The terrorist blast in Mumbai on July 13, 2011, requires decisive soul-searching by the Hindus of India. Hindus cannot accept to be killed in this halal fashion, continuously bleeding every day till the nation finally collapses. Terrorism I define here as the illegal use of force to overawe the civilian population to make it do or not do an act against its will and well-being.

Islamic terrorism is India’s number one problem of national security. About this there will be no doubt after 2012. By that year, I expect a Taliban takeover in Pakistan and the Americans to flee Afghanistan. Then, Islam will confront Hinduism to “complete unfinished business”. Already the successor to Osama bin Laden as al-Qaeda leader has declared that India is the priority target for that terrorist organisation and not the USA.

Fanatic Muslims consider Hindu-dominated India “an unfinished chapter of Islamic conquests”. All other countries conquered by Islam 100% converted to Islam within two decades of the Islamic invasion. Undivided India in 1947 was 75% Hindu even after 800 years of brutal Islamic rule. That is jarring for the fanatics.

In one sense, I do not blame the Muslim fanatics for targeting Hindus. I blame Hindus who have taken their individuality permitted in Sanatan Dharma to the extreme. Millions of Hindus can assemble without state patronage for the Kumbh Mela, completely self-organised, but they all leave for home oblivious of the targeting of Hindus in Kashmir, Mau, Melvisharam and Malappuram and do not lift their little finger to help organise Hindus. If half the Hindus voted together, rising above caste and language, a genuine Hindu party would have a two-thirds majority in Parliament and the assemblies.

The first lesson to be learnt from the recent history of Islamic terrorism against India and for tackling terrorism in India is that the Hindu is the target and that Muslims of India are being programmed by a slow reactive process to become radical and thus slide into suicide against Hindus. It is to undermine the Hindu psyche and create the fear of civil war that terror attacks are organised.

Hindus must collectively respond as Hindus against the terrorist and not feel individually isolated or, worse, be complacent because he or she is not personally affected. If one Hindu dies merely because he or she was a Hindu, then a bit of every Hindu also dies. This is an essential mental attitude, a necessary part of a virat (committed) Hindu.

We need a collective mindset as Hindus to stand against the Islamic terrorist. The Muslims of India can join us if they genuinely feel for the Hindu. That they do I will not believe unless they acknowledge with pride that though they may be Muslims, their ancestors were Hindus. If any Muslim acknowledges his or her Hindu legacy, then we Hindus can accept him or her as a part of the Brihad Hindu Samaj (greater Hindu society) which is Hindustan. India that is Bharat that is Hindustan is a nation of Hindus and others whose ancestors were Hindus. Others, who refuse to acknowledge this, or those foreigners who become Indian citizens by registration, can remain in India but should not have voting rights (which means they cannot be elected representatives).

Any policy to combat terrorism must begin with requiring each and every Hindu becoming a virat Hindu. For this, one must have a Hindu mindset that recognises that there is vyaktigat charitra (personal character) and rashtriya charitra (national character). For example, Manmohan Singh has high personal character, but by being a rubber stamp of a semi-literate Sonia Gandhi and waffling on all national issues, he has proved that he has no rashtriya charitra.

The second lesson for combating terrorism is that we must never capitulate or concede any demand, as we did in 1989 (freeing five terrorists in exchange for Mufti Mohammed Sayeed’s daughter Rubaiya) and in 1999, freeing three terrorists after the hijack of Indian Airlines flight IC-814.

The third lesson is that whatever and however small the terrorist incident, the nation must retaliate massively. For example, when the Ayodhya temple was sought to be attacked, we should have retaliated by re-building the Ram temple at the site.

According to bleeding heart liberals, terrorists are born or bred because of illiteracy, poverty, oppression, and discrimination. They argue that instead of eliminating them, the root cause of these four disabilities in society should be removed. This is rubbish. Osama bin laden was a billionaire. In the failed Times Square episode, failed terrorist Shahzad was from a highly placed family in Pakistan and had an MBA from a reputed US university.

