investing in Renewable Energy. This is his way of giving back to the society. He is also interested to offer scholarships to students who specialise in solar power engineering in our state.
In a bilateral meeting with His Excellency Mr. Yoichi Miyazawa, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan (METI), I was told that METI is interested in equity participation in capital development and management. METI has also offered financial assistance for our metro rail project.
Today, we have signed an MoU with NEC. They will assist us in Safe-City project and also in cyber security, road transport systems and broadband connectivity.
NEC will also establish a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Safe City which shall undertake R&D, Capacity Building and Consultancy on Technological Aspects relating to establishing safe cities in India.
I have also met JGC Corporation representatives who have shown interest in setting up a refinery and cracker unit in our state.
During my meeting with Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC), they told me that Japan Research Institute (JRI) is ready to conduct feasibility study on eco-city and transportation systems in AP.
I have also had the opportunity to meet with Mr. Shinji Aoyama, COO of Motorcycle operations, Honda Motor Co. I have invited them to set up a plant in Andhra Pradesh, explaining the potential for the state to become a automobile manufacturing hub.
Six months after my first visit to Japan, I'm witnessing a positive sentiment from Japanese investors and companies about investing in our Sunrise Andhra Pradesh. I'm sure that these meetings will transform into investments and jobs for people.
I will strive hard until we reach our goal of making Sunrise Andhra Pradesh the best investment destination in the country.

HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who had christened the new capital city of the State after ancient Buddhist town Amaravati with an intention to woo investors from Buddhist countries, will be making an all-out attempt from Monday to persuade Japanese business giants to invest in the reorganised State.
Naidu, who reached Tokyo on Sunday, will be spending next two days there by holding a series of meetings with the representatives of various Japanese companies in order to attract investments to the State, besides entering into MoUs with some of them to help the State government in realising its dream of constructing a gigantic capital for AP, which will outdo Hyderabad city on all fronts.
The Chief Minister is also expected to meet Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to invite him to take part in the foundation stone laying ceremony of new capital city, scheduled to take place on October 22.
According to sources, Naidu already took the clearance from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to extend invitation to the Japanese Premier for the grand function, which will be graced by Modi himself.
On Monday, Naidu will be meeting representatives of Fuji Electric Co., Ltd, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, Mayekawa, Sumitomo Corporation, Mizuho Bank, Ltd, which is the integrated retail and corporate banking unit of Mizuho Financial Group.
On Tuesday, he is expected to hold confabulations with the top brass of SoftBank Group Corporation, which is a Japanese multinational telecommunications and Internet corporation, and Mizuho Financial Group, which is one of the prominent financial institutions in the world.
Sources said, during the tour, Naidu will clinch several key deals with the Japanese companies in order to set up their branches in AP.
“Mizuho Financial Group is likely to enter into an agreement with the AP government to provide its services to the State to transform it into an industrial hub,” an official said.
Tokyo-based NEC Corporation, a multinational provider of information technology services and products, is expected to make an agreement with the AP Technology Services Limited (APTS) to provide IT solutions to the State government’s efforts to develop smart cities in the State.
Naidu is also expected to call on Japanese Finance Minister in order to seek loans from the Japanese financial institutions for construction of the new capital city.
In fact, seeking to promote Japanese investments in AP, Chief Minister Naidu during his earlier visit to Japan promised the investors in that country that his government would set up dedicated industrial townships and clusters for Japanese in AP. He also told them that Japanese schools woul be set up in the State.
“Make AP as a destiny for Japanese investments, build another Tokyo in new capital region of AP there you have so many opportunities. I want to do business most efficiently and for that I am assuring you ease of doing business through speedier clearances, infrastructure and good governance,” Naidu told a Japanese delegation during its recent tour to Hyderabad.
Besides a battery of top officials from the State government, Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana are accompanying Naidu during his visit.

Chandrababu's invitation to Japanese PM for Amaravati's foundation ceremony
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday met Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in Tokyo and invited him to the foundation stone laying ceremony of state's new capital Amaravati. Naidu said Prime Minister Narendra Modi would also write to Abe inviting him for the ceremony to be held in October this year.
Abe assured Naidu that Japan will extend all technical and possible financial assistance to for infrastructure development and building of capital, said an official statement here. The chief minister also made a request for making some institutionalised arrangement for AP-Japan relationship, to which Abe agreed.
On the second day of his visit, Naidu also met with Akihiro Ohta of the ministry of land, infrastructure, transport and tourism (MLIT). Ohta said since Andhra Pradesh is constructing a new capital, MLIT is keen to extend cooperation in roads and buildings and infrastructure. Naidu sought MLIT's cooperation in building AP's ports, airports and roads.
Naidu also called on Tatsufumi Sakai, managing executive officer and head of international banking unit at Mizuho Bank, the second largest bank in Japan. He invited Mizuho Bank to set up their India headquarters in Amaravati. "We are planning to make our capital a financial hub," he said. Later,an MoU was signed between the bank and Andhra Pradesh.
The chief minister also met Soft Bank founder and CEO Masayoshi Son, who conveyed to him that Soft Bank will manufacture solar panels under 'Make in India' initiative and set up their manufacturing unit in Andhra Pradesh. Soft Bank has also come forward to sponsor scholarships to engineering students who are willing to specialize in solar power engineering. Son said that he will make a personal donation to the proposed 'Renewable Energy University' in Andhra Pradesh.

