Since UAE is looking someone to buy their 2000-9,India should buy 'em,why not ?

but how what is the difference now now between them that makes the UAE one more advanced ?

Ok got it Mirage 2000-9 is the export version of Mirage 2000-5 MK2

There's not much difference between the IAF's Mirage 2000-5 Mk.2s and the UAE's Mirage 2000-9s, the -5 Mk.2 is simply tailored to India's needs like the UPG standard upgrade for their MiG-29s that is based on the SMT.

Since UAE is looking someone to buy their 2000-9,India should buy 'em,why not ?

The IAF is interested in 1-2 two seat M2Ks to replace the two seat trainers they lost but that is about it. The IAF isn't very interested in buying second hand fighters with limited life left in them.

Why is the UAE's -9 more advanced than the IAF's -5 Mk.2? By virtue of being upgraded later the IAF's birds are arguably more advanced

@Gabriel92 wasnt Mirage 2000 considered an under powered aircraft? Also, I have heard its engine not only was under powered but a fuel guzzler too? As you always see a Mirage 2000 with two drop tanks.

They used Israeli targeting pod then. Now with the upgrade, I guess they wont need that pod.

Does upgrade also include Damocles or PDL-CTS pod?

The IAF have ordered LITENING G4 for the upgraded Mirages, LCAs and MiG-29UPGs to join their LITENING II/III LDPs in service with their MKIs and Jaguars which will be upgraded to the G4 standard.


The Damocles LDP lost out. The IAF"s Rafales will also have to be intergrated with the LITENING G4.

Rafael says it has been selected to supply the IAF with 164 Litening G4s.