It is also a ridiculous idea that terrorists cannot be deterred because they are irrational and willing to die. Terrorist masterminds have political goals and a method in their madness. An effective strategy to deter terrorism is to defeat those political goals and to rubbish them by counter-terrorist action. Thus, I advocate the following strategy to negate the political goals of Islamic terrorism in India.

Goal 1: Overawe India on Kashmir.
Strategy: Remove Article 370 and resettle ex-servicemen in the valley. Create Panun Kashmir for the Hindu Pandit community. Look for or create an opportunity to take over ***. If Pakistan continues to back terrorists, assist the Baluchis and Sindhis to get their independence.

Goal 2: Blast temples, kill Hindu devotees.
Strategy: Remove the masjid in Kashi Vishwanath temple and the 300 masjids at other temple sites.

Goal 3: Turn India into Darul Islam.
Strategy: Implement the uniform civil code, make learning of Sanskrit and singing of Vande Mataram mandatory, and declare India a Hindu Rashtra in which non-Hindus can vote only if they proudly acknowledge that their ancestors were Hindus. Rename India Hindustan as a nation of Hindus and those whose ancestors were Hindus.

Goal 4: Change India’s demography by illegal immigration, conversion, and refusal to adopt family planning.
Strategy: Enact a national law prohibiting conversion from Hinduism to any other religion. Re-conversion will not be banned. Declare that caste is not based on birth but on code or discipline. Welcome non-Hindus to re-convert to the caste of their choice provided they adhere to the code of discipline. Annex land from Bangladesh in proportion to the illegal migrants from that country staying in India. At present, the northern third from Sylhet to Khulna can be annexed to re-settle illegal migrants.

Goal 5: Denigrate Hinduism through vulgar writings and preaching in mosques, madrassas, and churches to create loss of self-respect amongst Hindus and make them fit for capitulation.
Strategy: Propagate the development of a Hindu mindset.

India can solve its terrorist problem within five years by such a deterrent strategy, but for that we have to learn the four lessons outlined above, and have a Hindu mindset to take bold, risky, and hard decisions to defend the nation. If the Jews could be transformed from lambs walking meekly to the gas chambers to fiery lions in just 10 years, it should not be difficult for Hindus in much better circumstances (after all we are 83% of India), to do so in five years.

Guru Gobind Singh showed us how just five fearless persons under spiritual guidance can transform a society. Even if half the Hindu voters are persuaded to collectively vote as Hindus, and for a party sincerely committed to a Hindu agenda, then we can forge an instrument for change. And that is the bottom line in the strategy to deter terrorism in a democratic Hindustan at this moment of truth.

The writer is president of the Janata Party, a former Union minister, and a professor of economics.

I find it ridiculous that a former Union minister of India can be so closet minded and is calling for a state along the lines of Israel.

I would want the Indians' opinion on this above article and I wonder how many of them think along the same bigoted lines too?

This is the father of all nonsense articles that have ever been posted on this forum. When did the Al-Qaeda leader said that india is the target??

I have been observing that india is trying very hard to somehow get involved in this WOT and get praises from the World. But they don't know the consequences yet. .

.
personal views of some idiot do not present true picture of indians. majority of hindus don't think like that & also majority of muslims have not such thinking as mentioned in article.

I did a google search and found out that this was written by Subramanium Swamy. So its not surprising. Infact, he has said even more crazy stuff that what he advocated here which basically converting India into a Hindu version of Pakistan. Not that everyone in his family are like that. For example, his daughter Suhasini Haider is a well know journalist with CNN-IBN who has a very sensible approach to journalism.

But India is a democracy and he has the right to advocate what he wants non-violently and without inciting people towards violence. Free Speech gives him the right to articulate this even though majority of the people may not agree with this.

The biggest mistake he makes is that he thinks that he speaks for all Hindus, which he does not.

Here are some articles on the same DNA written by Hindus as well

Politics of hate will never define India - Part I - Analysis - DNA
I have seenmany a TV channel with horror, heard many a shrill socialite, opportunistic politician and know-all anchor pontificate on this week’s terror strike in the city I called home for over two decades. We’ve all been bombarded by online hysteria, TV sermons and outraged tweets offering 140-character pithy solutions to all our complex problems.

