As parliament will not be formed till that.

He said that he would give 3 weeks to the new parliament to restore judiciary

IF NOT

Then there would be protests.

Lolz .He is suspicious of his own government.:undecided::undecided::undecided:

ITS wonderfull , to see MR, AITAZAZ BLACKMAILING and giving deadlines to newly elected parliment. belive me if he is in RUSSIA and doing all this , he wouldbe taken out or CLEANED UP, many will like to not agree and will be angry with my comments but, belive me RUSSIA is the most possible role model for pakistan.

RUSSIAs guided democracy is far better than dictated democracy of pakistan, and PUTIN is 100% a example for mr, MUSHARAF.

PLZ, dont make it a point of arguement, and also plz dont think that russia and russian govrmentle system is the best one but still , many RUSSIANS THINK THAT, they are living freely with indepence in thier own country.

and it is very important , i mean sense of independence!:smitten:

some times , we had to take extreme measures , measures which cantbe argued but important ones , on which national integrity is based on.

Musharraf’s London stay cost national kitty Rs6.3m

By Ahmed Hassan

ISLAMABAD, Feb 28: President Pervez Musharraf who undertook a 10-day visit to European countries recently cost heavily to the national exchequer when he stayed in London for three days at the last leg of his visit.

Senator Azam Swati of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal informed Senate through a point of order on Thursday that the hotel the president stayed in charged Rs6.30 million for three nights — 17,000 pounds sterling per night (Rs2.10 million).

The president had stayed in London for two days without any official engagement and returned home after meeting British prime minister Gordon Brown on the last day of his stay.

Senator Enver Baig of PPP informed the upper house that a number of former ministers who have lost elections were still in possession of official bulletproof cars and police squads stressing that the government should retrieve these facilities from them.

Senator Saadia Abbasi of the PML-N pointed out that the caretaker government has appointed Mubashir Lucman, caretaker Punjab minister as adviser to Information Ministry against huge salary package, adding that it was against the mandate of the caretakers to make such key appointments.

Caretaker Minister for Information Nisar A. Memon defended the appointment but the presiding officer agreed with the suggestion that the matter be referred to the house committee for report.

Interestingly, the presiding officer Dr Abdul Malik who chaired the entire session of the upper house agreed to send almost all the issues to the standing committees which were raised by members through point of orders.

Senator Ismail Buledi through a point of order said that the flood affected people of Balochistan had not been paid any compensation even after a lapse of one year.

He also agitated what he termed ignoring the promotions of officials from his province.

The presiding officer said that Wapda had committed huge irregularities in Mirani dam and ordered sending the issue to the standing committee on water and power.

The chair also directed to maintain provincial quota in Jinnah Hospital, Karachi on the point of order of Senator Rehmatullah Kakar that promotion of a certain official from Balochistan was being impeded.

Abbas Komaili of MQM pointed out that the heirs of 44 dead and many injured in Parachinar blast had nor been paid compensation so far and demanded immediate action.

On Liaqat Bangulzai’s instance the chair sent the issue of ignoring an engineer Waqar Shirani in promotion in PIA to house defence committee.

Well maybe he has a point ? Gen M seems to have expensive tastes ?

Deposed CJ: lawyers to register case against detention

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, March 1: Lawyers here on Saturday demanded registration of a criminal case against those responsible for detaining the pre-PCO chief justice of Pakistan and his family since November 3.

At a hunger strike camp at Ayub Chowk, the lawyers said an application would be registered with the Secretariat police in this regard.

The president, interior minister, interior secretary, chief commissioner, deputy commissioner, IGP and SSP of Islamabad are likely to be nominated in the case.

Speaking on the occasion, Athar Minallah, a lawyer, said a petition would be submitted to the court of the district and sessions judge Islamabad on Monday if the police refused to register the case or receive the complaint.

Justice Chaudhry along with his family members, including a special child, has been detained in his official residence at the Judges Colony since November 3.

Meanwhile, two social activists - Mohammad Iqbal Bali and Jehangir Akhter - started a hunger strike in support of the deposed chief justice and demanding the release of his family members.

Lawyers to participate in black flag week in a big way: Aitezaz

LAHORE: President Supreme Court Bar Aitezaz Ahsan said that the long march announced for the restoration of the judges has not been cancelled and he would announce its final date after reviewing the steps by the new government and the parliament.

He said that his detention was illegal for which he would take legal action against the care-taker chief minister Punjab and the home secretary.

Talking with media in Lahore after his release, Aitezaz Ahsan said that he would go to Benazir Bhutto’s grave in Garhi Khudabakhsh in a day or two and then meet with the party leadership in Islamabad.

Aitezaz Ahsan said that the lawyers would take full participation in the black flag week from March 9 to 16 because he thinks that no judge can be freed unless the deposed chief justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry is not reinstated.

He said that the lawyers’ long march has not been cancelled but it has just been postponed.

Aitezaz Ahsan said that the long march would be taken out against those bearers which are lying in the way towards the independent judiciary.

Regarding by-elections, he said that his taking or not taking part in the by-elections would be decided by the party leadership. However, he had boycotted the elections with the permission from Benazir Bhutto.

