I started this thread some time ago which at the time caused alot of controversey

MMRCA Rafale And Cancellation Threats
Discussion in 'Indian Defence Forum' started by Storm Force, Jan 7, 2013.

I stil firmly believe ultimately this deal will be shelved and it wil be purely on cost grounds

In Short IAF cannot afford two plus $25 billion deals for twio super fighters between 2015-2030.

FGFA and RAFALE was no chance

I think FGFA will come post 2020 as per MKI programme starting with PAK FA and then the indiansed version or MKI ed version 2022 onwards.

QUESTION IS WHAT DO WE DO BETWEEN NOW & 2022

STOP GAP is needed to bridge the GAP of 300+ OBSELETE MIG21/27

We need to take a leaf out of Pakistans book and look for used fighters on the cheap

LCA tejas will give us maximum 80 fighters by 2022 (mk2 x 40 after 2018)

That leaves a multi roler of 220 FIGHTERS

i say

mix of

used second hand mirage2000 prehaps 50+

And new MIG29/35 and more super MKI,

TEJAS PROJECT has simply been too slow
