He's a British Pakistani who has given back to Pakistan and maintained ties with the "old country". However, one of the main reasons he is who/what he is and where he is, is because of Britain. There's absolutely nothing wrong in supporting him and cheering him etc., but the way Pakistanis support and cheer is a bit cringe-worthy (and desperate) because fact of the matter is that Pakistan itself has no home grown boxer and absolutely nothing to show for.
