Lets discuss some of countries in our section whose destiny is to get aging population. Lets discuss those whose destiny is still young. Aging population effect on society and financial status.

.
China, Japan, and South Korea are all aging.

Indonesia is still young and vibrant..

.
Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippine is have a young and vibrant population and will had demographic bonus in near future.

Myanmar, Cambodia and Laos still have a large under age population (below 17's years old)

The most balanced in demographic composition is Singapore, Brunei and Malaysia as they had a much more relaxed immigration policy compared to China, Japan or South Korea.

.
Philippines still has a very fast population growth rate in my opinion, government is trying to pass a reproductive health bill to tackle such thing but our Catholic Church doesn't agree much.

Japanese population is the worrying one, I believe it's already shrinking as of now.

Thailand: the old man of Southeast Asia

One disadvantages of having a fast growing population is that many are likely to be "shipped" to other countries; this is why I am against continuing on relying on Overseas Filipino Workers.

Time to slow down the growing population of the Philippines.

Discussion is pointless because the whole point of any "demographic dividend" is that young people believe they are better worker than older people. However reality is different.

Also, cloning and improved fertility technology can help with reproduction for older folks.

Wrong. Demographic dividend means that since young people are more innovative, more dynamic (ready to take risks, move, go places, explore), more healthy, more driven, and consume more (iphones, gadgets, new clothes, intune with latest trends etc)--the economy overall benefits if there are lots of young people AND those young people are integrated into developing economies.

Good example can be india and Turkey. Both of these nations (especially Turkey) have done well due to their young population and that's because Turkey's economy is a very healthy upper-middle class economy anyways. They had companies, modern infrastructure, massive trade networks globally and so on.

Sub-saharan Africa also have lots of youth...but in order for them to benefit...they need to develop their economies...FAST.

Also, "older folks" can't have kids practically. A 50 year old person won't have a kid (even if technological breakthrough make it possible for him/her) because by the time kid is 20--he/she would already be in their 70's! Its just impractical to think that 50 year olds can have kids like people in their 20's.

.
BTW, unexpectedly Sub-Saharan region is doing better lately to catch economic and Human Resources Development, even better when compared to South Asia region

Yes, I guess you are right. Turkey's fallen GDP and India's $1700 USd GDP per capita are good examples.

Young people are valued only when they receive good education. The reality is, in most developing countries, young labour is a burden to society and have very low productivity per capita. They contribute more to social instability and street violence, calling for high salary without real work experiences. That's why the so-called demographic dividend in nearly all developing countries is a curse.

In China, a 25-year old can be a skilled worker or junior technician in China North Railway designing EMUs for Boston and Singapore. I don't think it will happen in other developing countries.

You better speak your high education statement on the person you hire to clear your blocked sewer tube, or those who take care of your garbages.

The strength of a nation come from the rich, and the poor. You know who is likely a better soldier, a rich kid or a poor kid.

Clearing blocked sewer tube job is well paid...
Taking care of garbages is highly mechanised.
It's not the primitive society in 21st century.
Even streets are cleaned by machines.

The difference is, in most developing countries, young people have to resort to low-skilled jobs or simply jobless, not many opportunities are provided. In China, opportunities are everywhere, u can easily have a start-up in Shenzhen, or open a Taobao shop of your own. At last, if u have not attended college, u can work for delivery company. BTW, a deliveryman in China can easily earn 8k-10k yuan per month and even more if they work harder.

Aging is a natural process, my friend. There are ebs and flows in growth curves , but let me reorient the thought process here. What is the benefit of sustaining an unnecessarily large population? Japan, a nation of nearly 130 million is quite overpopulated as it is. In fact at its size, it is more than the populations of Germany and Spain put together! Or larger than the UK and France put together. With the developments of high technology and robotics, the need for manual labor decreases with much of the manufacturing responsibilities being subsumed by robotic technology. The demand and need for a swelling population is antithetical to national progress. With the rise of cost of living, the cost of education, health provisions, access to a gracious retirement benefits program, it makes regular reproductive rates more preferable.

As most of Northeast Asia has achieved and attained superior, human development index levels, have achieved impressive life style and peace. The likelihood of war is nill. War no longer is fundamentally important for national progress as war inhibits and impedes global networking and trade systems.

It is evident that Northeast Asia is against war, is for peace, for progress. There is no need to maintain such a large population since the threat of war has decreased. I believe when lesser-developed nations achieve the same level of development as Japan and South Korea and Taiwan, then i believe that they too shall realize similar demographic characteristics.
