Air India plane hits a wall on takeoff, and pilot keeps on flying

An Air India plane hit a wall as it took off, leaving parts of the aircraft on the ground, but the pilot continued with the flight as if nothing had happened.
The aircraft struck a 1.5 metre high wall and hit a small tower at Tiruchirappalli International Airport in Tamil Nadu, India, the Times of India reported.
The accident happened just after midnight. The plane had 130 passengers on board, and was headed for Dubai.
"We informed the pilot about the hit," the airport director told the IANS news service. "The pilot said nothing was wrong with the plane as the systems were functioning normally. But we found some parts of the plane, like an antenna, on the ground."

However, two hours into the flight, the flight was turned back to India in what the airline called "a precautionary measure". It landed safely in Mumbai, four hours after taking off.
The pilot appeared not to be aware that there was fencing entangled in the landing gear, and the plane had a gash underneath.
The passengers boarded other flights, and crew were inspecting the plane.
In 2010, an Air India Express passenger plane from Dubai crashed outside an airport in southern India, killing 158 people when it burst into flames after overshooting the runway and ploughing into a forest. There were only eight survivors after the Boeing 737-800, with 166 people on board including crew, appeared to have skidded off the runway in rain at Mangalore airport.
