Altaf Hussain Released on Bail Without Any Charges | News Pakistan

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain has been released on personal bail after his application for bail was accepted early Saturday. No charges have been framed by the London metropolitan police, however, Altaf Hussain has been asked to appear before authorities whenever required. Number of party leaders were present outside the Southwark police station where Altaf Hussain was held after his arrest on the suspicion of money laundering.
London Police has said in a statement that the 60-year-old, who had been detained for interrogation over money laundering suspicions, was released on a personal bail without any charges framed with the condition that he would appear before authorities whenever required.
Mutthadiah Quami Movement (MQM) leader Altaf Hussain was shifted to Southwark police station after doctors in a private hospital cleared him. Altaf Hussain was arrested on Tuesday in connection with a money laundering case. Various medical tests including angiography were conducted during the past two days.
Government of Pakistan had offered to provide legal support to MQM leader Altaf Hussain. Pakistan Foreign Office spokesperson told reporters that Altaf Hussain has not requested for legal support. Spokesperson also announced that Pakistani Passport and National Identity Card for Pakistani Origins will be issued to him after completing the necessary procedures. The spokesperson also said that Altaf Hussain has thanked Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
MQM workers and leaders prayed for recovery of their party chief. MQM is holding a Youm-i-Dua on Friday to make prays for Altaf Hussain’s health.
MQM will announce its line of action on the situation later sometime today.