Even before the investigations have come to any conclusion, the ignorant and the expert alike have offered us a range of hawkish advice — bomb thy neighbour, suspend dialogue, pre-emptive strikes to destroy terror dens, large-scale arrests, more surveillance of every citizen (especially from a certain community), more weapons and sweeping powers for the police, bring back POTA, instant trial and justice, hang Kasab, hang Afzal, and so on.
Publicity-hungry netas aiming to consolidate a political constituency haven’t stopped at grim analyses of policy failures, spineless governments and demand for resignations!

Some like Subramanian Swamy exhort us to respond to terrorism not as Indians but as Hindus, warn us of Taliban at our doorstep, offer their recycled, freshly dusted theories and advise us to virtually convert ourselves into a Hindu Taliban.

Each one of them does it in the name of the victims. Each one weeps for the bereaved families while offering us their views, theories and remedies. As a filmmaker focusing on the politics of hate and its terrible immediate and long-term consequences over the last 10 years, I have filmed with many whose universes have been damaged by acts of terror and organised violence. Among the countless stories I’ve documented are bleak family portraits of those killed inside S-6, ordinary people later branded kar sevaks, their tragedies shamelessly exploited for votes; Muslim families subjected to the worst of human brutalities in the 2002 Gujarat carnage.

I’ve filmed in the aftermath of the 26/11 terror attacks, and after the 2006 Mumbai serial train blasts. I’ve spoken to a dozen Muslim families shot at by Kasab at CST/VT station and interviewed scores of Hindu victims. My cameras have documented those affected by the Indian Mujahideen bombs and those who suffered the consequences of the Abhinav Bharat bombs in Malegaon.

To those who now spew venom and preach intolerance in the name of the victims, I want to say that in the months I’ve spent with affected Muslim and Hindu families, I didn’t meet anyone who practices or preaches intolerance or harbours hate towards the other community. Each of them denounces hate — none of them wants revenge either directly or in their names. Yet, none of them shrugs it off, or accepts their loss philosophically to move on.

Invariably, in most of them, I’ve seen a fierce desire for justice, for the guilty to be severely punished and a fervent wish that no one else suffer in a similar manner — in their community or the other. Insaaf is a word I heard all the time, nafrat never! In many of them, I did see serious anger — but invariably, against those who exploited their tragedies — be it their own corrupt community members siphoning off relief, apathetic babudom, or irresponsible, insensitive media reporters, but mostly netas who cynically tried to use their tragedy. Hamari laash par vote ki roti senkte hain ye log, I’ve heard this in from the Hindu victim and the Muslim victim alike. Repeatedly.

I have deeply admired the fortitude, sensitivity and humanity in them. Rather than preach tolerance to them, I have learnt from them. I have seen it in their eyes, heard it in their words, sensed it in their voices and witnessed it in their actions. And this is why I remain convinced that though there may be a lunatic fringe that believes in hate/intolerance, the common people or “victims” do not; that the social fabric of our country and the ingrained societal ethos and values of harmonious co-existence are far too strong to be damaged.

This is why I continue to believe that the politics of hate will never be the defining or determining force in India.

These are terrible times. As citizens, all of us feel a deep sense of anger, frustration and helplessness. It is easy to be impassioned, lose perspective, and get mired in irrelevant rhetoric. But this is not the time to advocate aggression, debate politics and rewrite recent and medieval history. It is a time for all of us to unite, speak in one voice against those who inflict terror.

The objective behind spreading terror is to divide us, dent our spirit, destroy our social fabric and damage the vibrant diversity that makes us the oldest surviving civilisation and a thriving, vibrant democracy. The terrorists would be well-served if we succumbed to hate, bigotry, and intolerance.

Or if as a nation, we curtailed our civil liberties, suspended to anyone the constitutionally guaranteed freedoms and rights or targeted any specific community, painting all of them as villains.
No amount of street or online hysteria, outrage, TV sermons, demand for resignations or other meaningless gestures will make any real difference till we allow hate to breed and flourish.

