What's new

AL's strategy of intimidation may no longer be working

That has also gone up!

Our raison d’etre cannot be to be a thorn on India’s side.

That job has been assigned to Pakistan.

Our job is to create millions of jobs for our unskilled semi literate masses.

That can only be done by trading with India and getting China to build the required infrastructure.

All other options were exhausted by Ershad, Major Zia and Begum Zia.

It was a failure!!!

I know you think we can manufacture cars and motor bikes that can compete with India!

But we cannot!

We cannot even build simple bridges without outside consultants.

If you want to chest thump then get into Ivy League and Russell Group unis!!!

AND LEARN TO SPEAK ENGLISH!!!

Read the economist and learn how Sylheti kids caught up with white brits and on course to top Indians in a decade.

This is beyond your intellect to understand, I'll let you know when we discuss Chicken Tikka Masala.

Democracy simply doesn’t work when your population is at best semi literate.

Every time you lot type a sentence you prove the above point!

No country has ever developed through democracy!

Btw, Pak generals should have focussed on development instead of a “free and fair” election.

Then Pakistan would still be intact. And the Dhakaya semi literate mob would be boxed.

Imagine if the Chinese communist party focused on democracy instead of development. China would now be in pieces.

Dont underestimate your own people

Your system is parliamentary by the way, then it shows that your political system quality is based more on the party.

People chose the party, then party will chose the PM

As you only have 2 strong parties, it means your democracy is better to have 2 competing force compete with each other rather than monopolizing the politics

Just common sense, market system will produce better product than in monopoly system

Read what the American founding fathers said of their own people. Who were much more educated than our people now.

They said, “people left to their own devices would elect dangerous rabble rousers”.

Which is why they enacted the “Electoral College”. And ensured the president is not directly elected.

Then created the senate which is not representative of the population.

Then created the Supreme Court to further curtail the elected branch.

Better to have changes around the leadership. I mean I have seen what is happening in Indonesia. Not only President, but also Governor.

Different leaders brough different policy that compliment to each other. Their focus is different, but with different leaders it means they will cover all of the necessary thing that needs to be developed.

I would try to compare between 2 Jakarta Governor different policy

Anies Baswedan

1. Focus on transportation system
2. Focus on public space, including green park
3. Focus on making more dam near the rivers to solve flooding while it also can add Jakarta ground water
4. Focus on sidewalks, BRT station revitalization, and making the city look modern

New Governor (Heru). Just started this second semester 2022. He is appointed by Government as we introduce new law that make all Governor election should be held in the same period, starting in 2024.

1. Focus on Rivers. Jakarta has 14 rivers going through it and he wants to make rivers in Jakarta better by protecting the rivers from people who live near it, mostly slump area

2. Making the rivers drinkable and can be used by Jakarta pipe water system (This is also current Government initiative since Heru is appointed by Government)

-----------------------------------------------

Both leaders have different view, but complementing each other, making Jakarta better

Your right to vote, how you vote, or who you choose to vote has very little to do with your education.
In 1970 people voted for East Pakistan candidates, so if people could vote right candidates in 1970 why it seems impossible these days ?

Who are the right candidates though?

Not a good comparison. In 1970, the choice was between being ruled by East Pakistanis leaders vs racist West Pakistani establishment.

If you can not trust your people to vote for you then you have no business leading the country.

All these argument is just gibberish. No political party has any inherent right to rule through violence.
Well, Mahathir Muhammad and Lee Kuan Yew did not trust their people either.
With no credible opposition in sight, democracy is suicide.

I think you have given a very simplistic explanation such as east Pakistan and west Pakistan. Please read the history of Pakistan after 1947 to know about the past.

At least, a person should know who became the Governor General/ President of Pakistan after the death of Jinnah. There are other personalities that many of you cannot probably memorize.

Mirza and Nazimuddin were Bengali in ethnicity only - they hardly did anything to counter discrimination of the East.
Bangabandhu had many flaws but he was at least willing to fight for betterment of East Pakistan. It therefore made sense to have a proper election in 1970.

I am no fan of BAL but I am yet to see anyone present a case for a better opposition who can actually win a fair election in 2023. BNP turds are good for nothing.
Jamat/Hizb ut Tahrir types are a no-no but can actually win in the current environment. I would rather tolerate BAL thuggery over BD turning into Afghanistan.

Please talk about history in plain language instead of analyzing it to suit your personal ego. Let neutral people do this job, the history writers.

How about H.S. Suhrawardy and Muhammed Ali Bogra? Both became the PM. How about Ataur Rahman Khan? He was offered the post of PM but he declined to accept. Please read "ওজারতির দশ বছর" to know about it.

Also, how about Khwaja Nazimuddin first taking the post of GG/ President and later becoming the PM of Pakistan?

That is for the people to decide. You trust the institution so people have a chance to vote out the candidates they find corrupt.

Has that ever been the case - when have people ever voted out the corrupt? If anything the corrupt have guaranteed themselves multiple terms.

These are just nice sounding words peddled to the poor.

Anyone except that half educated Shaikh family will do. Whichever party or parties come to Power will have to face the future election. Democracy is a continuous process.

Don't worry turkey - I know you'll be voting for Christmas. I can't wait for when jamat gets in through your continuous process.

I still don't understand what this has to do with having an open election in 2023? Who is the credible opposition leader who can take the country forward and also win?

Walton is doing excellently in consumer electronics and needs to focus on doing a few things very well.
You are a great man suggesting how to run BD and now suggesting WALTON to learn from you how to run that company.

You are really a great man, just like another brainless Tokai boy in the street.

Are not you the guy crying over the matter that Jamaat has influenced America to impose sanctions? What will you do now that your BAL Police cannot kill more people anymore, thanks to Jamaat?

Narae Takbir: Allahu Akber. Bangladesh Zindabad.