Shinzo Abe assures N Chandrababu Naidu of help in building Andhra Pradesh's capital
HYDERABAD: Japan has expressed interest in picking up equity stake in the development and management of Andhra Pradesh's greenfield capital city project. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has assured technical and financial assistance to the state for building infrastructure and the capital city.
The development comes within weeks of the Singapore government offering to prepare a detailed master plan for the capital city at Amaravati, between Vijayawada and Guntur.
Andhra Pradesh is building its capital city on a public-private partnership (PPP) model. It has procured over 33,000 acres from farmers under a land pooling model, offering stake in the developed infrastructure to the landowners, a first in India.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Chief Minister's Office said Japan's ministry of economy, trade and industry (Meti) has evinced interest in equity participation while interacting with the visiting Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
Andhra Pradesh's planning board vice-chairman, Cherukuri Kutumba Rao, said, "We were initially sceptical but finally succeeded in bringing on to the table two countries — Singapore and Japan. We were not sure if Japanese funding agencies would extend support to the capital city project since the master plan was prepared by another country — Singapore."
According to Rao, Andhra Pradesh needs an estimated $50 billion investment over the next 15 years for a new capital city.
Yoichi Miyazawa, Japanese minister of Meti, told Naidu in Tokyo on Tuesday that several Japanese companies were ready to be partners in AP's capital construction.
While Meti has offered financial assistance to the proposed metro rail project in AP's capital region, SoftBank has agreed to set up a 20GW of solar power plant and solar panel manufacturing facility in the state.
On Monday, Japan International Cooperation Agency's senior vice-president Domichi Hidaeki said the agency was keen to participate in the capital consultancy bid and also finance power projects coming up in the Chennai-Bangalore industrial corridor and Krishnapatnam industrial park.
Hidaeki said a good part of the $35 billion worth of investments that Japan had committed to India during the summit meeting between India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe could go into Andhra.
Mizuho Bank, Japan's second largest lender, signed a memorandum of understanding with the state government and assured it would encourage its clients to explore investment opportunities in the state.

Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is on a four-day visit to Japan to finalise investment proposals of Japanese companies and investors made during his earlier visit in November last.
The visiting delegation was told that the Yokohama Port of Japan, which is inclined at collaborating with the ports in Andhra Pradesh, would shortly prepare a master plan on the collaboration.
Naidu met representatives of Sumitomo Corporation, which had signed a MoU with AP for a power project last November. The feasibility study has been completed. “The next stage is to do fast track the 1,000 mw at Polaki in Srikakulam district,” Naidu said.
The AP government has decided to constitute a committee with two representatives each from Sumitomo and government of Andhra Pradesh to pursue and finalise the financing of the project.
Sumitomo also offered to help AP in increasing agricultural yields and would begin research and experimental work this month. Sumitomo’s infrastructure division evinced interest in sewerage treatment, water management, traffic signals and traffic plan, a statement from the chief minister’s office, said.
Naidu also held a meeting with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on the capital city, metro rail and power project. Accordingly, Domichi Hidaeki, senior vice-president of JICA, told the visiting delegation that it would consider participation in capital consultancy bid and also in power project financing of the Chennai-Bangalore Industrial Corridor (CBIC) and Krishnapatnam Industrial Park.
He also met executive managing director of Japan Bank of International Cooperation (JBIC) Koichi Yajima. JBIC said investor sentiment was rising in favour of India, as per its annual survey of investor sentiment.
SoftBank was preparing to invest in slow power in Andhra Pradesh and had sought the JBIC’s support. Sumitomo too was exploring cooperation from JBIC for the Srikakulam power project. Fuji Electric submitted a feasibility report on smart grid project, the pilot of which will be taken up at Vijayawada, according to the statement.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday invited Japanese automobile giant, Honda Motor Company to set up a plant in Andhra Pradesh.
On the third day of his visit to Japan, Mr. Naidu along with other members of A.P. delegation, undertook a train ride in Tokyo city and also visited the venue where the 2020 Olympic Games are scheduled to be held.
During his meeting with Shinji Aoyama, COO of Motorcyle Operations, Honda Motor Co, Mr. Naidu explained about the opportunities available for automobile manufacturing in the State and said that the auto companies could use the State as a manufacturing hub and export to Asia-Pacific region.
He said that the automobile and auto components policy unveiled by the State would allow ancillary units to function from the State and support the mother unit.
He also mentioned that Chennai-Bangalore and Vizag-Chennai Industrial Corridor would boost the investment potential in the State.
Mr. Naidu also met executives of JGC Corporation which operates in petroleum, power, water, new energy and industrial parks sectors. He invited the company to explore the possibility of establishing a petro-chemical corridor in the State while pointing to the presence of huge gas and energy reserves in Krishna-Godavari basin.
Responding to Mr. Naidu’s suggestion, JGC Corporation head said that the company was keen on setting up a refinery and cracker unit in A.P.