Till the time there is hate, till the time we tolerate hate-mongers, till the time we don’t reject politics of intolerance, we cannot possibly dream of peace. Politics of hate can only breed further hate; only someone insane would believe that a deepening cycle of hate will lead to peace, harmony or prosperity and strengthen the foundations of a robust democracy or a harmonious society. Let us not perpetrate hate. Let us condemn all the hate-mongers, of any community or creed. Let us demand that all the guilty in each of the attacks be brought to justice.

But foremost, let us introspect — delve deeply within our individual selves — and deal with individual prejudice, intolerance or bias. It is only when we deal with hate as an individual, community, society and country that we can even begin to hope for peace. That is the first step towards dealing with this cycle of hate. Let us learn from those who suffer and yet don’t harbour hate, rejecting those who preach and propagate hate in their names! That would be a true homage.

Politics of hate will never define India - Part II - Analysis - DNA

Dear Mr Swamy,
I’m so glad I got an opportunity to read your piece. I am converted. And even as I write this, I am in the process of having a massive saffron trishul painted on my forehead. I shall be the ‘viratest’ Hindu you ever saw.

I agree with you, sir, these terrorist attacks are solely against Hindus. What uber-smart bombs these terrorists have designed to determine religious affiliation before killing and maiming.

I shall go and tell Mr Saiffudin Kapadia this, He’s a Muslim and his brother is currently fighting for his life in a hospital ward after getting injured in the Zaveri Bazar blast. He’ll be happy to know that it was probably a technical malfunction, that ripped his brother’s skin off his body.

But your genius, you utter brilliance, lies in your plan to get rid of terrorism. In fact, I think I’m a little bit in love with your 5-point-list. In your ubermensch Hindu samaj, can a man marry a list of strategic points? Please let me know, sir.

Strategy 1: Create a Hindu Kashmiri state, go to war against Pakistan to take back *** and foster terrorism of our own in Baluchistan and Sindh.
Awesome! So not only do we drive out existing Muslim Kashimiris at the point of a gun, we also declare war on Pakistan. No matter the fact that we’re both nuclear weapons-enabled countries. I guess if there is nuclear warfare, we shall all be protected by your shloka chanting , virat Hindu aura. Right?

Forced displacement, nuclear war with our neighbours, and covert operations on their soil — what a peaceful alternative to our current terror-afflicted existence. Hats off to you sir!

Strategy 2: Remove the masjid at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple and the 300 masjids at other temple sites.
Again, genius! What a simple fool-proof solution to get rid of all sorts of religious discontent. Why, once these masjids are ground to dust, the Muslims will be freed from the mind-altering ray that radiates out of every mosque’s spire forcing them to follow Islam.

In fact, I predict that they’ll be lining up in front of your virat Hindu conversion centres with gleaming smiles on their faces. This is exactly what happened after the Babri Masjid demolition, no?

Strategy 3: Implement the uniform civil code, make learning of Sanskrit and singing of Vande Mataram compulsory, stop non-Hindus from voting.
You know, bleeding-heart liberals have long supported a uniform civil code. So when I saw this strategy pointer, I was aghast. But then I realised that your implementation of the uniform civil code has nothing to do with the law — as laid out by the principles of our constitution — being imposed on all citizens fairly and through a proper judicial system.

Silly me! Instead we shall all chant in Sanskrit while taking away voting rights of all non-Hindus. That’s kind of against the law, the constitution or theuniform civil code, but what the heck, we are virat Hindus, we are the law.

Strategy 4: Stop all conversions from Hinduism. Force all non-Hindus to convert to Hinduism. Oh also invade Bangladesh.
Your brilliance blinds me. What will create more loving harmony than forcefully converting everyone to Hinduism, bringing back the ever-unifying caste system, and invading Bangladesh?

Sir, the Nobel Peace prize awaits you. Why, all terrorism will surely vanish once you force Muslims to abandon their faith, and then, just to show them what’s what, invade an Islamic country to annex land from them. I’m sure they’ll all spontaneously break into fervent renditions of Vande Mataram at once.

