This MV Suez incident is now becoming a comedy of errors!

According to CNN IBN as of 8 PM IST, India has lodged a strong protest with Pakistan that PNS Babar conducted dangerous maneuvers posing a threat to Indian Navy personnel during the rescue operation of MV Suez. It further states that Pakistan’s protest to India is based on misinformation and that the allegations are baseless. The Pak Naval advisor in Delhi has been summoned.

The point is why did the Indian MEA order the INS Godavari to the area knowing full well that PNS Babar is already in location and escorting the MV Suez? What kind of a hare brained idea was this? I think our bozos in the Ministry of External Affairs need to get their heads examined! Did they not know that Indo-Pak relations being what they are, it would be foolish to send a warship there when a Pakistani naval ship was already accompanying MV Suez?

Well, it seems that brain cells are in short supply in the MEA. This is not the first time they’ve goofed up! It’s time to sweep the house from the deadwood! :hitwall:

.
I guess the MEA wanted others to feel the presence of Indian Navy, that they are also there...

Such questions arise in the minds where some sense prevails, others just keep their eyes on the processed media statements.
Why someone will order a naval ship to enter such state of affairs that can very much lead to a mishap out of no where.
It was something that i wasn't expecting from the blue water navy.
They could have conveyed the message to PN headquarters,it might have avoided all this. But they preferred to act in Bollywood style.

I thought the IN was not in the sector according to initial reports. That was why they weren't able to help the Suez. What is going on?

:rofl: what rescue operation ? the rescue operation was already completed by Pakistan NAVY so here comes the bharati aka Indian navy came to hit PNS Babur for the good gesture we showed to you Indians by saving your sailors.

shame on you Indian navy you came up with such a blatant lie.

Pakistani News Channel Express has got images of your brushing with PNS .

go figure and stop cheap tactics

Dear Indians what dangerous manvour PNS Babur could have posed to Indian Naval ship when PNS was just escorting the MV Suez for safety.

This second statement by Indian navy is more damaging than earlier one for your own Indian Navy as it is really exposing them so badly.

please atleast spare humanity and carry on your hatred on some other occasion .

This statement also proved that Pakistani complaint was right

:) yes but was that needed now? when there was nothing left for IN to steal the show. so it would have been better not to commit such a blunder that was bouncing back on its face and ruining good spirit among the people

PTI In this June 16, 2011 photo MV Suez is seen heading towards Salalah in Oman under the surveillance of INS Godavari.

A Pakistani humanitarian effort that secured the release of Indians along with Pakistanis from Somali pirates is fast turning into a war of words between the two governments with both accusing each other’s Navy of aggression in the high seas while escorting MV Suez which was released earlier this week after 10 months in captivity.

A day after Pakistan officially protested the “aggression” by INS Godavari towards PNS Babur, India on Saturday lodged a similar protest with the Pakistan High Commission about its naval vessel. “PNS Babur by its risky manoeuvres jeopardised the safety of INS Godavari and its crew.’’

Pakistan had accused the Indian vessel of hampering humanitarian operations being carried out by PNS Babur for MV Suez and making “dangerous manoeuvres’’ which resulted in the two ships “brushing’’ past each other.

According to the External Affairs Ministry spokesman Vishnu Prakash, Pakistan’s Naval Advisor in New Delhi had been summoned by the Defence Ministry on Saturday to register the “serious concerns at PNS Babur’s risky manoeuvres’’. In Islamabad, Pakistan conveyed a similar protest about INS Godavari around 6.30 p.m. through Deputy High Commissioner Rahul Kulsreshtha and informed the media later in the night.

Both countries cited violation of relevant regulations on navigational safety contained in the “International Regulations for Prevention of Collisions at Sea” and Article 10 of the “Agreement between India-Pakistan on Advance Notice on Military Exercises, Manoeuvres and Troops Movements 1991”.

Earlier in the day, the Indian Navy described reports of aggression by INS Godavari as incorrect and based on misinformation. This incident is said to have happened in the Gulf of Aden on Thursday while MV Suez was being escorted towards Oman. Indian Navy officials claim they have photographs and records to prove their position.

On Thursday, the Indian Navy had put out a statement claiming that it had been tasked to escort MV Suez that very morning. “On reaching MV Suez, INS Godavari made every effort through all available means and channels to communicate with Suez. However the Master of MV Suez did not respond.’’ After confirming that MV Suez was safe and was being escorted by other warships deployed in the Gulf of Aden, INS Godavari returned to its task of two other merchant vessels carrying 21 Indians.

As for the complaint of Indians aboard MV Suez that India had done nothing for them since the ship as taken over by Somali pirates in August 2010, Mr. Prakash said such insinuations by a few voices stem from lack of appreciation of facts and are totally baseless. “Concerned Indian entities have been coordinating with their interlocutors overseas which has led to the safe release of the sailors and the ship,’’ he said.

The merchant vessel with 23 sailors from Egypt, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka on board was released this past Monday on payment of $ 2.1 million. The Pakistani human rights activist Ansar Burney’s organisation coughed up $1.1 million towards the whole amount to secure the release of all the South Asians on board as the ransom amount for the Egyptian captives was paid by the owners of the vessel.

The Hindu : News / National : India, Pakistan trade charges

I hope Indian authorities publish those photos and records to prove their stance. :)
