ISLAMABAD: The Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP) has revealed irregularities of Rs2,962 billion in 318 cases of Power Division and its attached departments.

In the audit report for the fiscal year 2019-20, the AGP has recommended recovery of Rs2,604 billion in 50 cases. In addition, the auditor general has also pointed out the loss of Rs4,033.45 million due to fraud, embezzlement, misappropriation and theft in 21 cases.

Moreover, the report also highlighted irregularities of Rs273million in 21 human resource/employee-related cases. Besides, 64 varied irregularities of Rs107,328 million, pertaining to procurement of electrical equipment, civil/electrification works, consultancy services and contractual mismanagement, were also highlighted by AGP in the report.

An amount of Rs184 billion was highlighted in 50 cases with regard to violations of regulatory laws and regulations. Similarly, violation of internal rules and regulations of audited entities was pointed out in 108 cases involving an amount of Rs63 billion.


Lastly, irregularities of Rs1.1 billion pertaining to the management of accounts with commercial banks were discovered in four cases.
