Majid* was fortunate enough to see his family. But others from the Ahmadiyya community abducted by the Taliban are not.

Majid was in militants’ captivity for over six months at an unknown location in Miramshah tribal area. He was abducted from Sihala in December last year while on his way back home from his oil mills. His father, a billionaire, paid a hefty amount, at least Rs8 billion, to buy back his son’s life and freedom.

Not everyone survives. Colleagues of Inspector Rana Pervaiz, another person from the community, fear he may have died in militants’ captivity.

Pervaiz, mistaken for an Ahmadi property dealer Rana Tassaduq*, was kidnapped from Tarnol on the outskirts of Islamabad by militants from the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Punjab (Asmatullah Muyawia Group). The group had kidnapped Majid the same month.

“Currently, we do not know where he (pervaiz) is being kept, or even if he is alive,” said a senior police official.

Over the past few months, the Ahmadiyya community had been at the militants’ hit-list particularly for kidnappings for ransom.

“It appeared that their (militants’) only target were Ahmadis or personnel from the armed forces,” said a police official, who had been investigating the cases of kidnappings by militants from TTP-Punjab. He added that Muyawia was directly involved in these kidnappings.

Following the incidents, the Ahmadiyya Community Religious Centre in Islamabad issued alerts to its members warning them to stay on guard against kidnappings for ransom and extortions.

The local police’s helplessness and inefficacy against the militants have compelled Ahmadis to shift their businesses and families abroad. Fearing the militants, the incidents are not reported.

Islamabad police’s failure in recovering one of their own officers has added to the mistrust of the community.

In Pervaiz’s case, the police failed to rescue him despite using pressure tactics. In April this year, the police claimed to have arrested
Sabghatullah Muyawia, the brother of Asmatullah. However, before showing his arrest they offered Asmatullah to trade his brother for Pervaiz, but the latter did not reply.

Asmatullah Muyawia was suspected to be the mastermind behind last year’s gun-and-bomb attack on Ahmadis’ places of worship in Lahore on May 28.

Pamphlets labelling members of the Ahmadiyya community “Wajibul Qatl” (‘liable to be murdered&#8217, and inciting people to publicly attack followers of the faith, are being openly and widely circulated in Punjab’s textile industry hub Faisalabad, The Express Tribune has learnt.

Even more startling is the fact that the pamphlet contains a list of names of Ahmadi industrialists, doctors and businesses. The first name is that of a cloth house, three owners of which were gunned down in a brazen attack last year.

The pamphlets bear the name of the All-Pakistan Students Khatm-e-Nubuwat Federation and are being handed out at all main shopping plazas and important commercial centres of the city.

The pamphlet says: “To shoot such people is an act of jihad and to kill such people is an act of sawab.”

Reacting sharply over distribution of such literature, Umoor-e-Aama Jama’at Ahmadiyya, Faisalabad, has said that the propaganda campaign being carried out unhindered by some fanatic religious groups under patronage of law-enforcing agencies and the provincial government.

The jama’at has also blamed the Punjab government for ignoring myriad protests lodged by the province’s Ahmadiyya community. It says that such religious fanatics are being encouraged by inaction on the part of government agencies.

The jama’at’s secretary Mahmood Ahmad, in an email addressed to the province’s home secretary and police chief, and Faisalabad’s regional police officer, has written: “We have time and again approached police authorities against hate literature but nothing has been done so far. This collapse of law and order can be traced to the cowardice, inefficiency and incompetence of law enforcement agencies.”

Ahmad points out that it is easy to trace the pamphlet’s source as even its publisher’s mobile number is brazenly given in print. This also shows the
publisher’s disdain towards Pakistan’s laws and agencies enforcing them.

“Our mouths have been taped shut. Our hands have been tied. I am writing this in the hope that somewhere somehow this letter finds its way to a patriotic police or other official who takes a fearless stand for the sake of Pakistan,” the email says.

Corroborating the view expressed by Ahmad, police officials seemed reluctant to take the matter seriously.
City police chief Rai Tahir Hussain also said he had no information about the pamphlets.

Faisalabad DSP Mian Khalid also pleaded ignorance on the matter, and said that the Kotwali SHO would have the information.
When contacted, SHO Malik Muhammad Shahid said that since no complaint has been made, there was no question of taking action.

i dont have info whether they were kidnapped due to their sect, or because they had money...the militants are good at information gathering on individuals. Even in upscale Hayatabad (Peshawar) they can find out who are your parents, what time you usually leave the house, etc etc.

It's not just militants up to kidnapping, its criminal gangs too. Especially after the floods and with the surge in food prices, kidnapping has now become a flourishing trade in places like KP. It use to be something that happened to the wealthy but now ordinary citizens are being bungled away after make-shift roadblocks are put in the way to stop traffic on windy mountainous roads. I know of at least 3 cases where people have been kidnapped, not necessarily by militants but more by criminals. The ransoms are a lot higher too. £150,000 in one case and the family paid up too.