Japanese company Komamura keen to set up facility in India
HYDERABAD, JULY 9:
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on the last leg of his four day tour of Japan met with Komamura Corporation, which is stated to have expressed its interest to make lenses and cameras in India.
During a meeting with Naidu, Toshiyuki Komamura, President of the company, said, “We will explore the possibilities of setting up in Andhra Pradesh and export our equipment to other parts of the world.”
According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office, the company operates in the optics space and manufactures view/technical cameras, Pro-digital photo equipment, Pro-broadcasting equipment that are useful in rescue operations during disasters on land and sea at night time.
The Chief Minister invited the company to visit Andhra Pradesh and explore the facilities.
The Naidu’s delegation, which completed its four-day tour of Japan, is expected to arrive in New Delhi at 5.30 pm later today.
He is expected to meet Union Ministers in the national capital on Friday.

Japan's JGC keen on setting up refinery & cracker unit in Andhra Pradesh
HYDERABAD: Japan's diversified conglomerate JGC Corporation with interests in petroleum, power, water, new energy and industrial parks, has evinced interest to set up a refinery and cracker unit in Andhra Pradesh.
Interacting with the visiting AP chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday, JGC Corporation's chairman Masayuki Soto also expressed interest to partner with the South Indian state in food processing sector.
In another interaction, National Electronics Corporation ( NEC) of Japan has agreed to offer AP various services in the areas of safe city development at Tirupati. The Japanese elections giant agreed to offer AP the services in city surveillance system, smart transport management, smart policing, apart from setting up centre of excellence to undertake R&D, consultancy and capacity building on establishing safe cities in India.
Though Naidu has urged the Japanese automobile giant Honda Motorcycle to set up its manufacturing facility in AP, the two-wheeler producer did not offer any assurance but agreed to explore the opportunity. Its former Indian partner Hero MotoCorp has recently entered into an agreement with AP to set up its largest two-wheeler manufacturing facility near Chittoor on the Southern part of the state.
Japan Research Institute (JRI), a subsidiary of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) agreed to conduct feasibility study on an eco-city and transportation systems in AP. Toshiba has agreed to provide assistance to the Indian state in optimising power management.
In another development, the AP information technology minister Palle Raghnatha Reddy, who is currently in the US to lure global investors, said the US power production firm Hilliard Energy evinced interest to set up a US $600 million (Rs 3,600 crore) project in AP. Hilliard Energy's director Sterling Hilliard handed over letter of intent to the AP minister to set up 650 megawatt capacity solar and wind power units in Anantapur district.

Smart grid project: Fuji Electric identifies site in Vijayawada
On the Day Two of his investment-seeking visit to Japan, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu made his pitch to three major companies and managed to win the commitment of one of them, and the interest of two others.
Electrical equipment manufacturer Fuji Electric has identified a site in Vijayawada for a proposed smart grid project. This will, however, only be a pilot project, the main one being planned in Amaravati, the upcoming capital. However, it is Mitsubhishi Corporation’s keen interest in investing in the proposed Chennai-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor and the Krishnapatnam industrial node that has most enthused the visiting delegation. Industries secretary S.S. Rawat, who is in the CM’s delegation, suggested to the Mitsubhishi that it could set up a cluster near Krishnapatnam, bringing all its subsidiaries to one place.
Mitsubhishi has already committed to setting up a Japan Information and Study Centre at the Andhra University as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities to promote Japanese language and culture. The Japanese major also expressed interest in celebrating M.S. Swaminathan’s 90{+t}{+h}birthday, in collaboration with the State government and the Chief Minister proposed that Amaravati be the venue.
Mitsubishi senior VP Yasuhiko Kitagawa told the delegation that the company would undertake a five-year rural development programme in Krishna district from this year in collaboration with the MSS Foundation. Mr. Naidu asked Mitsubhishi to invest in the State’s food processing sector and assured the company that problems relating to infrastructure and clearances would be immediately addressed. Another company Mr Naidu pitched to, Mayekawa Mfg. Co Ltd, evinced interest in the fisheries sector.

Pushing for a closer collaboration with Japanese companies in areas of technology and investments, the Andhra Pradesh government has signed memoranda of understanding (MoU) with Japanese IT and networking solutions provider NEC and Mizuho Bank Limited in a latest round of bilateral meetings in Japan.
These agreements come on the back of the ongoing tour of AP chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who is visiting Japan for a second time in less than three months.
An MoU signed between NEC India Private Limited, a subsidiary of diversified business conglomerate NEC, with Andhra Pradesh Technology Services Limited (APTS) aims to build a safe city project for the temple town of Tirupati by creating future-proof solution architecture to establish a common platform for integration of all technology components into the central city operations centre.
The company also involves in developing a city surveillance system with surveillance cameras, facial recognition solution and behaviour detection, a domain of video analytics, and develops smart transport management system with automated number plate recognition, automatic vehicle tracking and automatic fare collection.
NEC proposes to collaborate with the state government in evolving a smart policing mechanism through an automated fingerprint identification system, facial recognition-based forensic and dial 100 platform, according to the officials.
The MoU speaks of establishing a centre of excellence for the safe city project, which is supposed to undertake R&D, capacity building and consultancy on technological aspects relating to these areas besides setting up an NEC development centre in the state.
The second MoU is between Sunrise AP, state’s nodal agency for investment promotion, and Mizuho Bank Limited.
Mizuho, a global financial institution having business relationship with 70 per cent of listed Japanese companies, intends to facilitate and support resource and investment activities in both the countries and promote Japanese investments in India by leveraging its vast customer base, the government said.
According to the MoU, the AP nodal agency will facilitate Mizuho’s client companies investing in AP and doing business with Indian companies by introducing local partners as well as by assisting them in implementing the projects in Andhra Pradesh.
It may be recalled that the AP government had already signed a number of agreements with some of the top Japanese companies, including Sumitomo Corporation, which has been entrusted to build a super-critical thermal power project in the north coastal district of Srikakulam.
SoftBank chairman and Japanese billionaire Masayoshi Son, who met the chief minister in Hyderabad soon after announcing a joint venture to fund projects in the Indian renewable energy sector in Delhi last month, would also be playing an important role in bringing investments to the state, the officials said.
Naidu is also expected to use his present visit to invite Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to the foundation laying event of the new capital city on October 22 along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, according to the officials.

