BEIJING: China may take up with Pakistan the recurring terrorist attacks leading up to the assault on the Army camp in Uri as Beijing is deeply concerned that growing India-Pak tensions will affect the future of the $46 billion CPEC, an official Chinese think tank said on Monday.

"It is an inhuman attack that should be condemned in strongest terms," Hu Shisheng, Director of the China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations affiliated to the Chinese foreign ministry said here while reacting to the attack on the Army camp at Uri in Jammu and Kashmir in which 18 Indian soldiers were killed and several injured.

Though he did directly speak about involvement of Pakistan-based militant groups, Hu, a strong proponent of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), said China will and must take up with Pakistan about growing terrorist attacks as the violence is hardening New Delhi's stand towards the project which will effect it in the long run.

"China wants India and Pakistan to jointly counter terrorism. The larger aim of CPEC is regional development and it can't happen in a violent atmosphere," he said.

He said tensions abated between India and Pakistan after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Lahore last year. But the Pathankot military base attack reversed the peace process.

"The Pathankot attack has destroyed all the good atmosphere created by Modi's visit to Lahore," he said.

"The new attack will further escalate India-Pakistan tensions which is not in the interest of the CPEC. This may prompt India to harden its attitude against CPEC and it will impact its future," Hu said.

India has already expressed concern over the CPEC project that passes through Azad Kashmir (Azad Kashmir).

He said the immediate concern is also how the SAARC summit to be held in Pakistan in November will take place.

The attack will also bring concerns on terrorism to the fore in next month's BRICS summit to be held in Goa, Hu said.

President Xi Jinping is due to attend the summit and hold talks with PM Modi on its sidelines.

Why the **** I have feeling that this all war hysteria emanating from India is pre-planned and against CPEC? The ultimate target is to deny Pakistan this project CPEC in pretext of surgical strikes or war....

You should start living in the real world then you'll understand. That country's putting 10 times your annual defence budget into a project and they'll just put up with you fooling around? Or do you think they're fools and will just take up anything just because India says so.

Concerns are natural for such projects but we will continue...

No, they are not. We've been working on Chabahar with Iran, ZERO security issues. I don't think additional insurance and risk coverage will be more than 1%. Not one part of the plan had to be modified, no excessive deployment by Iranian army or police to secure the people working there.

Sri Lanka- same. Chinese investments in Hambentota are secure and efficient and they have not had to take excessive security steps like in Pak.

This happens only in pak. How come India has rarely accused China of sabotaging Chabahar or that China has rarely accused India of CPEC or interference in Sri Lankan investments?

We have threats on western border, which can only be solved with good border management, fences, walls, and most importantly Pakistan and China putting pressure on Kabul to stop being proxy for bhartis.. but i dont see any will from political and military leadership, they are sleeping sorry to say,

we have to work on war footing for a multi layer security fence along Afghanistan even if we have to take another IMF package or cancel Karachi lahore motarways.., better security situation can do wonder for Pakistan..

If Pakistan also opposes chabahar just like India does to CPEC...Believe me Iranians will have to deploy security infrastructure to their port....good luck going through afghanistan...

You think so? Why don't you do that and make an enemy of Iran too. It's well known that they think you're lame too. So let's just get that out into the open.

Pakistan- the problem child no one wants to deal with. America hates you, Russia hates you, China has headaches working with you, Turkey distances itself from you, no one in Islamic world supports you- including Saudi and UAE etc.

Let's make it openly formal then.

And yeah bud....Afghans are waiting to become another Subah of Pak too, let's see how that goes.

Russians HATE Pakistanis BY DOING MILITARY EXERCISE WITH US.....

I am pretty sure folks have done the homework before venturing into this humungous and prestigious project. Hasn't the Indian Army already suggested against the military strikes since the stealth ops aren't possible across LOC? Pak needs to do its part. IMHO, the foremost is to eliminate the proxies and its support structure, which is being gradually done anyway. This Indian fiasco gives you folks the perfect opportunity to go the most extreme against the proxies. I am confident that the Pak army will fully leverage this opportunity given by India on a golden platter...

As for China, it's better to face off the adversaries across Pak than across the Malacca Straights..

Aaaaaggh why the hell it is so hard for indians to understand that Pakistan / China are no Nepal and Bangladesh, you cannot just try and pressurize us to cancel a jet deal or get old citizens hanged. India has zero say in anything between China and Pakistan, though the pain in the rear is understandable but these pathetic attempts to teach Pakistanis and Chinese about their interests are becoming annoying now.

And I don't believe Chinese were born yesterday.

Its just lies after lies, nobody is going to trust the bullfrog from comedy Indian media.

It's ok if you don't pay attention to us. But for a poor country you'll end up losing billions, maybe you should at least pay attention to that. This is a golden opportunity, don't f*ck this up.

Thanks for your concern.
Now calm down and let us Pakistanis worry about our economic issues.

India has been attacking the CPEC personale of china and Pakistan via its BLA and TTP proxies well before the Uri attack by the Kashmiri militants...
their spymaster Yadev we captured was well before inside Baluchistan to cause terrorism and disruption against the project so the hardening of stance must be against the Indian government run by bunch of killers and psychopaths
