ISLAMABAD: The United States has plans to give Pakistan access to its beef market and provide cotton seed technology, Ambassador Donald Blome said on Wednesday.
The US ambassador held a meeting with Minister for National Food Security and Research Tariq Bashir Cheema on Wednesday and said that apart from the flood assistance package, he looks forward to expanding agricultural trade between Pakistan and the US and building stronger relations.
The ambassador said the US was looking forward to introducing high-yield cotton seed technology in Pakistan.
The food security minister welcomed the initiative and said that in the recent floods cotton and date were the most affected crops in Sindh.
Mr Cheema while discussing the Pak-US relations in the agricultural sector, said that Pakistan was facing challenges due to recent floods and rains. “Our priority is to recover as much agricultural land as possible and help the displaced people to resettle back to their homes,” he said.
Ambassador Blome said that the US has a substantial commitment to address climate change through resilience and mitigation measures. “Pakistan is among the top 10 countries affected by climate change,” he said. He showed interest to work with Pakistan’s government to address future challenges.
The US envoy said that the people of the United State stand with Pakistan, and the US government was increasing the flood assistance package for Pakistan.

The US will provide support to Pakistan through its Global Fertilizer Challenge, launched to help low- and middle-income countries address the fertiliser shortage, said the US Embassy in Islamabad on its Twitter handle on Thursday.
“Through this multiyear partnership as part of our US-Pakistan Green Alliance, we will help Pakistani farmers use fertilizer more efficiently and maximize food production,” it added.
President Joe Biden had earlier invited countries at the COP27 to join the US in launching the Global Fertilizer Challenge with the goal of raising $100 million in new funding.
Following the invitation, a total of $135 million was raised in new funding for fertilizer efficiency and soil health programs to combat shortage and food insecurity.
As per the Foreign Agriculture Service, a part of US Department of Agriculture, the Global Fertilizer Challenge will support innovative research, demonstrations, and training to help countries with high fertilizer usage and loss adopt efficient nutrient management and alternative fertilizers and cropping systems.
The development comes as the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict leads to a surge in fertiliser prices, adding to the burden of countries like Pakistan, which already faces liquidity issues amid dwindling foreign exchange reserves.
On Wednesday, United States Ambassador to Pakistan, Donald Blome, together with Minister of State for Finance and Revenue Dr Aisha Ghaus Pasha formally launched the Investment Promotion Activity (IPA) – a US government-led initiative to enhance Pakistan-US bilateral trade
The IPA initiative is a five-year project that will help strengthen Pakistan’s business environment, build the capacity of Pakistani institutions focused on investment promotion, attract foreign direct investment, and increase US-Pakistan bilateral trade and investment.
The US has long been Pakistan’s largest export market, with potential for further growth. According to the US Census Bureau, the United States imported nearly $5.3 billion in Pakistani goods in 2021, and US investments in Pakistan went up by 50% in the past year

I don't why Khan got so salty about Afghanistan and he overdid it the with public backing of the Taliban.
He should have kept them at arms length like the rest of the countries instead of vouching for them.
Afghanistan fiasco has been a pain the a*s for Pakistan. Their relationship with them has done so much damage to relations with the rest of the world. Is it really worth it? Get nothing out of it. Soldiers are still being targeted at the border.
More Pakistanis die at the hands of Afghan terrorists than drone strikes ever did and they were targeting TTP/Taliban network.
Zarb e Azb happened anyway so what as the point of not doing your bit at the border with NATO on the other side of the border when they asked? Why cry when NATO didn't bother to do anything on their side when you asked years later?
Should have launched the operation, rejected the Taliban, set up a Pakistani friendly proxy on the side ready to take over after withdrawl and maintained the trust between the US insteading leaking intel to Taliban and threatening multi billion dollar trade relations and more importantly your integrity.
Have USA ever leaked intel to India during war time with India? Think with your heads for once.
The entire WOT episode was handled badly. Establishment should learn from this experience.

He is naive in that aspect and way too pacifist. Our biggest weakness is pacifism in such a hostile environment, you can't survive against savages and brutes unless you speak their language as they don't follow any particular code, they are willing to do whatever possible.
Khan is too much of a pacifist and idealist. He needs loyal men that can remind him of the reality sometimes. Especially men that have different views on how to handle things so they aren't just agreeing with his overly idealistic goals and methods.
It's like going up to a wild beast and feeding it once then expecting it to never bite again, completely ignoring its nature.
Not just support for Taliban, what is the strange admiration for Osama Bin Laden? You would think nearly a decade after that man's death, a prime Minister would know which side of the bread is buttered. Just imagine where his political fortunes would be if he had said Dr. Afridi is a hero because he helped kill the most notorious terrorist. And we will release him from wrongful conviction. Would he be standing on a metal box and yapping away while everybody is ignoring him, and a nut can even take aim at him? And after talking like this, he is pissed that Biden doesn't like to talk to him. Hello? Biden was sitting in the Situation Room when Bin Laden was killed. Biden's son was in the military.

And sent to different parts of the world for experimental cultivation.
In the era of 1960, plants of wells were sent to Pakistan from the university.
Those who were cultivated in different parts of the country but the land of Sargodha not only accepted delicacy but gave such sweetness that Sargodha's well is famous worldwide for its unique taste and size.
Sargodha is called California of Pakistan due to the same relationship between California and Sargodha.
This green valley with sour and sweet flavors spread between the Chenab rivers and Jhelum still shows a glimpse of old and rural Punjab.
Where on winter evenings people sit around in old-fashioned mansions between gardens spanning for miles and walk around sucking jaggery tea and sugarcane
Where each other's sorrows and happiness are shared and social issues are discussed.
Even today, the morning starts with the bang of desi cucumber.
And people start their morning by prostrating before the Lord.
This beautiful land of Punjab is still keeping its traditions within itself.
In which modernity is slowly coming.
I pray to Allah to maintain our honor in the coming years.

US Consul General Nicole Theriot said on Saturday that United States is supporting Pakistani innovators, entrepreneurs and students working to make a positive impact on their communities and the economy.
Speaking to Pakistani entrepreneurs at the National Incubation Center, Karachi, she remarked “this year marks 75 years of bilateral relations between the United States and Pakistan”.
“The United States values our long-standing cooperation with Pakistan and has always viewed a strong, prosperous and democratic Pakistan as critical to US interests,” she said.
“We support strengthening of economic ties between our two countries by expanding private sector trade and investment, which benefits both countries.”
She added that the US government looked forward to continuing working with Pakistan to grow and expand commercial and economic ties and collaboration in education.
The consul general further stated that her country was keen to improve access of Pakistan to renewable energy and increase agricultural cooperation.
“We also look forward to more cooperation on integrating women into Pakistan’s economy and help further nurture Pakistan’s entrepreneurial ecosystem,” she said.
The event was aimed at promoting the advancement of the Pakistani entrepreneurial ecosystem by convening various programs with entrepreneurs, startups, incubation centers, industry leaders, academia, youth, and journalists.
Professional speaker Oscar Garcia led a roundtable discussion with US Consulate Karachi officials, entrepreneurs and startups about the “Challenges and Opportunities in Pakistan's Entrepreneurial Ecosystem”. He gave an interactive talk about “Sustainability in Start-Up Culture” with the aspiring Pakistani entrepreneurs at Lincoln Corner Karachi.
