ISLAMABAD: President Pakistan Supreme Court Bar Association Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan and other lawyers were prevented from entering to the Supreme Court Building. The gates of the Supreme Court Building were locked to prevent Supreme Court Bar Association leaders from entering into the Supreme Court Building. The administration had locked the gates of the Supreme Court Building because the Supreme Court Bar Association was to hold a meeting inside the building today (Saturday). However, preparations are underway to observe the black day and black flags are being hurled at the buildings in various parts of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

The Supreme Court is meant to use for hearing different cases Not for use as some Protesting Spot.

And BTW the Bar Association has already announced to boycott Court proceedings so WHY they were trying to enter the court in the first place if they do not go to the court for proceedings.

Is there any provision in the National Constitution that allows use of Superem Court Building as a place for staging protest ?????????

November 3 actions against constitution, law: Aitzaz

LAHORE: Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) president, Aitzaz Ahsan has said that November 3 actions were against the constitution and law. Addressing SCBA lawyers’ convention here, he said that the judiciary was assaulted on November 3, 2007 in contravention of the constitution and law. He said that the deposed chief justice, Iftikhar Chaudhry’s house has been turned into private jail and his children Afra, Balaj and Palosha were incarcerated for four months. He said that the police keep raiding the private jails, but the deposed CJ house has been turned into a private jail, when would the human rights organizations pay attention to this, he enquired. Aitzaz Ahsan said that Iftikhar Chaudhry was still the CJP. He said that the ten judges including Justice Muhammad Raza, Justice Shakirullah Jan and Justice Nasirul Mulk were under detention for the last 4 months. He insisted that the two-third majority in the national assembly was not required for the restoration of judiciary. Aitzaz thanked the media and the lawyers on this occasion.

the old assistants made MUSHY so week that he have to leave his UNIFORM and to accept croupt POLITICIANS. he wasnt so week, and he should be done better,this is a fact , the whole idea of fighting "war on terror" with the help of croupt pakistani politicains like BENAZIR BHUTTO, this whole idea and whole episode was planed by CIA and was brought into the eyes of mushy , by MR , TARIQ( a long time friend ) and a very reliable assistant till now.

Aitzaz lauds Nawaz-Zardari agreement

LAHORE: Supreme Court Bar Association President Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan on Sunday hailed the declaration signed by the Pakistan People’s Party and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz that says the judges sacked on November 3 would be restored through a parliamentary resolution within 30 days of the formation of the new government. Talking to reporters outside sacked judge Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday’s house, he said he believed Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari would honour their words. He said a lawyers’ rally today (Monday) would hail the two parties for making the decision.

Countdown to begin after govt formation: Aitezaz

LAHORE: Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan warned the countdown will begin immediately after the government is formed and the new government would be given three-day time. Speaking at a press conference at the Punjab Bar Council here on Sunday, he said the proponents of the theory, that the illegal steps taken on Nov 3 could not be undone without a two-thirds majority of parliament, were in fact attaching legality to the steps taken by General (retd) Pervez Musharraf. He said the parliament would not be able to complete its five-year term if it sets aside the issue of the restoration of the deposed judges. If this idea was to be bought, it would mean that tomorrow another Army man would step in, suspend the Constitution, and detain hundreds of judges, arrest parliamentarians and say now go to parliament for a solution. Earlier, at another occasion, Aitzaz Ahsan hailed the joint declaration of the PPP and PML-N, vowing reinstatement of the deposed judges within 30 days after the formation of the new government. Talking to newsmen outside the residence of the deposed SC judge Khalilur Rehman Ramday in GOR-1 on Sunday, he said they believed the two leaders would honour their words as they had acknowledged the lawyers' viewpoint. Aitzaz said masses would start counting 30 days after the formation of the new government while rallies by the lawyers would continue with the same enthusiasm and slogan of "Go Musharraf Go!" Earlier, at the press conference at the PBC, he said Pervez Musharraf had occupied the president's office. Pakistanis heads bowed down in shame as he (Musharraf) confined the children of the judges to their places too, he added. Aitzaz said General (retd) Musharraf was guilty of suspending and amending the Constitution and deposing and arresting 60 judges and could be prosecuted under at least 15 sections of the Pakistan Penal Code. Musharraf through his November-3 action also violated the decision of the 13 judges of the Supreme Court, he said. He said on March 9 last, the 'deposed' chief justice was detained for four days but after the imposition of emergency, he was in illegal confinement for the last four months. "It was his residence earlier, but now it was a private jail," he said. The SCBA president added that the law enforcers claimed about freeing people from the private jails but no one bothered about the confinement of the chief justice. He said that the judges who had taken oath under the PCO had no moral courage even to ask their neighbours (sacked judges) as to how they were passing their lives. In the Judges' Colony in Islamabad, Justice Sardar Raza Khan, Justice Shakirullah Jan and Justice Nasirul Mulk were detained while in Lahore, Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday, Justice Falak Sher, Justice Tassadaq Hussain Jillani and Justice Ejaz Chaudhry were confined. He said Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar shared a wall with Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry's residence but he had not asked even once about the health of his children.

