Is the Shakthi engine a joint venture? if so with whom?

HAL and Turbomeca of France for 1,000-HP engine.

The armed Dhruv powered by the Shakti engine first flew August 17, 2007. Some 70 Dhruvs are currently flying and are powered by 800-HP Turbomeca engines

As part of certification process, the Shakti-powered Dhruv will be test flown in Bangalore and at sea level. It will also be flown at high altitude in the Himalayas and in the hot deserts of Rajasthan.

Good for Air Marshall Fali Major to fly something he has been doing all his life - flying helicopters!

Sixty years is fairly a long time. When will India make a Flying machine which would say "Completely Made in India"?

What about rest of the stuff which goes in the Aircraft? Namely, Ejection seat, Avionics, Instruments, etc to name a few.

A FLAME BAIT post if I ever saw one!!

Your expected answer to this would be..

and Pakistan has WHAT - completely - "MADE in Pakistan?"

Dude, grow up and contribute to the thread if you can.

If it is beyond you - clam up!

If the dhruv is really that good, then what is the reason for going for the fennecs ????

dosen't make any sense

the fact is that the dhruv is overhyped to ensure future exports to 4-th world countries in africa .:smokin:

by it's own definition, the dhruv falls in light weight category.

there is a reason why the dhruv is called the ALH ( Advanced-Light-Helicopter)

the medium weightcategory you are referring to is represented by the Mi-8 helicopters

the dhruv weighs around only 2500-kg (5515 lb ) which by mlitary standards falls under the lightweight category.
