Bhai we are already lagging behind Rs 64b from the target in 2 months. If I extrapolate that to the whole year then we will be about Rs 400b behind the target of Rs 5.5t.

I like Shabbar Zaidi and think he is doing an excellent job, but more needs to be done to meet the targets.

The crackdown on non-filers on the ground, particularly real-estate offenders, is intense. I'm sure if they keep up, they'll make up for it.

Sep 01, 2019: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has achieved 90 percent revenue collection target set for first two months of Fiscal Year 2019-20.

So far, FBR's target for FY2019-20 has been achieved to the extent of 90%-Rs 580 billion against the target of Rs 644 billion, Chairman FBR Syed Shabbar Zaidi said in a tweet on Saturday.

He said FBR collection for the month of July stood at Rs 297.4 billion despite 8-10 non-working days on account of Eid Al Azha.

Meanwhile minister for Economic Affairs Division Hammad Azhar appreciated the positive results saying “excellent results by FBR by achieving 90% of bold revenue target set for them”.

He said the break down in taxes show above 30% growth in collection of inland sales and income tax.

Residual 10% shortfall coming due to policy of import compression that is essential to reduce external deficits, he added.

That's why saying that revenues hit 90% of target is misleading.

The crackdown on non-filers on the ground, particularly real-estate offenders, is intense. I'm sure if they keep up, they'll make up for it.

Real estate and retail, if FBR can get hold of them then tax to GDP ratio will reach 15%.

Gud beginning.... But alot abd i mean alot still needs to be done .
Keeping in mind the red tapism, bureaucracy hurdles and corrupt team he got who arent actyally used to working the way they shud be... This is a welcome sign and things will only get better.
The key to achieving the target are real estate, factory owners, shops, drs, clinics, hospitals, pharmacies and lastly lawyers. These are the big fish.

Tax collection is always highest towards the end of the fiscal year so if the start is good the end will be much better. In sha Allah

Bhai that's why targets for these earlier months is also lower, otherwise 5500/12 = 458. It is true that tax collection is alot higher near the end of the fiscal year, but still we shouldn't be lagging behind target already.

Rs580b in last two months is 13% growth. Which is same as last year.

13% growth is average. It mean FBR will not get anywhere near target. They should look for 20%+ growth rate.

Honestly that is fine lol
Reaching 5.1 t will be a mriacle lol
But more screw lightning is needed in the retail sector..that is where the problem lies...
Retail and services
While industires are shocked with over taxing

Reaching 5 trillion Would be a thing And we would be satisfied.
It's only a Months.
The next month would give you an idea if they collect 95 percent of 3 months target and 6 months would present you the clear pic

I am really hopeful .
There is no reason to be unhopeful .
This is the thing that needs to be done.
And everyone says that you can't do it but it is the right thing to do.
So if they are trying we must support them and also persuade our family to pay tax and buy only made in Pakistan

580 Billion against the target of 644 Billion.

1,155 people are talking about this
Isn't it because people file returns in July and August?

In that case FBR performance this year will be as bad as last one. Despite drastic measure to increase revenues. Something doesn't make sense.