Restoration pledge must be met, warns Aitzaz

LAHORE, March 9: Supreme Court Bar Association president Aitzaz Ahsan has expressed the hope that PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif will fulfil their promise to reinstate the deposed judges within 30 days after the formation of the new government.

Talking to reporters after meeting the Supreme Court’s deposed judge Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday at his residence here on Sunday, Mr Ahsan said people would start counting days for restoration of the judiciary and lawyers would continue their movement.

Earlier, addressing a press conference after hoisting a black flag at the office of the Punjab Bar Council to mark the beginning of the ‘black flag week,’ he said parliament would not be able to complete its five-year term if it set aside the reinstatement of the deposed judges. He said if the parliament did not restore the judges the lawyers would be forced to tell it that it needed a strong and independent judiciary to complete its tenure. He said a parliament built on the debris of the judiciary was destined to be weak and subservient.

He said the lawyers’ movement was aimed at strengthening national institutions, including parliament and the judiciary.

He said that only an independent and strong judiciary could guard parliament’s interests and serve as a bulwark against conspiracies.

He said that a judiciary aligned with President Pervez Musharraf could not hand down an independent decision.

He said the proponents of the theory that the illegal steps taken on Nov 3 last year could not be undone without a two-thirds majority in parliament were according legality to the actions taken by Gen (retd) Musharraf. That would mean that tomorrow another armyman would step in, suspend the Constitution, detain 100 judges instead of 60, arrest parliamentarians and tell the nation to go to parliament for a solution, he said.

Mr Ahsan accused the president of committing an offence by suspending and amending the Constitution and deposing and arresting 60 judges.

He said that on March 9 last year, the deposed chief justice was detained for four days but after the imposition of emergency he had been in illegal confinement for four months. “Not only the chief justice but his children also are incarcerated like prisoners. What wrong have Ifra, Palwasha and Bilal done?” he asked.

He said the chief justice’s home had been turned into a private jail.

In the judges’ colony in Islamabad, Justice Sardar Raza Khan, Justice Shakirullah Jan and Justice Nasirul Mulk were detained and in Lahore, Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday, Justice Falak Sher, Justice Tassadaq Hussain Jillani and Justice Ijaz Chaudhry were confined in their homes, he said.

He criticised the interior minister for stating the deposed chief justice had not been detained and that his official residence was to be vacated. Mr Ahsan said even a retired judge was allowed to keep the official residence for six months without any charges and was required to pay Rs 65,000 as rent in case he wanted to stay further.

“In this case we are talking about the chief justice of Pakistan. He is not deposed, he is the chief justice of Pakistan.”

He accused Gen (retd) Musharraf of keeping the chief justice confined in order to force him to resign. “Chief Justice Iftikhar will not resign,” Mr Ahsan said.