Strategy 5: Propagate the development of a Hindu mindset by voting for a party committed to a Hindu agenda.
Hmmmm. What party might that be? Pray enlighten us. Might it be the party that you are president of? Aah Mr Swamy, you wily old fox. Why don’t you just come out and say it? The easiest solution of them all: electing you PM.

Now before I run off to get placards printed for your election campaign, I just want to make one last point. In your piece, Mr Swamy, you cite the Jews of Israel as “fiery lions” that we should aspire to emulate. You should ask them Swamy, how they feel about the concept of a grand homogeneous society ruled on the express terms of the majority, and about the person who propagated it many, many years before you did. I’ll be awaiting that answer.

He is a HINDU fanatic who uses Hinduism for selfish political gains no one takes him serious.....and he is not a former union minister(not sure though) coz his party is based only in Chennai....and by the way hindus and hinduism is one of the most peaceful religion trust me I am a christain andi can vouch for hindus anytime..................

.
in order to defeat an insurgency rules must be broken look at how the Punjab insurgency was crushed Operation woodrose where army men would round up any suspected insurgents and militants and kill them in fake encounters but what really sealed the deal was the brutal methods used by KPS gill

in order to wipe out terrorism or an insurgency use of brutal force and human rights violations might be the only way to get anything done i know it sounds bad but how else??? sometimes you have to fight fire with fire and eventually someone will get burned usually being the other side

my strategy would be getting a dedicated COIN force like Rashtriya rifles or Assam rifles and having them conduct Search and destroy operations while there is a curfew set in place as well as police checkpoints everywhere also the ability of security forces to arrest people and search houses cars etc without warrants but the use of enhanced interrogation methods (torture) can only be used on insurgents or militants not on innocent people or civilians.... no matter what Civilians cannot be harmed

i would also have helicopter gunships assault militant/insurgent strong holds and use carpet bombs as well air strikes along with Search and destroy operations to follow is a good mix

pretty much with this strike fear into the local populace not to even mention 1 thing about insurgency or militancy pay people to be moles and provide intelligence this may sound far fetched but it worked in Punjab during the 80's and early 90's

I wouldn't call him a fanatic because for the single reason he doesn't prescribe to bodily harm to non-Hindus.

He is one of the finest legal minds, a Harvard alumni who played the pivotal role in unearthing the 2G scam. He does harbor a dream of Hindu Rashtra where Hinduism is entrenched in all walks of life. I guess that is his personal opinion. Right or wrong is another matter but its his Freedom of Expression.

And I don't think he uses that for political gains because 95% in Tamil Nadu don't know he is the head of a political party called Janata Party . Its simply non-existent in the TN political scene.

I find it ridiculous that a former Union minister of India can be so closet minded and is calling for a state along the lines of Israel.

I like the Israeli policy for the simple fact it values the lives of each and every one if its citizens and spares nothing in protecting them. That is the kind of state I want to live in. Where the state guaranteed my security and if still something happens avenges on my part.

Call me a Hindu Chauvinist, but Hindus should not forget that India is the only homeland of Hindus left in the world. If we can learn anything from the history of Jews is that once homeland is lost everything is lost. You may be exceptionally talented and a model citizen, but you will never be treated as an equal in your adopted land. Thats why Israelis are so fanatical when it comes to their homeland security. Its a fact that inspite of living in a rough neighbourhood Israel suffered much less causalities from terrorism than India.

Having said that I am also a secularist and don't want India to become a Hindu rashtra.

Sigh, exactly my thoughts - but in today's India we will branded Right wing chauvinists. :frown:

None of the strategy will work. He ignores root cause of islamic terror. Islamic terror borns out from Quran itself and lifestyle of founder of islam mohammed. Islamic history is so violent. So many verses in quran advocates terror, advoates its followers to detest non-muslims and impose islamic superiority. That is the real inspiration for islamic terrorists since the birth of islam. Today You can kill thousand terrorists. Tomorrow another 1000 will raise. Because, the root source is still there which keeps producing terrorists. So, to stamp out islamic terror, the world community should look into Quran and understand what quran teaches and read the lifestory of mohammed. In china a muslim can get arrested for possessing quran. Chinese government clearly knows what is root cause of islamic terror. But, rest of the world ?