Andhra Pradesh, July 6: Mitsubishi Corporation will set up a Japan information and Study Center at Andhra University to promote their local language Japanese and to introduce Japanese culture to locals.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is in a three-day visit of Japanese county. On the first day of tour CM met honchos of several Japanese companies and discussed regarding several investment schemes with them.
Yoshio Okuno, representative director of Fuji Electric has informed that, the company has identified a site in Vijayawada to set up a smart grid project, in a meeting with Naidu representatives of company has presented a report regarding weather condition, wind direction at site and the connection between weather and power demand in state.
Later senior-vice president Yasuhiko Kitagawa came forward with a deal under the corporate social responsibility (CSR). As part of CSR programme, Mitsubishi Corporation has decided to set up Japan information Study Centre at AU to promote their local languages and to introduce their culture to AP locals.
Naidu welcomed Mitsubishi Corporation to set up their information study center at Krishnapatnam he also discussed with Yoshiro Tanaka, chairman of Mayekawa Mfg, who are interested to explore fisheries sector. Tanaka informed Naidu that, a technical team of their company will visit the Godavari district in this year August to study about processing of fisheries sectors in the state.
Naidu is also discussed with Yokohama port president Masayuki Takashima to prepare a master plan for partnership between Yokohama port and AP ports such as Kakinada, Krishnapatnam and Vizag.

Mizuho Bank to promote Japanese investments in A.P.
The State Government has secured a firm commitment from Japan’s Mizuho Bank, a leading global financial institution, for promoting Japanese investments in India, particularly Andhra Pradesh, by leveraging its vast customer base. Mizuho Bank and Sunrise AP, a State-run agency created to facilitate investments in AP, signed a memorandum of understanding on this initiative on Tuesday.
“Mizuho realised that joint cooperation with Sunrise AP will further accelerate Japanese companies’ efforts to promote economic expansion in India, particularly in Andhra Pradesh,” says the MoU signed in the presence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in Japan.
The two agencies will leverage each other’s strengths in order to reach out to companies in Japan interested in business opportunities in Andhra Pradesh. They would collaborate in organising dialogue sessions with Japanese companies, including small and medium-sized enterprises in India and Japan.
The Sunrise AP will facilitate the Mizuho’s client companies that propose to invest in AP by introducing local partners as well as assisting in the implementation of projects. It would also facilitate Mizuho in coordinating with State Government departments for information requirements that are in the public domain and not classified as confidential.
The two firms will organise seminars, dialogue sessions and workshops for attracting Japanese investments in the State.
The Chief Minister invited Mizuho Bank’s managing executive officer Tatsufumi Sakai to set up the company’s India headquarters in Amaravati and a back office in Andhra Pradesh. “We are planning to make our capital a financial hub,” Mr. Naidu said.

Off to Japan from July 6-8 to attract investments to AP
I will be flying to Japan tonight for three days in order to sign a few MoUs and finalize investments of Japanese firms in our Andhra Pradesh.
This will be my second visit to Japan. As part of this visit, I will have a slew of meetings with executives from Fuji Electric, Mitsubishi Corporation, Mayekawa Manufacturing, Sumitomo Corporation and others.
I will also be meeting with JICA, JBIC, METI, NEDO, MLIT, Bank of Tokyo, Mizuho Bank, Yokohama Port representatives and my dear friend, Masayoshi Son, CEO and Founder of Softbank.
I'm also planning to meet Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and invite him for the foundation stone-laying ceremony of our capital, Amaravati.
This trip, I'm sure, will bring in several investments (resulting in jobs for locals) from Japanese investors from the Land of Rising Sun to the Sunrise State of Andhra Pradesh.

