A high-level delegation of the Awami League left for China on Sunday on a seven-day visit to join the national convention of the Communist Party of China.
The team will join the celebrations marking the 60th founding anniversary of the republic.
The delegation, headed by general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam, will meet with the Chinese ruling party leaders.
Presidium member Yousuf Hossain Humayun, joint secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif, organising secretary Ahmed Hossain and international affairs secretary Syed Abul Hossain are among those in the team.
Syed Ashraf told reporters at the airport that the ties between the two parties will strengthen with the visit.
AL joint secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif said they want China to mediate between Bangladesh and Burma.