Regarding nomination of the candidate for premiership by the party, he said that Amin Fahim should be the prime minister in his opinion otherwise whatever the party decides he would accept it.

Aitzaz warns incoming parliament after release

By our correspondent

LAHORE: Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President Aitzaz Ahsan’s 120-day-long house arrest came to an end on Sunday when the provincial government decided not to extend the detention orders any further in the wake of expected change in the government. Soon after, the lawyer leader warned the incoming parliament to restore the judges, failing which “the lawyers and masses will take to the streets”.

The Punjab home department removed the police cordon and barricades placed outside Aitzaz’s Zaman Park residence. Home Secretary Khusro Pervez told The News that the government had decided to release Aitzaz Ahsan following the completion of the first phase of transfer of power.

Aitzaz Ahsan had been released earlier too for one day but then arrested and placed under house arrest. Aitzaz Ahsan was arrested soon after the promulgation of emergency on November 3, 2007, by President General Pervez Musharraf. Then, he was confined to Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi, for nearly three weeks before being brought to his Lahore residence and placed under house arrest. Immediately after his release, Aitzaz announced a black-flag week that would be held from March 9 to 15 for the lawyers and asked the civil society, political workers, students and citizens to add to the strength of the rallies, which will be taken out by lawyers across the country.

He gave the new parliament some breathing time and announced to delay the long march till March 9 so that the upcoming parliament could get time to fulfill the promises they had made about the restoration of judiciary and elimination of dictatorship from the country.

“The new government should be given some time to restore the judges, failing which the lawyers and masses will take to the streets.” “I am grateful to all civil society members for being so supportive and active on the issue of judiciary and against the detentions of lawyers and judges. We have delayed the long march to a certain time while we will be holding a black-flag week from March 9 to March 15 and I request all civil society members and students to participate in a number of protest rallies organised by different bars across the country during the week,” Aitzaz said.

He added that the lawyers would continue their struggle till the restoration of judiciary and release of detained and persecuted people while they also wanted the winning political parties to fulfill their promises and the mandate given by the people of Pakistan.

Aitzaz Ahsan said that President Musharraf had violated Article 6 of the Constitution of Pakistan and the lawyers wanted him to be tried for that. He paid tributes to the late chairperson of Pakistan People’s Party former prime minister Benazir Bhutto. He said that she always supported the restoration of judiciary.

He said that the public and lawyers had given the new Parliament enough time to come up to the expectations of the masses. They would resume a strong protest campaign if the parliamentarians broke their promises after coming into power, he said.

The participants included Justice Nasira Javed Iqbal, CCP member Hamid Zaman, Dr Yasmin Rashid, SAC activist Sufian Arshad, Campaign for Democracy and Rule of Law Pakistan (CDRLP) coordinator Advocate Abdullah Malik, wife of Aitzaz Ahsan, Bushra Aitzaz and others.

Aitzaz Ahsan, also a PPP leader, is scheduled to leave for Naudero today (Monday) afternoon. His requests during the detention for attending Ms Bhutto’s funeral had been turned down by the Home Department.

Aitzaz’s spokesperson Aftab, talking to The News, said that Aitzaz would leave for Naudero where he would pay homage to Benazir Bhutto. He will also address a press conference before leaving for Naudero, Ms Bhutto’s ancestral hometown.

Later, Aitzaz is expected to leave for Islamabad where he will meet PPP Co-Chairman Asif Zardari. Earlier, the leader of the lawyers movement for restoration of deposed judges was greeted by enthusiastic civil society members and political workers after his detention period ended. He later led a rally on The Mall.

Civil society members, lawyers, political parties’ activists and students joined in a protest rally against the suspension of judiciary and President Gen (Retd) Pervez Musharraf. The protestors marched from Aitzaz’s residence to The Mall and dispersed after burning Musharraf’s effigy and pledging to continue their support for the restoration of judiciary.

However, the absence of senior members of Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP), Women Action Committee and People’s Lawyers Forum from the rally was felt. Participants of the rally included a large number of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf workers, Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) workers, Concerned Citizens of Pakistan members, Campaign for Democracy and Rule of Law in Pakistan (CDRLP) people and many others.

Jana,

OK lawyers all over the world are known to be sharks I agree but for you to paint all with the same brush speaks poorly of Pakistan as a whole. Maybe the lawyers have a point ?

The Gen could be wrong as he is human too !

:) first of all i am not part of that world that considers lawyers as sharks.

secondly i did not paint all with the same brush neither it speaks for the entire Pakistan.

Now coming to the point if the lawyers have a point or not well Yes they might have a point and Yes the president might be wrong too.

But the point is does protesting peacfully or protesting violent have the same meaning ?????

Above all when the newly MPs-elect from almost all the parties in majority are saying and working out for the same cause of lawyers, is it appropriate to create chaos by resorting to once again violent agitation just to get attention and fulfill the agenda of those outside forces who after failing to stop peacful conduct of elections in Pakistan now carrying out such activities inside Pakistan that creat more violence and destabalization.

And as you said in another thread lets give Zardari and Nawaz some time what they do :)
So why the so-called lawyers are not giving time to Zardari and Nawaz so solve the problem.
If they did not than lawyers would have the right to protest.

Isnt it ?