Japan Visit - Day 1 Report
In my second visit to Japan in order to strengthen Andhra Pradesh’s position on the global investment map, we have finalized a slew of investment proposals from Japanese companies/investors in our state.
I started my day by meeting representatives of Fuji Electric. During my earlier visit, Fuji Electric said it would conduct a feasibility report for a smart grid project.
Today's meeting was a follow-up of the team's field studies. Fuji electric has identified a site in Vijayawada for the smart grid project. The project in Vijayawada will be taken up on pilot basis. However, the main project will be concentrated in the state capital.
In order to make Andhra Pradesh’s smart grid project the best in the country, Fuji Electric representatives presented a research report after analyzing weather, wind direction and correlation between weather and power demand.
They suggested two models of developing a smart grid project. The first is to develop a model smart grid project for the state and the second being, partnership of AP with Fuji Electric where they can together offer consultancy services to other states in the country.
In my second meeting with Mitsubishi Corporation, Mr. Yasuhiko Kitagawa, the president of the company, came forward to partner with Andhra Pradesh under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
I'm extremely happy that they are setting up Japan Information and Study Centre at Andhra University. This Centre, under CSR, will promote Japanese language courses and introduce locals to the Japanese culture.

]Meanwhile, Mayekawa said that that a technical team will visit the Godavari districts during August to study fish processing units in the state.
Mayekawa also suggested that Andhra Pradesh have a dedicated Japan desk in the country. He told me that this will generate an interest among Japanese investors. I'm positive about this idea.
I also had meeting with representatives from Yokohama Port. They will prepare an action plan for AP’s ports. Another meeting with Sumitomo was on Bhavanapadu port and a 1,000MW power project.
Later, I had meetings with JICA and JBIC heads. They told me they will consider the Capital consultancy bid and participate in power project financing of Chennai Bangalore Industrial Corridor. We also discussed on Metro Rail and Power Projects.
On the whole, it was a hectic day with back-to-back meetings and a few collaborations between AP and Japanese companies. We will also sign MoUs in the coming days.
I'm happy to notice that Japanese investors have a positive sentiment towards Andhra Pradesh and India. This means we can attract good number of investments.

Japan visit – Day 2 & Day 3 report
On Day 2 and day 3 of my Japan visit, we have signed two MoUs. One was with Mizuho Bank and the other one with NEC.
During my interaction with Mr. Tatsufumi Sakai, Managing Executive Officer, of Mizuho Bank, I invited them to set up their Indian headquarters in Amaravati.
Mizuho Bank is the second largest bank in Japan and has one of the largest client bases. Mr. Sakai told me he will encourage their clients to explore investment opportunities in Andhra Pradesh.
Another meeting was with my friend Masayoshi Son, founder and CEO of SoftBank. I'm glad to state that SoftBank has come forward to set up 20GW solar power plant in AP under the ‘Make in India’ initiative.
During our conversations, Mr. Son has always told me that he is interested in investing in Renewable Energy. This is his way of giving back to the society. He is also interested to offer scholarships to students who specialise in solar power engineering in our state.
In a bilateral meeting with His Excellency Mr. Yoichi Miyazawa, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan (METI), I was told that METI is interested in equity participation in capital development and management. METI has also offered financial assistance for our metro rail project.
Today, we have signed an MoU with NEC. They will assist us in Safe-City project and also in cyber security, road transport systems and broadband connectivity.
NEC will also establish a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Safe City which shall undertake R&D, Capacity Building and Consultancy on Technological Aspects relating to establishing safe cities in India.
I have also met JGC Corporation representatives who have shown interest in setting up a refinery and cracker unit in our state.
During my meeting with Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC), they told me that Japan Research Institute (JRI) is ready to conduct feasibility study on eco-city and transportation systems in AP.
I have also had the opportunity to meet with Mr. Shinji Aoyama, COO of Motorcycle operations, Honda Motor Co. I have invited them to set up a plant in Andhra Pradesh, explaining the potential for the state to become a automobile manufacturing hub.
Six months after my first visit to Japan, I'm witnessing a positive sentiment from Japanese investors and companies about investing in our Sunrise Andhra Pradesh. I'm sure that these meetings will transform into investments and jobs for people.
I will strive hard until we reach our goal of making Sunrise Andhra Pradesh the best investment destination in the country.

HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who had christened the new capital city of the State after ancient Buddhist town Amaravati with an intention to woo investors from Buddhist countries, will be making an all-out attempt from Monday to persuade Japanese business giants to invest in the reorganised State.
Naidu, who reached Tokyo on Sunday, will be spending next two days there by holding a series of meetings with the representatives of various Japanese companies in order to attract investments to the State, besides entering into MoUs with some of them to help the State government in realising its dream of constructing a gigantic capital for AP, which will outdo Hyderabad city on all fronts.
The Chief Minister is also expected to meet Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to invite him to take part in the foundation stone laying ceremony of new capital city, scheduled to take place on October 22.
According to sources, Naidu already took the clearance from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to extend invitation to the Japanese Premier for the grand function, which will be graced by Modi himself.
On Monday, Naidu will be meeting representatives of Fuji Electric Co., Ltd, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, Mayekawa, Sumitomo Corporation, Mizuho Bank, Ltd, which is the integrated retail and corporate banking unit of Mizuho Financial Group.
On Tuesday, he is expected to hold confabulations with the top brass of SoftBank Group Corporation, which is a Japanese multinational telecommunications and Internet corporation, and Mizuho Financial Group, which is one of the prominent financial institutions in the world.
Sources said, during the tour, Naidu will clinch several key deals with the Japanese companies in order to set up their branches in AP.
“Mizuho Financial Group is likely to enter into an agreement with the AP government to provide its services to the State to transform it into an industrial hub,” an official said.
Tokyo-based NEC Corporation, a multinational provider of information technology services and products, is expected to make an agreement with the AP Technology Services Limited (APTS) to provide IT solutions to the State government’s efforts to develop smart cities in the State.
Naidu is also expected to call on Japanese Finance Minister in order to seek loans from the Japanese financial institutions for construction of the new capital city.
In fact, seeking to promote Japanese investments in AP, Chief Minister Naidu during his earlier visit to Japan promised the investors in that country that his government would set up dedicated industrial townships and clusters for Japanese in AP. He also told them that Japanese schools woul be set up in the State.
“Make AP as a destiny for Japanese investments, build another Tokyo in new capital region of AP there you have so many opportunities. I want to do business most efficiently and for that I am assuring you ease of doing business through speedier clearances, infrastructure and good governance,” Naidu told a Japanese delegation during its recent tour to Hyderabad.
Besides a battery of top officials from the State government, Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana are accompanying Naidu during his visit.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday met Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in Tokyo and invited him to the foundation stone laying ceremony of state's new capital Amaravati. Naidu said Prime Minister Narendra Modi would also write to Abe inviting him for the ceremony to be held in October this year.
Abe assured Naidu that Japan will extend all technical and possible financial assistance to for infrastructure development and building of capital, said an official statement here. The chief minister also made a request for making some institutionalised arrangement for AP-Japan relationship, to which Abe agreed.
On the second day of his visit, Naidu also met with Akihiro Ohta of the ministry of land, infrastructure, transport and tourism (MLIT). Ohta said since Andhra Pradesh is constructing a new capital, MLIT is keen to extend cooperation in roads and buildings and infrastructure. Naidu sought MLIT's cooperation in building AP's ports, airports and roads.
Naidu also called on Tatsufumi Sakai, managing executive officer and head of international banking unit at Mizuho Bank, the second largest bank in Japan. HYDERABAD: Japan has expressed interest in picking up equity stake in the development and management of Andhra Pradesh's greenfield capital city project. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has assured technical and financial assistance to the state for building infrastructure and the capital city.
The development comes within weeks of the Singapore government offering to prepare a detailed master plan for the capital city at Amaravati, between Vijayawada and Guntur.
Andhra Pradesh is building its capital city on a public-private partnership (PPP) model. It has procured over 33,000 acres from farmers under a land pooling model, offering stake in the developed infrastructure to the landowners, a first in India.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Chief Minister's Office said Japan's ministry of economy, trade and industry (Meti) has evinced interest in equity participation while interacting with the visiting Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
Andhra Pradesh's planning board vice-chairman, Cherukuri Kutumba Rao, said, "We were initially sceptical but finally succeeded in bringing on to the table two countries — Singapore and Japan. We were not sure if Japanese funding agencies would extend support to the capital city project since the master plan was prepared by another country — Singapore."
According to Rao, Andhra Pradesh needs an estimated $50 billion investment over the next 15 years for a new capital city.
Yoichi Miyazawa, Japanese minister of Meti, told Naidu in Tokyo on Tuesday that several Japanese companies were ready to be partners in AP's capital construction.
While Meti has offered financial assistance to the proposed metro rail project in AP's capital region, SoftBank has agreed to set up a 20GW of solar power plant and solar panel manufacturing facility in the state.
On Monday, Japan International Cooperation Agency's senior vice-president Domichi Hidaeki said the agency was keen to participate in the capital consultancy bid and also finance power projects coming up in the Chennai-Bangalore industrial corridor and Krishnapatnam industrial park.
Hidaeki said a good part of the $35 billion worth of investments that Japan had committed to India during the summit meeting between India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe could go into Andhra.
Mizuho Bank, Japan's second largest lender, signed a memorandum of understanding with the state government and assured it would encourage its clients to explore investment opportunities in the state.

Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is on a four-day visit to Japan to finalise investment proposals of Japanese companies and investors made during his earlier visit in November last.
The visiting delegation was told that the Yokohama Port of Japan, which is inclined at collaborating with the ports in Andhra Pradesh, would shortly prepare a master plan on the collaboration.
Naidu met representatives of Sumitomo Corporation, which had signed a MoU with AP for a power project last November. The feasibility study has been completed. “The next stage is to do fast track the 1,000 mw at Polaki in Srikakulam district,” Naidu said.
The AP government has decided to constitute a committee with two representatives each from Sumitomo and government of Andhra Pradesh to pursue and finalise the financing of the project.
Sumitomo also offered to help AP in increasing agricultural yields and would begin research and experimental work this month. Sumitomo’s infrastructure division evinced interest in sewerage treatment, water management, traffic signals and traffic plan, a statement from the chief minister’s office, said.
Naidu also held a meeting with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on the capital city, metro rail and power project. Accordingly, Domichi Hidaeki, senior vice-president of JICA, told the visiting delegation that it would consider participation in capital consultancy bid and also in power project financing of the Chennai-Bangalore Industrial Corridor (CBIC) and Krishnapatnam Industrial Park.
He also met executive managing director of Japan Bank of International Cooperation (JBIC) Koichi Yajima. JBIC said investor sentiment was rising in favour of India, as per its annual survey of investor sentiment.
SoftBank was preparing to invest in slow power in Andhra Pradesh and had sought the JBIC’s support. Sumitomo too was exploring cooperation from JBIC for the Srikakulam power project. Fuji Electric submitted a feasibility report on smart grid project, the pilot of which will be taken up at Vijayawada, according to the statement.

