Main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir addresses his party’s Faridpur ‘divisional rally’ organised by the district unit of BNP on the Komarpur Abdul Aziz Institution ground, on Saturday.

The main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party on Saturday alleged that the ruling Awami League leaders and activists had laundered Tk 10 lakh crore from the country to abroad in the past 12 years.

BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir made the allegation at a mass rally in Faridpur.

The rally at the Komarpur Abdul Aziz Institution ground, about six kilometres away from Faridpur district town, was organised by the Faridpur district unit of BNP as part of their ongoing movement programmes.

Speaking at the rally, Fakhrul said, ‘Awami League is looting the country’s resources. They have depleted the country’s foreign exchange reserves.’

‘Where did the government steal? They have stolen from mega projects to unemployment allowance, old age allowance, [and] widow allowance,’ the BNP leader alleged.

Calling upon prime minister Sheikh Hasina to resign immediately, Fakhrul said that the next elections should be held under a non-partisan caretaker government.

He said that the country would not allow AL to play with elections.

‘The movement this time is the fight to get back our rights to food, votes and lost democracy,’ said Fakhrul.

Faridpur is called the stronghold of BAL ! It's surprising that BNP gathered mass people here!

@BananaRepublicUK , you see BNP suddenly wake up as phoenix bird? Do you still believe that this regime is secured?

Both parties have 100s of thousands of members.

Party membership is a ticket to a juicy government job.

A government job to non-Sylhetis is like marrying someone with red passport is to Sylhetis 🤣🤣🤣

Neither is healthy.

Anyway, BNP goons have been beaten black and blue - so am not surprised at their hunger for mass protest.

They have nothing to lose.

But god help Bangladesh if BNP wins.

Bnp are even bigger gooonda mundas, the whole party together can't even muster a brain cell.

Komorpur is my ancestral village where most of our extended family members live. Some have moved to Faridpur Town and many have moved out to nearby Kanaipur, Parchar, and Dopakandi.

The BNP meeting is held in the south-west (is it west?) of Faridpur-Rajbari Road on the field of Abdul Aziz Institution and my ancestral Bhita/ ভিটা is on the other side of the road about 600m from the meeting venue.

About Mirza Fakhrul's looting allegations against Hasina administration, I think it is only a wild guess now. When a new administration takes over it should investigate all cases of major corruption.

And I hope the new administration does not start its own looting. BNP's past record is also not that good. Most of its ministers except Saifur Rahman were mediocre guys without any knowledge of what steps to take to industrialize the country.

I do not read any news that BNP leaders want to take what steps to reach that goal. BNP has no plan for the economic development of the country, and its main leader Tareque, a bloody thief, is no charismatic character and he is not a visionary. His father was.

One question, let's imagine something. Let's say BAL fall at 10 December , military take power.

And then handed over power to a technocrat govt. And Hasina will be the head of the technocrat govt , but BAL will be ousted totally and erased from Bangladesh history.

Would you accept it? Remember Hasina is head of the technocrat govt , but at the cost of annihilation of BAL. Is it acceptable for you?

Kindly answer with yes or no.

Even if that is true, look at the state of the economy now with GDP per capita PPP higher than Pakistan and caught up with India now. Economy is also growing faster than India.

There is brand new infrastructure all over the country and the debt to gdp ratio is still around 40% of GDP from when AL came into power in 2009.

Do not worry. You should ask Hasina Bibi to accept the Australian offer of building a bullet train line at $16 billion.

This will certainly cause our great economy to run faster by riding on that bullet train. Enemies of Golden Bangladesh claim that the FE reserves have reached $26 billion.

I understand, why you support a bullet train with borrowed money. The bullet train will bring in millions of foreign tourists and they would spend billions of dollars only to ride such a super train.

So, why wait instead of organizing a meeting with Hasina Bibi?

@UKBengali, please watch the video below. The guy is repeating what you always say that BD is swimming in economic prosperity. Please open the link and give the guy a big hug.

This is a pretty ridiculous tbh - alleging corruption, no one will argue with that - but $100b?!

BDs entire external debt is $95b, so basically AL stole all the money that was borrowed? Where else would 100b come from in the economy?

And if that's the case how exactly have the roads and bridges been built? How are lakhs of civil servants, govt workers being paid?

There simply is not $100b spare to be stolen

On the plus side there's corruption everywhere from UK - South Korea- u.s.a- and many other places.

The difference is the scale of corruption and if the governance is very bad or doing well for the people.

What happend to the fund money created by taking dollar from the foreign currency reserve ?
Someone was thinking they can get a better return on $8 billion dollars.
Who would she trust with $8 billion dollars to play with ?

There simply is not $100b spare to be stolen
So, how much your BAL party has stolen so far? Is it then $50 billion? If so, how much was your own personal share? Is it only $100 million?

Sheikh Rehana is our money laundering queen. She is a londongrad citizen BTW. Tarek Zia is nothing in front of her...