Kidnapping isn't specific to a race, sect or a particular community.

The pamphlets list the names of several Ahmadiya industrialists, doctors and businesses.

The first name is that of a cloth house, three owners of which were gunned down in a brazen attack last year, The Express Tribune newspaper reported.

The pamphlets were issued by the All Pakistan Students Khatm-e-Nubuwat Federation and are being circulated at main shopping plazas and important commercial centres of the city in Punjab province.

"To shoot such people is an act of jihad and to kill such people is an act of sawab (blessing)," the pamphlets say.

The Umoor-e-Aama Jama'at Ahmadiyya of Faisalabad, a group representing the community, reacted to the distribution of such literature by saying that the propaganda campaign is being "carried out unhindered by some fanatic religious groups under the patronage of law enforcing agencies and the provincial government".

The Jama'at blamed the Punjab government for ignoring several protests lodged by the province's Ahmadiya community.

It said religious fanatics are being encouraged by inaction on the part of government agencies.

If this is the fate of a community whose adherents accept the Shahada and consider themselves Muslims, one can only imagine the fate of other minorities in Pakistan. There will be no peace in Pakistan until the population finally learn to practice tolerance and peaceful coexistence

1. There are tenets of Qadyianiat that as a Muslim it is impossible to even write down. Suffice it to say that they are the "ones who have turned away" as has been unanimously proclaimed twice in gatherings of "alems" from all over the Muslim world. Not only have they turned away but they exist to harm Islam as enjoined on them.

2. Zafrullah Khan was planted in Pak Gov by his Masih to ensure Pakistan never had good relations with Afghanistan. This was in revenge for the slaughter of all Pathan-Afghan Qadyinis on a selected day. The decision for the killings was taken by the "alem" of Afghanistan after Qadyinais started their activities in that country. They reasoned this was not a governmental decision to be taken by the Shah but by the people based on The Quo'ran and Sunnah.The dissensions he sowed never ended between these two Muslim neighbors.

4. The Masih in his sermon just after 16 Dec 71 from Islamabad, London claimed that Pakistan was broken up by them. Note that Dy Chairman Planning Commission M M Ahmed was seen in every meeting held by the junta leading to the crackdown and massacre on 25 Marcha 71.It also came out in some media at that time that Pakistan was not in a position to repay the loan installment to the lenders in the next schedule. In fact, M M Ahmed was manipulating the junta to go for war to save at least W Pak. All the statistics he was putting up were bogus. In fact Pak economy was healthy.

5. Qadyianis want to break up Pak so that they can get a piece of land for themselves. Some sort of commitment from India has already been obtained to include Qadyian in this. After they have been banned from Mecca - Medina, the Masih has obtained a new "ohi" wherein they have been asked to perform Haj at Qadyian which they call Al Aqsa al Mashreq. Indian govt channel Door Darshan and AIR live broadcasts these gatherings at Qadyian.

6. The Holy Quoran and the Sunnah should be the guide to tackle this menace. It is better for the State to stay away from this. Like Aga Khani/Ismailis and Bahaiis, Ahmedis are a cancer virus the Western Christian Civilization has injected into the body of Islam through British Intel.

1. It is impossible and not right to embark on a discourse on religion in the narrow confines of a Thread.

2. The conventional definition of "religion" as understood and practiced by non-Muslims does not describe Islam at all. Islam is a revolution and an engine of social reform. Conventional religion involved a priest class, deities, images to worship and rituals of worship which are nothing more than that. A Muslim is required to follow The Holy Quo'ran sent down by the Almighty for man to cover all his activities on earth and in this life. To further assist him, a Muslim is required to follow the Sunnah or life-style of The Holy Prophet PBUH. The Message of Islam is one of peace, brotherhood, equality, social justice and economic parity.

3. Jews and Christians (following the original form) are accepted by us as The People of The Book. Their Holy Books like Ingil, Torah and the original Bible are accepted by us as Holy Books of our ancestors.

4. It may interest you to know that we have been told that Allah SWT has sent down prophets/reformers to every nation in every age till the the last and the seal of prophet-hood, Muhammad PBUH. There were 140,000 of these earlier prophets which include Moses, Jesus, David, Noah and only a few more. Research has been going on to locate anymore which have got lost in time.

5. For instance, some are saying Lord Buddha could possibly be one, but they are yet to be certain. They say there is mention of a past prophet who preached from under a great tree. Buddhism speaks of love and social justice, and the original form did not require construction or worship of Buddha's image.

6. Getting back to the topic, won't it be natural for an enemy of Pakistan / Islam to take on board as an ally a group that believe and are taught to believe that Pakistan and Islam are their enemy?

No one is liable to death for their beliefs according to Islam if it wasn't so all Qadiyanis would have been wiped out by now , but they are a community living in peace and have freedom to practice their faith.

We just need to watchout for fanatics taking their personal hell out of Qadiyanis in the name of Islam