On the third day of his visit to Japan, Mr. Naidu along with other members of A.P. delegation, undertook a train ride in Tokyo city and also visited the venue where the 2020 Olympic Games are scheduled to be held.
During his meeting with Shinji Aoyama, COO of Motorcyle Operations, Honda Motor Co, Mr. Naidu explained about the opportunities available for automobile manufacturing in the State and said that the auto companies could use the State as a manufacturing hub and export to Asia-Pacific region.
He said that the automobile and auto components policy unveiled by the State would allow ancillary units to function from the State and support the mother unit.
He also mentioned that Chennai-Bangalore and Vizag-Chennai Industrial Corridor would boost the investment potential in the State.
Mr. Naidu also met executives of JGC Corporation which operates in petroleum, power, water, new energy and industrial parks sectors. Japanese company Komamura keen to set up facility in India
HYDERABAD, JULY 9:
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on the last leg of his four day tour of Japan met with Komamura Corporation, which is stated to have expressed its interest to make lenses and cameras in India.
During a meeting with Naidu, Toshiyuki Komamura, President of the company, said, “We will explore the possibilities of setting up in Andhra Pradesh and export our equipment to other parts of the world.”
According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office, the company operates in the optics space and manufactures view/technical cameras, Pro-digital photo equipment, Pro-broadcasting equipment that are useful in rescue operations during disasters on land and sea at night time.
The Chief Minister invited the company to visit Andhra Pradesh and explore the facilities.
The Naidu’s delegation, which completed its four-day tour of Japan, is expected to arrive in New Delhi at 5.30 pm later today.
He is expected to meet Union Ministers in the national capital on Friday.

Japan's JGC keen on setting up refinery & cracker unit in Andhra Pradesh
HYDERABAD: Japan's diversified conglomerate JGC Corporation with interests in petroleum, power, water, new energy and industrial parks, has evinced interest to set up a refinery and cracker unit in Andhra Pradesh.
Interacting with the visiting AP chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday, JGC Corporation's chairman Masayuki Soto also expressed interest to partner with the South Indian state in food processing sector.
In another interaction, National Electronics Corporation ( NEC) of Japan has agreed to offer AP various services in the areas of safe city development at Tirupati. The Japanese elections giant agreed to offer AP the services in city surveillance system, smart transport management, smart policing, apart from setting up centre of excellence to undertake R&D, consultancy and capacity building on establishing safe cities in India.
Though Naidu has urged the Japanese automobile giant Honda Motorcycle to set up its manufacturing facility in AP, the two-wheeler producer did not offer any assurance but agreed to explore the opportunity. Its former Indian partner Hero MotoCorp has recently entered into an agreement with AP to set up its largest two-wheeler manufacturing facility near Chittoor on the Southern part of the state.
Japan Research Institute (JRI), a subsidiary of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) agreed to conduct feasibility study on an eco-city and transportation systems in AP. Toshiba has agreed to provide assistance to the Indian state in optimising power management.

Smart grid project: Fuji Electric identifies site in Vijayawada
On the Day Two of his investment-seeking visit to Japan, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu made his pitch to three major companies and managed to win the commitment of one of them, and the interest of two others.
Electrical equipment manufacturer Fuji Electric has identified a site in Vijayawada for a proposed smart grid project. This will, however, only be a pilot project, the main one being planned in Amaravati, the upcoming capital. However, it is Mitsubhishi Corporation’s keen interest in investing in the proposed Chennai-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor and the Krishnapatnam industrial node that has most enthused the visiting delegation. Industries secretary S.S. Rawat, who is in the CM’s delegation, suggested to the Mitsubhishi that it could set up a cluster near Krishnapatnam, bringing all its subsidiaries to one place.
Mitsubhishi has already committed to setting up a Japan Information and Study Centre at the Andhra University as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities to promote Japanese language and culture. The Japanese major also expressed interest in celebrating M.S. Swaminathan’s 90{+t}{+h}birthday, in collaboration with the State government and the Chief Minister proposed that Amaravati be the venue.
Mitsubishi senior VP Yasuhiko Kitagawa told the delegation that the company would undertake a five-year rural development programme in Krishna district from this year in collaboration with the MSS Foundation. Mr. Naidu asked Mitsubhishi to invest in the State’s food processing sector and assured the company that problems relating to infrastructure and clearances would be immediately addressed. Another company Mr Naidu pitched to, Mayekawa Mfg. Co Ltd, evinced interest in the fisheries sector.

