Afghanistan and the future of this region

In conversation with Raoof Hasan, this episode discusses the current interim government of Afghanistan. What regional peace institute is? What’s his take on Afghanistan’s interim government? How are China and USA seeing the current government of Afghanistan? Why is Qatar supporting Afghanistan? Where does he visualize the economy of Afghanistan going? How important is the Afghan-led solution? On what thing Afghanistan can rely on to generate wealth? Are regional countries having a stake in Afghanistan’s peace? What is Iran doing with Afghanistan from the perspective of Afghanistan? What is India’s angle in Afghanistan? In his opinion, are we going towards the new cold war? Is it true that the US had no knowledge how the Taliban took control on the ground? How does he see the Pakistan of 2050?

I might be dead by 2050 but just to experience a 1st world Pakistan for a day would be enough for me. No TLP, no extremists, clean streets, developed city centres, no homeless children, hardly any poverty, it would bring me joy.
We will probably fail to see such a Pakistan but Insha'Allah our children may be able to see such a Pakistan.

The way things are going, our children will be fighting over water resources and climate related changes.

I have been anti Taliban from the very start and remain so. The new interim government is full of old guard and regardless of the rhetoric, don't expect the leopard to change the colour of its spots.

However, Taliban do not have the capability of running a modern gov't and have run out of funds; the economic imperatives could therefore force them to include Hazara, Tajik & Uzbeck ministers in the cabinet and allow women to work wearing hijab which would encourage the USA to unfreeze their assets. Unless this happens and we have a modernized Islamist gov't in Kabul on the Iranian model, Afghanistan's future looks bleak.
