Afghan refugees are a huge burden on Pakistan. We have hosted them for decades but they still remain largely anti Pakistan to a point of ignorant hatred. It was Zia's 'ummah' decision to let them in droved when soviets were killing them like mosquitos. Pakistan's economy has been wrecked, AKs, drugs, kidnappings and crimes are a common thing for them and now in some areas they have been acquiring fake CNICs to buy or illegally occupy land and property.

Despite our best efforts to integrate them, they refuse to do so. Afghan refugees are a huge source of suicide attack manpower and for giving refuge to the insurgents who misuse Pashtunwali's laws about hospitality and protection.

Afghanistan is now stabilizing and we must demand the new govt to enter a gradual but complete repatriation of their refugees from our country. This however is unlikely because letting them live inside Pakistan illegally is the easiest solution for them.

Most Pakistani Pashtuns are against their presence as they are the worst hit community by Zia's 'Ummah migration' policy. Afghans refuse to sign an unwritten 'Misaq e Madina', remain anti Pakistan but pro India.

Integration policy has failed, Afghanistan won't take them back and international community won't do anything either. Since India is bent on containing Pakistan using the Chanakya doctrine, with sole objective of either destroying us or trying to establish hegemony.

If we can't find a solution to the Afghan refugee problem, we should use them as a foreign policy tool. We should relocate all Afghan refugees who came after 9/11 to the border areas of Pakistan, just a few kms away from India in well organized camps.

Since Bharat is their 'friend', and we are the sole evil preventing Afghanistan from becoming the land of milk and honey, it ought to be...we ought to put this 'friendship' to the test.

We know the undercurrent of the 'strategic alliance'.A Hindu India's only 'love affair'with its former Muslim master, Afghanistan is to destroy Pakistan, just like its only interest with Muktis was to break up Pakistan to create the vessel state of Bangladesh.

Just like China is testing the US , East Asian gang by harassing ships, moving rigs and claiming barren Islands with a sole objective of pushing the new alliance into a perpetual fatigue ; we should do the same by a mass displacement and relocation of post 9/11 Afghan refugees to Indian borders.

It it too fails to pacify Afghanistan, it at least will create a thorn in their 'love affair'of hating Pakistan when the Afghans will run to their 'strategic ally' across the border and BSF will do what it does to its Bengali 'allies'.

* Afghanistan will be pacified.

* Our own people will know that country takes their concerns seriously.

* Afg-Indian 'alliance' will be put to a perpetual test, strain and die a premature death.

* We still get to keep them in our lands and leverage them with Afghanistan.

* If India takes them in to save face, that may not be in our interest but isn't against our interest either. A few million more Muslims in Bharat can't be all that bad for us. They hate us any way so its works fine for us.

So This is what Senior's Cafe has come down too .

Nonetheless my 2 paisa :

Pakistan is paying the price of meddling in Afghanistan when there was no need and it is paying for it dearly .

On the question of should we cut down on the amount of Afghan refugees in Pakistan and coming influx, hell yes, we definitely should.

I'm not sure how you're asking this question Horus, I don't see such a thing being possible at all, let alone India being foolish enough to accept the baggage plus trouble they cause.

Typical clueless response.

Pakistan gave refuge for them.So it Pakistan own responsibility.This is noone of our business.

Why not send them to Afghanistan itself and help them in stabilizing their country....

Having said that....i won't mind them in Kashmir state of India......
it will help us to keep a track on them
allowing people to stay in Kashmir will further improve the conditions there...

And we get a trustworthy friend

Noone is trust worthy my friend.There is no permanent friends only permanent interests.

You don't know what you're letting yourself in for.:omghaha:

Even Modi can't save you from them once you take them in.

Don't know much about those refugees....
if they 're involved in anti social elements then why the GoP allowed them in the first place.....
some vested interests

Pakistanis can talk all they want but in the end they will have to provide citizenship to all those afghan refugees and we will make sure that they form a strong political party:D

.
We are ready to send all post 9/11 refugees to where ever they are accepted.

It doesn't include those who are born and bred in Pakistan and have formal education.

Any Afghan with a HSSC or above should be given citizenship. Rest expellef.

It's all Zia's fault. The bloody pillock let them run all sorts of trouble in Pakistan.

@Jungibaaz

Do you know what the US did to Japs in the US during WW-II?

Yes, though it is very difficult to do anything about them as long as GoP gives them this status that allows them to stay and in fact, allows more to show up without any problems with the state. The border is hardly any different and just as porous. I think only after these two steps, then can you try and deal, manage with the already internalised list of refugees.

Preferably in time before the next wave of (inevitable) refugees.

Though, I've always said that separating us from Afghanistan no matter how costly and difficult it is, it needs to be done. It can't possibly cost more than those tens of billions of dollars and thousands of lives we've lost indirectly or directly because of our vicinity to Afghanistan.

@Jungibaaz

Do we really need 'more' of them?

No, I think you misunderstood me. I'm saying we should keep the few that have integrated well enough. The ones who are there illegally, who cause trouble, they should be removed as humanely as possible.

The ones that integrated don't indulge themselves in the usual refugee issues of organized crime, petty crime, prostitution, drug smuggling, terrorism and anti-state activities.

Pakistan should not have to deal with these unnecessary burdens. Worst part is, after all we've done for them in our country, they still badmouth Pakistan and Pakistanis, like a bunch of ingrates.

You can't pick and choose which to keep, either throw them all out or Pakistan will have to hold onto all of them for God knows how long.