Pushing for a closer collaboration with Japanese companies in areas of technology and investments, the Andhra Pradesh government has signed memoranda of understanding (MoU) with Japanese IT and networking solutions provider NEC and Mizuho Bank Limited in a latest round of bilateral meetings in Japan.
These agreements come on the back of the ongoing tour of AP chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who is visiting Japan for a second time in less than three months.
An MoU signed between NEC India Private Limited, a subsidiary of diversified business conglomerate NEC, with Andhra Pradesh Technology Services Limited (APTS) aims to build a safe city project for the temple town of Tirupati by creating future-proof solution architecture to establish a common platform for integration of all technology components into the central city operations centre.
The company also involves in developing a city surveillance system with surveillance cameras, facial recognition solution and behaviour detection, a domain of video analytics, and develops smart transport management system with automated number plate recognition, automatic vehicle tracking and automatic fare collection.
NEC proposes to collaborate with the state government in evolving a smart policing mechanism through an automated fingerprint identification system, facial recognition-based forensic and dial 100 platform, according to the officials.
The MoU speaks of establishing a centre of excellence for the safe city project, which is supposed to undertake R&D, capacity building and consultancy on technological aspects relating to these areas besides setting up an NEC development centre in the state.
The second MoU is between Sunrise AP, state’s nodal agency for investment promotion, and Mizuho Bank Limited.
Mizuho, a global financial institution having business relationship with 70 per cent of listed Japanese companies, intends to facilitate and support resource and investment activities in both the countries and promote Japanese investments in India by leveraging its vast customer base, the government said.
According to the MoU, the AP nodal agency will facilitate Mizuho’s client companies investing in AP and doing business with Indian companies by introducing local partners as well as by assisting them in implementing the projects in Andhra Pradesh.
It may be recalled that the AP government had already signed a number of agreements with some of the top Japanese companies, including Sumitomo Corporation, which has been entrusted to build a super-critical thermal power project in the north coastal district of Srikakulam.
SoftBank chairman and Japanese billionaire Masayoshi Son, who met the chief minister in Hyderabad soon after announcing a joint venture to fund projects in the Indian renewable energy sector in Delhi last month, would also be playing an important role in bringing investments to the state, the officials said.
Naidu is also expected to use his present visit to invite Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to the foundation laying event of the new capital city on October 22 along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, according to the officials.

Mitsubishi to set up Japanese IT Study Centre at AU
Andhra Pradesh, July 6: Mitsubishi Corporation will set up a Japan information and Study Center at Andhra University to promote their local language Japanese and to introduce Japanese culture to locals.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is in a three-day visit of Japanese county. On the first day of tour CM met honchos of several Japanese companies and discussed regarding several investment schemes with them.
Yoshio Okuno, representative director of Fuji Electric has informed that, the company has identified a site in Vijayawada to set up a smart grid project, in a meeting with Naidu representatives of company has presented a report regarding weather condition, wind direction at site and the connection between weather and power demand in state.
Later senior-vice president Yasuhiko Kitagawa came forward with a deal under the corporate social responsibility (CSR). As part of CSR programme, Mitsubishi Corporation has decided to set up Japan information Study Centre at AU to promote their local languages and to introduce their culture to AP locals.
Naidu welcomed Mitsubishi Corporation to set up their information study center at Krishnapatnam he also discussed with Yoshiro Tanaka, chairman of Mayekawa Mfg, who are interested to explore fisheries sector. Tanaka informed Naidu that, a technical team of their company will visit the Godavari district in this year August to study about processing of fisheries sectors in the state.
Naidu is also discussed with Yokohama port president Masayuki Takashima to prepare a master plan for partnership between Yokohama port and AP ports such as Kakinada, Krishnapatnam and Vizag.

Mizuho Bank to promote Japanese investments in A.P.
The State Government has secured a firm commitment from Japan’s Mizuho Bank, a leading global financial institution, for promoting Japanese investments in India, particularly Andhra Pradesh, by leveraging its vast customer base. Mizuho Bank and Sunrise AP, a State-run agency created to facilitate investments in AP, signed a memorandum of understanding on this initiative on Tuesday.
“Mizuho realised that joint cooperation with Sunrise AP will further accelerate Japanese companies’ efforts to promote economic expansion in India, particularly in Andhra Pradesh,” says the MoU signed in the presence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in Japan.
The two agencies will leverage each other’s strengths in order to reach out to companies in Japan interested in business opportunities in Andhra Pradesh. They would collaborate in organising dialogue sessions with Japanese companies, including small and medium-sized enterprises in India and Japan.
The Sunrise AP will facilitate the Mizuho’s client companies that propose to invest in AP by introducing local partners as well as assisting in the implementation of projects. It would also facilitate Mizuho in coordinating with State Government departments for information requirements that are in the public domain and not classified as confidential.
The two firms will organise seminars, dialogue sessions and workshops for attracting Japanese investments in the State.
The Chief Minister invited Mizuho Bank’s managing executive officer Tatsufumi Sakai to set up the company’s India headquarters in Amaravati and a back office in Andhra Pradesh. “We are planning to make our capital a financial hub,” Mr. Naidu said.

there was a news in eanadu abt a japanese company signing an mou to open a refinery in A.P... A.P surely has good days coming... looks like partition has indeed helped people of A.P .. not sure of you guys but at least chittor district of rayalaseema has seen quite a good projects coming its way...
