American desperation to influence CPEC

This article provides an excellent insight how hurt and desperate the Americans are since Pak and China have joined hands in the CPEC venture.
it simply shows how reckless have our poltical elite has been putting pakistan soverinty on risk sevral times due to ill thought polcies..inflated spending ..look at last year fiscal deficit of 7% vs target of 4%..PML N should die of shame by this fiscal
irresponsibility

.
Extremely poorly written article. It keeps emphasizing the propaganda points already in public discourse and there is nothing new there.

.
your the ones begging for a few dollars SO you can meet your chinease DEBT payments on a huge failed CPEC project

To where = NO WHERE other than CHINA

WITHOUT Afghanistan no direct route to central Asia

EVEN the chinesase now know it was a HUGE expensive mistake
$10 Billion from Saudis?

.
Given the track record it's imperative that Pakistan does not see US as an ally...

.
You know I don't hold any particularly negative view of USA. Many Americans are nice people. Indeed I would feel more comfortable in a town in USA then I ever would in Russia. I mean America is not a monolith. They have political factions and power centres competing againsy each other with the dominant narrative presiding which is not always the right one.

In the US/Pak relationship there was much Pakistan gained. Any loss Pakistan sustained was not Washington's fault but failure in Islamabad to look after it's interests. Now the American's erroneously have pitched their wagon with the Indian's in the hopes of containing China. This is where they are mistaken. I always look at India as a giant sewer pool where good % of the world garbage is floating. From this sewer pool you can always recycle some pure water but most of the rest is going to be sludge. Americans only get to see or choose to see the refined layer because that is the few % that goes to America. India will never match China even if US does everything possible. It does not have the demographic for it. There is just not enough Parsee, Brahmins etc etc that form the upper crust. But the Americans see Nikey Haley or the Google boss as typical Indians and forget that your typical Indian is a Ganga slumdog who can't even learn toilet manners in 21st century.

So let the Americans learn in time. The American's in addition perhaps as symptom of a decling society allowed all sort of lobbies to take root which are not helping American interests. For instance we now see many Indian's in these lobbies and media who of course give them a very warped view of Pakistan. This goes on to inform US policy. Going on and being informed by warped policy is not good for America as they will find out in time.
They don’t read history!!! Even Robert Clive couldn’t show the promised money to the shareholders of the East India Company, and had to commit suicide!!! And, the Marwari businessmen from Gujrat and Parsis were there top bogeymen in India!!!

The USA is making the same mistakes as the USSR regarding the India-Pak equation!!!

It’s not an ancient heresy that hanging and marriage go by destiny - William Shakespeare

The article does not say one word of USA desperation...………. That is utter nonsense

THE ARTICLE actually highlights

China massive reckless lending to a poor state like Pakistan who has no hope of repaying this money.
It highlights Pakistan fragile state AND threatens dire consequences to the region if Pakistan collapses economically .Which include terror outfits seizing nukes

This is nothing more than emotional blackmail

QUICK QUICK USA give some aid to Pakistan or they will flounder and cause chaos.

USA response = YOUR BED = LAY down in IT … = NOT OUR concern
dont be worried about us :) .

If US can come with $60b investment, I am sure it will have the same influence as China in Pakistan and there will be no need to worry. But where is the money?

Don't forget the Us will attach strings and make an investment sound like a gift, holding it over Pakistan's head forever. The truth is Pakistan's core interests are not respected by the US, and Pakistan has to look after itself. Pakistan;s core interests include 1. secure borders, 2. supporting a stable Pakistan and not siding with corrupt politicians in the name of democracy, 3. siding with the Kashmiri people and pushing for a peaceful resolution according to their wishes. 4. Helping to maintain a military balance in the region, so that the Pakistani government can focus on economic growth (which will maintain peaceful relations in the region).

Well put. I like to add one more thing for you to consider. Making Pakistan one of the most prosperous nations in the world.

US is no longer an ally of Pakistan. This changed after desert storm when US revaluated their alignments.

I just checked the Indian GDP nominal. India comes at 6th place just above France - a country nearly 25 times smaller. I checked Pakistan. It comes 41st. However if you multiply Pakistan's GDP by 6.5 [to match India's baby making ability] Pakistan would slot in at 9th position. That is just two countries below. And this slumdog is wanking himself over his Gangaslum.

Pakistan 303,993 times by 6.5* = 1,969,000 would lift Pakistan to displace Italy at 9th slot.

*6.5 times is the differance in Indian population compared to Pakistan.

Sir you are assuming if you double Pakistan's population your GDP will automatically double

Point is this: there is no escape from American radar, and we have to work with them irrespective of what some people think. PAK - US relations cannot be about counter-terrorism only; time to fix this, and re-adjust the trajectory of these relations towards mutual benefits.

Scores of American brands already in Pakistan and they have created a large of jobs here, and have a positive impact on Pakistani economy on the whole. We cannot ignore this element.

It is possible for Pakistan to bring US into its fold with smart diplomacy. Pakistan can have constructive relations with Russia, US and China - together. Time to bury Cold War era diplomacy and extract benefits from every party.

Ill-advised enmity will only invite trouble and destabilization. Some people overlook this although they are reminded time and again.

To be honest, Pakistan and the United States have only every been "Strategic Partners" not really "Allies". Its not fair to either party to claim they were allies with common interests, merely that those interests coincided from time to time. The British Empire thought more strategically, made long term bonds with different nations, which they maintain to this day, in the form of the Commonwealth. The soft power approach has served the British well, even after the loss of their empire. The US was never really too fond of putting in the work for do what the British did. Maybe Now that China is putting in the work, forming those long term bonds, the US will have to up their game or be cut out of crucial deals, which is where the next wave of growth will be. (The jump from 8 Billion to 11 billion Global population is expected in the next 30-50 years, and China is signing deals to get a piece of the Growth these nations will have as they modernize; i.e. CPEC)

The US has lived for far to long as the Giant with one eye. Looking at the world through one prism, and ignoring the nuances that those living in the other countries of the world live with to survive and hopefully thrive as best they can. US "Core" Interests seem to change with each administration, and deviating from Principles when it is expedient to get something done, has left the door open for countries like Russia and China to start their attempt to change the global order.

What core interest does America and Pakistan share? Preventing Instability that would threatening US economic or physical security. Linking Pakistan's economic development to a framework both nations can work towards for resolving the regional flash points, is a plan for the future both nations can benefit from. The US (especially if it can get the rest of Europe on board) has enough leverage over India to try to push to resolve the Kashmir Issue. It can also work to resolve the issue in Afghanistan in a lasting way. Us companies would benefit greatly in a region where there is peace.

Either way, with or without the US, Pakistan has decided to move on with less opaque partners.
