Algeria had provided Tunisia with Russian-made air-to-surface missiles

An Algerian security source revealed Sunday, Algeria had provided Tunisia with Russian-made air-to-surface missiles in support for the country in fighting armed groups.

The Tunisian army had received the missiles on Thursday, the source told on condition of anonymity.

He noted that the missiles would be used in targeting the hideouts of "terrorist" groups.

The source did not, however, mention the size of the Algerian missile shipment.

Describing the missiles as "aid," the source said they were sent to Tunisia through a crossing in the border province of Tebessa.

The Tunisian army, the source said, had previously received shipments of needed arms from Algeria in the light of a security agreement between the two countries.

He added that the air-to-surface missiles would be used in attacking armed groups hiding in mountainous areas on the border between Tunisia and Algeria, including the Jebel ech Chambi.

Nevertheless, there has been no official statement from either Algeria or Tunisia on the missile shipment.

That not something new. Algeria moved an air defence regiment when Tunis was bombed by Israel to prevent another attack..Same when Qaddaffy was attacked bu the US.....due to a defence agreement, she had with Libya at the time.
Tunisian territory is off limit and is under Algerian air defence protection. Both Tunisian and Algerian armed forces are helping each other to keep Libyan armed groups at bay..

2nd we have SA 342 Gazelle that can carry HOT and we have Gunship UH1 huey with anti tank missiles
3rd what will do with thous missiles and our pilots are not trained for russian made planes or helicopters
4th And such news remain without credibility unless you tell us the types of the weapons and you did not attach pictures or videos showing Tunisia take them

the SAM is to deter any plane from Libyan from violating the Tunisian air space.

The report is late but has truth in it. Equipment of this type was moved last June to protect Tunisia and Algeria from Libyan Aircraft to enter their air space..

yes ant they are for air denial, not for the mont Chambi like the article reported. They have been in Tunisia, since the disappearance of the 11 civilian aircraft in Libya.
The Chambi area is very well kept in check by Tunisian and Algerian armed forces..

Tunisian constitution don't allow foreign Military force to operate from ( in ) Tunisia only in Training .. to train Tunisian soldiers .. but as you say Algerian forces in Tunisia .. that is unconstitutional .. and about Israel bombed Tunis .. Tunisia allowed the Algerian fighters to fly in tunisian Air space but not based in Tunisia
